Maine is nothing but shore line, not true. Travel inland and you'll find some of the most beautiful scenery in the mountains.

Everyone is Maine is a lobsterman, not true and most of us can't even afford to eat lobster but once or twice a year.

Maine is freezing all the time, not true. We have the most beautiful and changeable weather. The saying is "if you don't like the weather, wait a minute" and it is so true. It's never dull, hardly every hot and humid and most of all, Maine is beautiful.

I think every state or even every country has that saying...
"If you don't like the weather in (insert town/state/country), just wait 5 minutes"

Most people in Arkansas really do wear shoes, have indoor plumbing and don't marry their cousins. Some Arkansans also didn't vote for Bill Clinton, but we won't name names. ;-D

Ditto to the above. Our son used to bring classmates home. Once they realized the disappointment of not seeing NYC we would drive them around Cornell University. Comparing their college campus to Cornell was like comparing NYC to our area of the Finger Lakes.

Actually I am from the hudson Valley area and moved to LI after my wedding. I lived 1 to 1 1/2 hours north of the city. We did not say we lived upstate nor knew anyone that does or did. That is all city people. Drives me crazy!!! :P Anything past the GW is considered "upstate" to them. My husband likes to tell me I'm from another state not just upstate. Anyone from where I lived knew quite well that there was 4-5 hours of good driving left north of us and still considered New York State. Never understood why those further down always told me I was from upstate. I thought the Adirondacks at the least was upstate

I suppose that I can speak for Germany too (since it is my birth country):

They do not eat Sauerkraut and Bratwurst every day of the year.
Not everyone drinks beer by the liter mug.
The days of sponge baths are long gone. (Showers are a daily routine.)
Not every woman is au natural where hair growth is concerned.
They do not geerally wear Dirndl and Lederhosen and not everyone has a Wienerdog.
German-chocolate cake has nothing to do with Germany.

A Big AMEN to the fact that old age is not the Golden Years!

I'm in Arkansas. I DO wear shoes, don't dip snuff and therefore DO have all of my front teeth. I do not know anyone who is crude and backward. Although, I have been to some places where all of these discriptions DO apply!
