All my Santas and tree are down and put away. Left all the snowmen up until about Feb then they will be put away.

Roxanne 12-28-2010 07:14 AM

Not until Jan 8th....Family tradition. (Little Christmas)

stewyscrewy 12-28-2010 07:17 AM

I never decorated so hence nothing to take down.

Deb watkins 12-28-2010 07:17 AM

Don't take things down till after Jan 6th and put up my winter displays and such. I have lots of Dept 56 scenes and love to change them during the year.

OmaForFour 12-28-2010 07:22 AM

Christmas lasts til The Epipahy which is Jan 6th. I don't take my things down before that.

munchkinmama 12-28-2010 09:02 AM

I don't take anything down until after Jan 6-the twelth day of Christmas. Sometimes I am still buying ornaments on sale and adding to my tree. I am just not ready to let go of the Christmas joy. It helps that I have all artificial trees. Definitely not ready to pack up Christmas quilts.

auntmag 12-28-2010 09:17 AM

I haven't put up a tree for several years now. That doesn't mean I don't celebrate the season, but after many years of decorating for the kids and grandkids, I am tired of all the decorations. I may change my mind for next year, but right now I love the simplicity of a quiet non decorated season.

AngieS 12-28-2010 09:20 AM

If I feel good when I get home I would like to take my tree down. Not feeling so hot so I may not get to it.

mrs theo 12-28-2010 09:48 AM

If left up to DH, things will be up until the end of January. Prior to marrying him, I always undecorated on New Year's Day. He's really into the holiday decorating (all holidays) and I can think of worse things :-D

aliaslaceygreen 12-28-2010 11:08 AM

Nope. Everything stays up till the Epiphany...(or later!!!)

Cuilteanna 12-28-2010 01:32 PM

Sometimes I take them down before Christmas (if we're going to be away). There is nothing more discouraging than returning home to see all that work waiting for me. If we don't go anywhere then they come down New Year's Day. I always thought the "twelve days" were the twelve days leading up to the 25th!

sewTinker 12-28-2010 01:34 PM

Mine is down as of today. Would have done it yesterday, but had the grandchildren. It's so much more fun putting it up than taking it down... :-(

starlight 12-28-2010 02:20 PM

All gone the day after Christmas.

wraez 12-28-2010 04:23 PM

No, we don't put up our decorations till about a week b4 Christmas and we leave things up till around Jan 6th or the weekend after ... my oldest dd b'day is the 6th and even tho she is going to be 36 we still follow the tradition of celebration Epiphany / Little Christmas with her on or after the 6th depending the day that it lands on.

ilovetosew 12-28-2010 04:54 PM

I'll wait until after New Year's.

JJane 12-28-2010 06:06 PM

Our tree will be up thru the weekend and the rest of the Christmas things will be packed up and put away. The snowman always stay out until March. Can you tell I'm a snowman nut?

kathidahl 12-28-2010 06:53 PM

We are 12 days of Christmas people too like many I read on this thread...nothing comes down until the Feast of the Epiphany - January 6. Nothing goes up very early either..we observe Advent.

quilt queen 12-28-2010 07:00 PM

Our tree always stays up until the third day of January, because our oldest granddaughter's birthday is January 1st and mine is January 2..we usually take the tree down together, but I did start to put all other deco away today..I am going slow...Grandma is tired.

Arleners 12-28-2010 07:41 PM

I wait until Epiphany. The 12 days of Christmas and all that. We don't decorate until the week before Christmas, so I am not tired of it yet.

dixiebelle162002 12-28-2010 07:48 PM

I started dreading having to rebox my decorations while I was putting stuff out. We usually wait till after New Years, but I wish all of it was already done.

Shari1967 12-28-2010 07:50 PM

I started yesterday. I usually wait until New Years day but this year well....our tree actually fell over about 30 minutes after we got it all up - I seriously think it traumatized the tree (live tree). It's lost almost all of its needles. I sit here at night and just hear the needles fall off without the tree even being touched. I'm just so ready to get it out of here. I can't do it all in one day anymore either. I need almost a week to put it all up and a week to take it down

Annz 12-28-2010 09:04 PM

No not yet but soon in 2011

luvTooQuilt 12-28-2010 09:13 PM

Im hiring help to take down and pack up..( the babysitter!!!!) It was a HUGE project putting all the decorations up so I decided to go the easy route taking them down.. Dont get me wrong I love to decorate and put everything out- something in every room practically! But Life is short too many quilts to sew not enough time.. so Im hoping to pack it all up in no time with the help..

Gramof6 12-28-2010 11:30 PM

Our house looks like Christmas never came. Everything back in its proper place & I feel great about that. LOL Today was a busy day cleaning.

gramieb 12-29-2010 09:07 AM

taking down the tree today, but leave out snowmen until feb. or things look so bare.

iamsuthern2 12-30-2010 07:34 AM

my tree was out the door monday...it was dropping needles everywhere!!!! sad to see it go out so quick but we were supposed to go to the fields and cut our own but my hubbie got chicken of the snow and went to lowes. so it was half dead before we started....needless to say it didnt last and rather than worry about fire...out it went....sad to say goodbye to the holidays.

dotcomdtcm 12-30-2010 08:07 AM

I had to take the tree down because it was so dry. Very annoying because I paid a lot of $$ and I usually save it for New Year's Day. Oh well, now I get to really clean the living room.

butterflies5518 12-31-2010 08:57 PM

well all the decorations made it as far as the dining room table - not in the mood to put them in the boxes yet, there is always tomorrow

Happy New Year Everyone!

Our almost 14 foot tree decided to fall over last night at 11:45 pm while we were waiting for the ball to fall. Broken ornaments all over so we had no choice but to clean it up!!

butterflies5518 01-01-2011 04:59 PM

oh my! So glad no one was hurt, and sorry for the treasured broken ornaments.

Brendat0426 01-01-2011 05:48 PM

I generally wait till much much later to take them down. They make my house look so beautiful, but with a baby due on the 15th and starting school on the 18th, taking everything down was not something that I wanted to worry about. So I did it today.

jetnica 01-01-2011 05:56 PM

i'll be taking mine down this week. i'm still on "homebound" from work until the 11th - so i'll probably pack it all away while the bf is at work one day this week.

if it weren't for bf giving me the sad puppy dog eyes i wouldn't have put it up at all this year. i was NOT in the mood at all to decorate or even celebrate this year.

i'm excited to put it all away and move on with my to-do list.

Carrie Jo 01-01-2011 05:58 PM

Iam taking mine down sunday. I cant wait to get my house back in order. I love christmas but I dont like the mess of it all.

hperttula123 01-01-2011 07:26 PM

I usually take my stuff down right after Christmas, but with being sick, I haven't put it away yet. I will...one of these days!!! :)
