Does anyone think I should just rush over and buy this? LOL

Gorgeous but how did they come up with that price? :(

luv-e 05-30-2011 03:44 PM

I sure don't have money like that to waste lol lol lol
That is crazy!!

S D G 05-30-2011 03:46 PM

I sure hope it is GOLD inlay for that price. Can we all say "no thank you".

Chasing Hawk 05-30-2011 03:50 PM

I have one almost like that, paid 20 dollars for it.

AUQuilter 05-30-2011 03:53 PM

Amazing that they think anyone would even look twice at it. I finally got one (two months after it arrived at Goodwill) when no one wanted it- got the store manager to take my best offer- 1/2 off their ticketed price of $150. So for $75 I got a beautiful machine and a cabinet that only needed cleaning and some oiling.

MzMcKee 05-30-2011 04:24 PM

I think the appraiser should prove its value.

what a joke...it was NEVER appraised for that...NEVER...even now at their highest peak in sales it would not bring $300!

judy_68 05-30-2011 04:38 PM

I just bought one a litltle nicer than that one for $20.00

decky 05-30-2011 04:48 PM

There are some people out there that thing everything they have is worth alot of money and this must be one of them.

SherriB 05-30-2011 05:47 PM

I am amazed when I see adds on CL for machines with prices like these. I have a much nicer Singer treadle that I only paid $65 for.

tomilu 05-30-2011 05:49 PM

That is one big honkin belt, lol. Someone has delusions of price.

deenatoo 05-30-2011 05:50 PM

All I can say is good luck on selling it for that price....

Carron 05-30-2011 05:57 PM

If you have that kind of $$$ then go for it. I am thinking that item may be listed for awhile particulary at that price. I could be wrong too!

Painiacs 05-30-2011 07:38 PM

Holy cow! Hes nuts!!!

BETTY62 05-30-2011 11:05 PM

No need to rush, I think it will be available for a while.

They accidentally moved the decimal point on the appraisal one or two points - should be $150 or $15.

LindaR 05-31-2011 05:09 AM

no where near $1500 on ebay, the most I've seen is $6oo for perfect condition...really nice tho

Sandyb 05-31-2011 05:17 AM

Maybe they forgot to put a decimal between the 8 and 0.

Yooper32 05-31-2011 05:54 AM

I have one just like it and I paid $90 for it and now figure that I made a horrible mistake for the condition it was in and I really am not fond of the vibrating shuttle anymore, much rather a drop-in bobbin.
A PS...however it could be so high because it is a "tactful" machine, it states "every thing is in tact". Nothing like a "tactful machine". It will never embarrass you.

Stitchit123 05-31-2011 07:05 AM

I'll sell you mine for 900 and I'll pay for shipping   That appraiser must have been drinking some vintage wine from a seller on a recent E/B listing

Glenda m 05-31-2011 07:08 AM

When my DH and I were looking for the machine he got me for by birthday one year, we looked and priced, finally at the antique store where we ended up getting the machine I now have, the owner said that so many machines were made that the market for them was not that high. I ended up getting my treadle for $68 and it is a long bobbin and great looking. I had thought about, at one time, getting the old machines and fixing them up and selling them. After talkiing to him and doing my research..decided not to.

New Quilter 05-31-2011 07:17 AM

Looks like they may have added an extra zero in the price and the estimate...hmmm...and I wonder who it was that they got the estimate from...it looks like a beautiful machine, but my purse strings coulodn't stretch that far...   Naomi

SewExtremeSeams 05-31-2011 07:35 AM

Frequently I want to email a CL seller and inform them that

1. their machine will not sell at their listed price

Or

2. what they have identified their machine to be is incorrect

But then, I figure they might figure it out on their own! LOL

There 'might' be someone who comes along and doesn't know anything, AND doesn't do any research and buy it for 'their' price. But, I doubt it. :-D

Sorry, couldn't resist... I wonder how much they paid for their appraisal???

saraaev 05-31-2011 08:20 AM

It was probably appraised by his cousin Bubba at that store I saw on my last road trip through the area.... "used antiques" ! We both laughed so hard we almost had a wreck ! Sara

nancy59 05-31-2011 08:32 AM

I just purchased one from a Goodwill for $100. My cabinet is not as nice and will need refinished (good job for retired hubbie) My question is do people use them?

My question is do people use them?

Answer: Yes!

Look on this topic and you learn how many people use only vintage treadles...

http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-43881-1.htm :-D

kwilter 05-31-2011 08:44 AM

OMG! I hope no one is deluded into thinking about spending that much!

quilterguy27 05-31-2011 09:23 AM

I couldn't help myself. I had to reply to that ad. I will let you know what they say if I get a response.

76 and counting 05-31-2011 09:24 AM

Way to much $180.00 would be more like it

lillybeck 05-31-2011 09:50 AM

If it is worth that much to them then they should keep it.

quilterguy27 05-31-2011 09:53 AM

Well, as I said, I e-mailed her about it and boy did I get an ear full. Here's what she said: "I got your message from Craig's list. Check out Ebay. There is a 1906 Singer sewing machine with cabinet on there for 999.00. So if your able to get one that completely works, like mine, with parts and is in good condition for 20 bucks, go for, or don't. But if your not interested, don't let me hear from you, stop wasting my valuable time with your smart a$$ emails, got it??? I have a life and don't have time for you."
Guess I won't be replying.

PS: I just couldn't let it go, I replied.

flawhoopi 05-31-2011 11:16 AM

Take a look at shopgoodwill.com, they have for about $65

ptquilts 05-31-2011 12:42 PM

$65 is about what we paid for DH's 30 years ago at a "junque" shop with a much nicer cabinet. It also has the Egyptian motif except where he has worn it off.

just because it is ON ebay does not mean it will sell at that price.

my rule of thumb in these situations, don't try to tell people what they don't want to know.

quilterguy27 05-31-2011 01:27 PM

Yeah, maybe for now on I should just keep my mouth shut. So much for trying to help someone out. Oh well.

lovelyl 05-31-2011 02:24 PM

I have the same cabinet in pristine condition with a Singer 115 that works great and only paid $135.00 for it! Keep looking, the one in your ad will probably be there a while. I think they have stars in their eyes - or could that be dollar signs?

No, this is not right!!!v mine was a mere 60.00 I don't think this person ought to be trusted.. what a joke!!

Nanamoms 06-06-2011 07:39 AM

Hilarious everyone!! Just now reading...AC died on my so I'm at my son's home and just now have access to computer.

That lady is OUT OF HER MIND!! I will have to see what part of town she lives in...we only have a few areas where the "millionaires" live. LOL

Just Me... 06-06-2011 08:54 AM

That price is way too steep. Ask them to see the appraisal!
