Here, if you join the Animal Welfare League ($50) you get a much discounted price. If cat is up on their shots it is
$125.00

Call your local shelter, sometimes ours has specials and it is very cheap.

OUTRAGEOUS! My suggestion is that you call the local Humane Society, ASPCA, or even a rescue organization for low cost spay/neutering options. There are many places that will do this cheaply regardless of your financial status. You will be supporting a great organization and getting good health care for your pet at an affordable price. There is an organization here called Rascal Unit and I saved over $300 using them compaired to my vet. I now only use my vet for emergencies. They once charged me over $200 to treat a simple case of allergic conjunctivitis. That's when I decided I was done.

Not if you want to take good care of them! Vets are like dentists - over priced - and they have you over a barrel. When we had our farm, to have a vet come and care for a cow cost practically nothing, but woe to you if you took you cat or dog to the vets office. That cost an arm and a leg. We just had to have our Cassie put to sleep. She had cancer. The Vet, " Well for $20.00 more we can dispose of her body - and for $20,00 more than that we can cremate her ---. "No thanks we will bury her ourselves in a place where she loved to be". She won't know it, but we will.

I think you need to find a different vet ...that is way too much!

Vets have to make a living and it is not easy---most are not rich. If you cannot afford their prices there are alternatives. Ask your vet sometime how much they make on a 60.00 spay----the anesthesia is not cheap.

In our area we have lots of cat colonies and there are organizations that will do spaying/ neutering for around $35.00. The organization pays the rest to the vet and they do them at a discount. They have vans that go around and do it shopping center parking lots. It's a great service not only to the pet owner but the whole community. They also sell medications at cost to help people out. We have many people on fixed income and it's hard for them to find the money to get heart guard and flea medication.

I just found some websites for MN: http://mnspayneuter.org/ or http://mnsnap.org/.

Both are resources for this. Good luck with this. Nice of you to do this.

Our animal Shelter has a neuter and spay program. Have to fill out an app, it's done by local vets. We used it a couple of yrs ago on a female we rescued. I think the cost was $35 and an extra $5 if they needed their rabies shot. Took her in the morning and picked her up in the afternoon.
