curling

we are in the final days of the World Women's Curling here in North Bay, Ontario,Canada
it has been quite a week. Great to see these women up close. Over 400 volunteers( a lot from out of town) -some are drivers to take the ladies wherever. The ice was taken out of the local curling rink and made into a huge welcome centre.

Do our American friends know about curling?

SusieQOH 03-22-2018 02:15 PM

Yes!!! The city I grew up in (Utica New York) has a curling club. I have childhood friends who still love it!!!

We see it now on the Olympics. They didn't use to show any, but it has become popular. There was even an article about it in my local paper and I live in the Southern California desert. Far from any ice or snow.

I love to watch curling in the winter olympics.

We have a new curling center in Chaska, Minnesota. I have been there to eat. It is upscale dining and you can watch any activity on the ice.

You betcha! We always watch it closely in the Olympics and this year was especially fun with the U.S. teams and how exciting to watch that women's S.Korean team!
Sounds like your town is having an exciting event and keeping everyone busy!

How lucky you are to have this at home! I only wish I lived closer, I'd be there too, at least a couple of time to see them in person!

Buffalo NY also has a Curling Club.

Curling has been one of my favorite events to watch in Winter Olympics. It was exciting for us this year and hopefully the publicity our curling team has received will make it more popular. I would love to see it in person - wish I could visit your town!

My dh was a curler when he was in school in WI, but here in TX we don't get a lot of ice so this is how they curl in TX. :p Sorry if there is an advertisement before the video.

We live 20 minutes from a town where one of our US men's gold medal at the Olympics is from. They have been offering free curling lessons to the public one night a week in order to educate more people about the sport. Pretty cool!

i love watching it, but dh and i still can't figure out scoring, and what it means when someone bumps the other.

with artificial ice, more and more warm areas are getting into ice sports- like hockey

I’m watching the tournament right now!

I’m learning to curl now, just did my 3rd lesson. I love it! It was DH idea, something for us to do together now that he is retired.
