These photos were taken at a wedding in North Carolina .
Get ready for this: It's a wedding cake!
The crabs, corn, and even the container of Old Bay Seasoning are made of white chocolate.
The sand is crushed graham crackers and vanilla wafers.
The mallets are fondant, a confection used for decorating.
The entire $700 cake is edible!
Crab Cake is not always what you think!

kristen0112 09-16-2010 09:34 PM

debbieumphress 09-17-2010 04:16 AM

I have trouble with regular frosting. This was cool. People do such awesome things nowadays. The tools are there for it. Thanks for sharing.

Problems? What problems could you have with regular frosting? Just pull off the plastic lid, peel the foil back, stick in a frosting spatula, dig out a big hunk and smear it on.

Not if it was "only" $700- I think Duff's start at $1000- one that detailed might be more?

I'd go with blue crabs, too. Fresh from the dock. Or, a Frogmore Stew cake.

That's a fantastic cake!!
I make custom cakes and know the work
and time that goes into them and $700
just seems too low for that one.
Here's a life size bucket of popcorn
cake. Each popped kernel was hand made
from sugar gum paste and painted with
edible paints. I was lucky and found some
chocolate covered and sugared sunflower seeds
to sprinkle over as unpopped kernels!
