Well, I finished working on my Fun and Done quilt for the day and was getting ready to take off my walking foot. I looked over to the right hand side of my machine and guess what? My regular foot is missing. My screw form my gauge was also missing, but found it on the floor obcviously not dropped where it was found.

I know who the culprit its. She is about 7 pounds, black, soft and a little fluffy, and if she's awake she's into something. Her name is Boo.

Well, it's Sunday, so I guess I will either have to just use my walking foot or my other machine. But my Janome 1600 P-QC is my favorite machine.

That Darned Cat!

She used to be so cute!

"The Boys" are never in trouble (almost). Our 3 cats are named after Monsters' Inc movie.

Mike is big black one, Sully is grey one. And Boo is little black girl. Their names fit them perfectly!

Bird Hunting. Feeder right outside window.

Oh they are precious

Quilter7x 03-21-2010 08:06 AM

They really are precious. I always loved watching them looking at things outside. So cute! :D

Mousie 03-21-2010 08:14 AM

My first time having an inside kitty. I didn't know they shed so much. Got this sticky roller thing yesterday to clean off her twin size bed...then just started rolling it over the cat! Man, I could stuff a kings size mattress with all that fur twice a week
Was a 180 sheets in that package. Must have used 30 since last night!
your kitties sound like a hoot! I keep my sew-cave door closed.
Ask Boo what she did with your foot...but like most cats when questioned: they don't say a mumbling word!

Olivia's Grammy 03-21-2010 08:37 AM

Boo hid your foot so when she is bored she can play with it again. My kitty babies to take "my" toys anymore. BUT if Emmy is on the end of the cutting table Reggie wants, he starts out grooming her, then bites her so she will leave and let him have the warm spot.

Chasing Hawk 03-21-2010 08:45 AM

LOL how cute.

Bet you find that foot under something very low and just far enough back that Boo could not reach it!! She just might go back to it a few times and try to get it......mine do that and then look at me like I put it there and I should retrieve it!!!

knlsmith 03-21-2010 09:45 AM

FOUND IT!! And it was definitely a Boo moving. I guess she thinks she is a designer with the way she moves little things around. :) My daughter finally got out of bed and helped me move the deep freeze in the kitchen! TA DA! There it was!

LOL All my fabric and supplies are kept in the son's old room with DOOR CLOSED. The only time things are out of there is when i am working on something. This is is why.

LOL

vjengels 03-21-2010 09:50 AM

oh, quiltincrazy, you need to save yourself the money... use a rubber glove, get it wet, rub along whatever (everything) that has cat hair on it, run it under water, or use a bucket to rinse, repeat, repeat, repeat. This works great and will save you a bunch on those sticky roller things. you could use your bare hand if you'd like, I found that my hand got irritated after a while, so, I used the glove.

Baloonatic 03-21-2010 09:57 AM

LOLOL! Look under the fridge....

A damp towel-paper or otherwise works well too

;-)

redkimba 03-21-2010 11:15 AM

knlsmith - I think my cat is related to yours. She steals my pens when I'm not looking. She goes right up to the holder, pulls one out, and brings it to me.

Stummel 03-21-2010 11:29 AM

And that is exactly what forces me to never ever leave the sewing area with anything small and/or unattached lying around, not even for five minutes...
And yes, the tomcat is totally harmless and chilled out, it's the girls who always cause the trouble. Our old cat Bo used to climb on shelves and coffee tables collecting my hair elastics, which i would find in the weirdest places. I was always out of them.

sewjoyce 03-21-2010 01:53 PM

Hey, cats just wanna have fun!!

jljquilter 03-21-2010 06:18 PM

Solved the problem of cat hair. We have three cats and no noticeable hair problem. They all run to the bathroom to be brushed. It started with the two older ones and the youngest followed along. Of course it does mean that I never get alone time in the bathroom. It even makes hairballs far and few between.

This is what my kitty babies do too. You are right no alone time. They even want in when I'm in the shower.

sandpat 03-22-2010 05:25 AM

Yes, I use a comb also and they love it. I get enough hair to make new kittens, but with these trouble makers....who wants MORE????

Yours is really cute...a stinker....but cute!

Definitely a stinker! She is sleeping on couch and looks like a little angel, as soon as her eyes open, it's all "fun" for her. She is around 2 yrs old and still a little kitten.

It's funny that others have multiple cats and it seems the girl cats are the ones who cause more mischeif than the boys! LOL

Olivia's Grammy 03-22-2010 06:45 AM

My babies are liter mates, 5 years old. My female is the more playful one, male is a great big scarity cat. If you are in the Sewing Studio they will come greet you and even stay while you are here. BUT if you come in the rest of the house they hide, especially Reggie. They are scared of storms too. Never had cats that were afarid of a storm. They start hiding when it starts raining. Go figure.

mosher92 03-22-2010 09:00 AM

What fun cat stories to read. I had two cats and I miss them but reading about the hair, hair balls and mischief that they get into makes me glad I only have the dog and husband at home.

