I tell my DH that if he doesn't put holes in my dust, no one will notice that it is there. And if it ever gets to bothering him he should just feel free to take care of it:D

For years I denied that I had a stash. Last year I moved my scraps out of garbage bags and into plastic totes. This is my idea of organization!

3/4 of my quilting books have been packed away in the attic since I moved into my cottage 4 years ago. Sometimes I miss them, but not often. ;)

Hey! We've been talking a lot about using Elmer's glue on quilts, wonder how that would work doing this?!

Way back when I had a singer I would sew over pins all the time.
Not to long ago I left one table lamp undusted and then wrote Marth Stewart Doesn't Live Here. My teen grandchildren thought it was so cool. |

I use sticky notes on the pages of my quilting mags for patterns I want to make. I used to write something on the note to let myself know what the pattern was. Now I just put sticky notes with no writing on them. I guess I want to be surprised when I look through the magazine again.

I got rid of my china and crystal and now use my buffet to hold quilting tools. My fingers have pressed more than my iron has.
For those of you who can't sew until the cleaning is done, I am sure that is a medical condition. SEEK TREATMENT!! Big hugs to all the REAL people who make up this board! Love celebrating our diversity this way. |
I wish I couldn't sew until my house was clean, but alas, I don't have that much conviction. I do admire the one's who are disciplined enough to clean first, sew later.

My house is a tri level and I have my sewing stuff on all three levels. It's taken over the house.
I sew over pins, too. |

I'm moving Thursday, and I've been packing my sewing room for 4 days! So far, 23 Banker's Boxes, and I'm not done. And I declared a moratorium on fabric buying! And this is my winter home. I found a couple UFOs I'd completely forgotten about. Now I have to decide if I REALLY want to finish them. Sigh. All this stuff will remain in boxes until we return in November and put in a floor to ceiling shelf system in the 'new' house. THAT will be fun! It's a big room - big enough that I'll have about 2/3s of it and DH's office will be the other 1/3. I like the idea of sharing a room part of the time - though he doesn't spend a lot of time at his desk. Otherwise, we only see each other in the evening.
My confession - I clearlyhaven't thrown scraps away for YEARS until the last 4 days. Nor have I used them. Amazing how easy it is to throw things away when you have to PACK them. I'm probably never going to make a string quilt, so I can throw all those leftover strips away. Am I ever going to make another watercolor quilt? Don't think so. I can throw all those 2" squares away. NOT! I think I'll save it all. I might use them... I don't sew over pins, but sometimes my 1/4" seams are btw 1/4" and 1/8" - and I try to sew the little ones with a 1.0 stitch and pray they hold together. I prewash and use Color Catchers. Why? My 2nd quilt was red, white and blue, and I didn't prewash. A learning experience... When I make quilts larger than lap size, I REALLY get tired of them before I finish! I'm finishing a bed size Log Cabin, and I'm really tired of it - the same seams over and over and over. Thank goodneww I'm paper piecing. or they would get sloppier and sloppier! |
WHAT IS A PIN????lol
|
I organize the entire room and less than two days later, fabric is on top of boxes instead of IN it. I use packing tape to get the cat hair off of projects that are in progress. I do not read directions. AND I quilt when I feel like it, and the housework can wait.

Housework is a cour letter word. Bought less fabs, have a leaning lady.
Sew over pins all the time...when i use them. Finally leaned the sewing room, now i cant find stuff. |
Oh, annd i sleep with my cat, or she sleeps with us.
|
I bought more fabric today. I have no idea what I'll do with it. But it was cute. And it doesn't match one single thing in our house, nor the house of anyone I know. But it was cute.
Dog sleeps in my bed most nights. She doesn't go in the sewing room but she does closely examine any handwork I bring upstairs. |

Just the other day I was visiting my son in Ct. and went to a LQS there. Looking through the store this yellow, black and gray fabric was screaming to me. I bought 3 yds and some coordinates with no idea of what to do with it. My house is mostly greens and purples. DD came home and said her newest color combo she is in love with is yellow black and gray. BINGO!!! You gotta love it........stash buying |
