I need ideas and suggestions on a quick, easy, and inexpensive costume for my daughter to "dress up" in while she is giving a presentation about the state of Massachusetts. My daughter is in the 5th grade. The teacher gave an example if you were doing a report on Tennessee you could dress as a cowboy. They gave the assignment out on Thursday and I have had a difficult time thinking of anything. Everyones input would be greatly appreciated.

Mass is associated with Pilgrims, the Red Sox, Patriots, Paul Revere, Whaling, The Freedom Trail, the Boston Tea Party (there you've got Indians as well), Boston Brahmins (rich people), Fishing
That's all I got right now, If I come up with more I'll come back :-) |
I am wondering where the cowboys are riding the range in Tennessee... Maybe they mean the country music crowd -- all hat and no cattle.

Paul Revere?

I just did a wikipedia search on Massachusetts:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Massachusetts It would depend on what her subject matter is. If from a historical perspective maybe a pilgrim. If from today's era: Mass is known more for its technology, higher education, health, and political (Kennedy's), arts, musician, and commercial fishing careers. Martha's Vineyard is an island off the the coast of Mass, a part of the same state. |

Make a giant tea bag and she can do the boston tea party

She could wear red socks, carry a fishing pole and a rock (plymouth rock) and wear a pilgrams hat. Then she could talk about many things :)

Oh, and maybe you could pin tea bags on her shirt.