Here is my poor boy Leon, this is about as far as he will go most of the time. He is the weirdest cat I have ever owned, he is a big chicken. He is afraid of my boxers but ok with my little dog. He has refused to have any other cat in the house, I have tried 3x's, even keeping one for a whole year and ended up finding him another home because of Leon.
Leon lives for the most part on the top floor (3 story townhouse) in the two master bedrooms. I feel real bad for him but figure it is his choice to live like that. He sleeps at my feet at night and hides most of the day. He is 8 now and has the most lonely life I have ever seen. I have always had cats and have been an ACO and even fostered never had any problems bringing in another cat.
The last couple of years he has stopped covering up his poop and ends up stinking up the whole top floor. He is an indoor cat but I have thought about letting him outside this summer to put a little excitement in his life. We do have wild animals here and so I would worry about him alot and would hope everyday he comes home and comes home safe. He has all of his claws, I don't believe in declawing unless it is nessesary and he has always used his cat stand to claw on. My poor baby, what's a mom to do.

Oh, poor Leon. He looks just like our cat Tigger that we had when I was a kid. Tigger was a bit neurotic too. Please be careful if you take him outside. My sister has lost more cats than I want to think about to the coyotes in her area.

Maybe Leon isn't really lonely, but prefers to be alone. Just give him lots of love. :D :D :D

He gets as much love as he will allow me to give.
I am afraid to let him out but he needs some excitement in his life, something that will keep him young and healthy. Living up there with nothing to do but sleep all day can not be healthy for him. He was never a player (did not like toys too much).
He has recently started not eating every meal, not sure what that is all about but will keep an eye on him.

Ugh. Your picture of Leon made my heart skip a beat ~ he looks just like my first baby, Chloe. Had her for 16+ years. Dang, I miss that cat.....

I love the name Leon and my guess is he's as happy as a pig in mud to be ruling the roost in his own way!

A dry sponge or a bounce fabric sheet works well too. when we are traveling one of our cats sits on my lap. I use the sponge on my jeans before I get out of the car so I look somewhat presentable. LOL.

jljquilter 03-23-2010 05:38 AM

I have a cat question. I have split foyer house. The windows on the bottom are level with the house. My kittys like to sit and look outside. In the middle of the night we get other cats who are allowed outside coming up to the windows. I fear for my screens and if the windows are closed I get males who mark on the window. I put up a fence but as we all know cats are good at getting where they want to go. Is there anything that would repell them and still allow my kittys to look out? I have tried just a spray bottle but my husband thinks I will be carted off for running out in the middle of the night and chasing cats.

redkimba 03-23-2010 05:53 AM

plant marigolds around the windows? I've read that cats don't like the smell.

I just leave my windows cracked about an inch. Just enough for them to enjoy the night breezes but not so much they can get out or tear up my screens. Not sure bout the outside cats and windows. Our outside cats are wild but have never done anything to the windows when out cats are siting there.

In your pic where the cats are bird hunting there is a kind of bunk bed style hammock thing. What is it called and did you buy it for the cats. We have 2 Norwegian Forest cats who are insiders.

Its the favorite part of a larger toy for cats. Got is at walmat for around $20 a while back. This part was on one side and the other side was 2 layers high and boxed in with red canvas. they loved it, but this is the favorite part so I got rid of the taller half. It was getting old and ratty looking

amandasgramma 03-23-2010 01:01 PM

We have two cats that do similar stunts. I was using pins to post things I wanted to keep on the wall......every morning I'd come in and the pins were gone! One day I caught him.....Dasher was pulling the pins out and dropping them on the floor..one by one....DANG cat!

Now the new things is stealing yarn out of my yarn bag. So I lock it up and gave them a small ball of yarn. Every morning we check to make sure where the yarn is before getting coffee....there's a chance we're booby trapped. One morning the lamp went flying because they'd strung the yarn around the lamp and across the hallway about 4" off the ground!!!!!

Lois-nounoe 03-23-2010 06:44 PM

I found you never give a cat an empty spool for a toy. I put a lot of empties in a cat cube with many other cat toys but found my little female was getting on the shelf under my machine and pulling the spools and empty bobbins off the spool holder inside the door off. Ever put your shoes or boots on and find a bobbin inside??? LOL she also puts her paws inside a plastic barrel of sewing stuff and gets the spools of thread out of there too. Maybe sewing stuff is a "girl" thing!

our youngest cat, Pepper, likes to swipe little things,
she especially likes to sit on my shoulder and take my
earring out of my ear and then runs like crazy with it and
me right behind her. She swiped my car keys once and I
couldn't go shopping. I found them 2 hours later, now I
keep them IN my purse. We've started to call her "klepto kitty".

earthwalker 03-23-2010 09:57 PM

We have a cat a little like Leon, but a longhair tabby...his name is Tigre and he only emerges for love and pats and vast amounts of food. He only makes one major toilet trip a day (outside)...gets it over and done, has a quick scratch on a tree and back inside. Laziest cat we have ever had....our old puss Sarah (16) is a lithe, busy tortie...she looks at him with total disdain, she even prefers the company of the dogs to him!
