Naturalmama 09-25-2011 12:13 PM

Is it normally that late?

Granny Quilter 09-25-2011 12:16 PM

They changed the start and end dates beginning this year.

AlwaysQuilting 09-25-2011 12:19 PM

Does anyone like DST?
I'd prefer not to have it.

np3 09-25-2011 12:33 PM

I never remember which is DST. I just go with it.

stitchinwitch 09-25-2011 12:40 PM

Does Indiana have it?

they changed it a couple years ago. I'll tell you it sure makes things here at the hospital complicated w/the computers. Each year everyone thinks it's all going to go well and that all of the vendors have things fixed but normally something goes haywire. Again; hopefully it'll go easier.

cattailsquilts 09-25-2011 01:16 PM

Arizona doesn't do DST, this isn't a change. I absolutely love it!

MawMaw B 09-25-2011 01:16 PM

It's hard on kids who are in school too. Takes them a while to adjust (and teachers too!)

Neither does Hawaii

Nanamoms 09-25-2011 01:49 PM

I hate i!! My body takes until the end of DST to adjust!

carhop 09-25-2011 02:37 PM

I don't care for it I don't know how to set my clock in my truck. the directiond say something about a satellite correcting it but I have had the truck sence 03 and it has never changed

Mrs B 09-25-2011 03:40 PM

Most of Australia begins daylight saving this coming Sunday, 3rd October. Don't forget to put your clocks forward one hour on Saturday night before you go to bed!!!

nativetexan 09-25-2011 03:46 PM

I remember not having it and would go back anytime!!!

Sheila_H 09-25-2011 03:48 PM

I always thought it was in October - Nov. seems like its too late, but what do I know lol unless someone tells me to remember to change it.

Peckish 09-25-2011 04:21 PM

I love DST.

Pam B 09-25-2011 05:26 PM

In answer to Nancy, YES, Indiana now observes DST. We didn't use to...only has been for the past few years. It was a really HUGE controversy in our state whether to adopt, or not.

And, in answer to those who think that Nov 6 seems late to change..you are correct, also. This year it started earlier in March and goes later, into the beginning of Nov.

As a Kdg teacher, I hate it in the spring. Staying light later in the evening causes the kids to be out much later in the evening when they should be home in bed. They are grouchy in the mornings and most kids (and many parents) get the idea that school is over, although we go into the beginning of June. It is such a struggle!

Personally, I love DST...I love having more daylight in the evenings to go out for a walk after the heat of the day has cooled off. I just think it is dumb to change for a few months of the year. I would like us to be on DST all year long. Then nobody would have to worry about how to change their clocks.
And...I have a favorite wrist watch that the stem is too hard to pull out so it is correct in the summer and an hour off in the winter. Too funny.

RenaB 09-25-2011 07:56 PM

I like DST better because it gives us longer daylight days. I just wish it would always stay like that and not go back.

ljsunflower 09-25-2011 08:30 PM

I just wish they would set it at one time or another. This changing stuff is not good.

Willa 09-25-2011 10:12 PM

Hate DST. Why don't they compromise and just go back 1/2 hour this fall and leave it. :)

TacoMama 09-25-2011 10:20 PM

I wish they would leave it on one way or the other!

mzsooz 09-25-2011 10:29 PM

I hate DST. It reeks havoc with my fibromyalgia. Personally I like it to get dark earlier. I'm a night person and that is when I like to do my quilting when it is dark outside.

She's speaking to everyone in Australia.
The USA is "falling back" while they "spring forward" since they're in the southern hemisphere.

Loris 09-26-2011 03:20 AM

I live in Qld in Aussie and we dont have it - It is really annoying cause there is only NT/QLD and WA that dont have it. I love it - lived in the other states in my younger days with young children and loved it. We are a bit backwards here - I hear it fades the curtans and the cows dont know when to come in to be milked - totally incorrect - bring it on

Psychomomquilter 09-26-2011 04:12 AM

way I heard, in ww2 they had dst, 2hrs instead of 1 hr, so be happy with what we do have, oh and the reason for that was for their victory gardens, someone told me that.

TexasSunshine 09-26-2011 04:21 AM

Why do they keep changing the date?

verna2197 09-26-2011 04:26 AM

Yes Indiana now has it and its a big pain in the behind.

You get the same amount of daylight. Only the clocks change. Even the government can't make the sun shine for a longer period of time :-) :)

Suzi 09-26-2011 04:44 AM

The guy who invented DST should have been shot for his idea. I hate the change and feel it's just another of those totally unnecessary happenings .............

Dodie 09-26-2011 04:51 AM

I do not like the time change makes no sence what so ever just politicians puhing their weight around it si so short now why can't they just set one time and leave it alone

My problem is seeing kids get on the school bus before daylight. This doesnt last very long, but it's not a safe thing. Especially on foggy mornings.

Becky Mc 09-26-2011 05:19 AM

I hate it I wish they would just leave time alone, it messes me up sleeping getting up it takes me time to get with it and about that time they change it back

judykay 09-26-2011 06:42 AM

I love DST and hate when it goes back to regular time. I don't like when it gets dark so early.

Debbie C 09-26-2011 06:57 AM

it's Sunday, Nov. 6, and I don't like it either ;(

Owllady 09-26-2011 06:58 AM

Why does life have to be so confusing. I would like to see it stay one way all the time. Guess I don't need the extra time to golf.

j 09-26-2011 07:09 AM

The only thing I don't like about Daylight Saving Time is the people in the East not remembering AZ is three hour earlier than them. So when it changes it is only two hours and then CA and us are an hour apart. Now we are on the same time. -- J
