Is anyone else taking down their holiday decorations yet. I started today, I only have the tree in our family room left and I will wait until the weekend.

maryb119 12-27-2010 03:42 PM

I plan to take mine down tomorrow. I like things when they get back to normal.

KathyAire 12-27-2010 03:42 PM

Mine are down and put away. I did that today.

Nancy S. 12-27-2010 03:45 PM

Yup mine are down and put away.

suern3 12-27-2010 03:45 PM

I didn't put up much because I didn't want to think about putting it away. Have the tree and just a few Santas. I used to fill our family room with my Santa collection but somehow it doesn' do anything for me anymore. Leaving town for Texas day after tomorrow for 3 months. That probably had something to do with it:)

QuiltMania 12-27-2010 03:46 PM

Nope, I never take them down before the New Year. Probably will do the week after New Years.

QuiltingHiker 12-27-2010 03:49 PM

I am too dang tired. It will have to wait until we get back, day after New Year.

Last year I had everything packed up and in the garage by 12/27th

DebraK 12-27-2010 03:59 PM

all gone.

ncsewer 12-27-2010 04:02 PM

Not yet, usually around New Years
Day

CarrieAnne 12-27-2010 04:02 PM

I like towait til New Yearsday too.

Baysidegal 12-27-2010 04:08 PM

I still haven't seen my grandbabies. We were supposed to have them today, BUT we got snowed in and no one was going out in this weather...so, hopefully, we see them tomorrow. They then go to Maine to see their "Mimi in Maine" for school vacation. THEN I can take down the tree LOL

cjomomma 12-27-2010 04:15 PM

I generally wait til after the new year but the tree in the livingroom had to go. It was sitting where little man's toys go, right now they are in the hallway taking up space. The outside decorations will stay up for now.

lovequilts 12-27-2010 04:15 PM

Mine will be put away tonight. Tired of the "season". I live alone and my daughters/Grandkids are far away. It's hard to hear all the "Family Stuff and see all Happly Ever Holiday Movies" when your alone. I need it to be February. LOL

bluteddi 12-27-2010 04:15 PM

I've gathered things in to a " pile" to put into the boxes. Everything is off the tree and stored, but the tree is still up ( has fiberoptic lighting...) I think it is pretty on it's on. but everything will be packed and stored sometimes this week... I was too busy sewing to getanything else done! smile

littlehud 12-27-2010 04:25 PM

I started today. I want my living room back. Next week we start getting things ready to move youngest out. Sigh.

beachlady 12-27-2010 04:25 PM

New Year's weekend for me. I am tired of looking at it, but too lazy to do it this week.

Chasing Hawk 12-27-2010 04:40 PM

I don't take ours down until New Years Day.

kbs 12-27-2010 04:43 PM

My tree and inside decorations are down, leaving up the outside lights for a while.

Juliebelle 12-27-2010 04:45 PM

Did most of it today, just a few little things to do tomorrow, I love the holidays but after a month I am ready to get things back to normal.

joan_quilts 12-27-2010 04:53 PM

I got mine all put away and am loving it! I am ready to get back to "normal" whatever that is!

Cyn 12-27-2010 05:02 PM

The few things we have are out on the front lawn and covered in snow but will come down and be put away as soon as they thaw!

quiltbugs 12-27-2010 05:26 PM

Mine will be up until at least January 5 or 6....or maybe longer. I love the way the tree looks and like to hold on to Christmas for as long as I can.... until everybody starts thinking I'm loony.

pab 12-27-2010 05:46 PM

All packed up and back in the attic until next year. pab

Maride 12-27-2010 06:03 PM

Why go through the trouble of decorating everything so pretty to take it down so fast? I leave everything around until the 6th of January, the feat of the Magi or Epiphany day. When I was a kid that was the biggest day of the Christmas season and it was celebrated big. It sill is in Puerto Rico. My kids look forward to it. After that, everything can come down.

sueisallaboutquilts 12-27-2010 06:27 PM

I love getting everything decorated early but as soon as Christmas is over I want it to disappear lol
Will get to it soon, not quite yet though :D

Mimito2 12-27-2010 06:39 PM

Christmas tree is down off the ceiling (only place I had to put one since DS & DGS moved in) and all the decorations are in the boxes. The wreaths are in their storage bags. Everything is ready to go to the storage shed. With all the "extra" stuff in my house I had to have the space back.

Snorky Lvs2Quilt 12-27-2010 07:21 PM

probably this weekend will take everything down but right now we still have company until Wednesday.

Boscobd 12-27-2010 07:22 PM

My house was de-decorated by 9:00 AM the day after Christmas. It was even dusted and vacuumed! I love the decorations up before Christmas, but when the day is over, it's time to take them down. I do, however, leave the Christmas quilts draped over the couches and chairs until the end of January.

Honey 12-27-2010 07:32 PM

I don't take anything down until Epiphany. My Christmas village is the worst to take down and put away. Didn't do nearly as much this wears as I did before, so not as much to put away. The Nativity is the first thing up and the last thing down.

happynana 12-27-2010 08:08 PM

did mine yesterday all put away and house back inorder

Prism99 12-27-2010 09:07 PM

Ummmm....... We don't do a lot of decorating, but we do leave the decorated tree up through March most years. We like the colorful lights and cheerfulness of it during the long winter months.

MadP 12-28-2010 02:59 AM

Not yet. I wait until after the 12 days of Christmas.

I put Christmas away on January 6th - Old Christmas Day, as it is known around here. The tree went up on Dec. 24th and comes down on Jan. 6th.

When we were kids, schools didn't re-open until January 7th - we got the full 12 days.

quilter68 12-28-2010 05:41 AM

After Jan. 6th which is Little Christmas when the three Wise men arrived.

QuiltingGrannie 12-28-2010 05:43 AM

I usually wait until New Years Day, but will be waiting longer this year since I have to work that day.

SherriB 12-28-2010 05:48 AM

I will wait until after Jan. 7th. My Mom always called it "old Christmas" and never took down decorations until it had passed.

wanna be quilter 12-28-2010 05:48 AM

We usually do the 12 days of Christmas, but this year we are going away, beginning of January so they will be coming down early. Probably after our grand kids have been at the weekend!!

alleyoop1 12-28-2010 06:04 AM

Usually we leave them up until January 6, but this year our tree is starting to look sad - branches are drooping. So Monday when hubby goes back to work, I'll start to take the ornaments off. Then he can haul it out of here when he gets home.

granny5 12-28-2010 06:38 AM

Took everything down the 26th. Had a great Christmas, but am looking forward to tulips and daffodils.
