It's been a fun day. Thanks for sharing everyone. ICU Loved your story. We live in the country too and I have lots of outside cats that are wild and tame and dropped off out here and they find a bunch of food every night on the porch. But Haven't had an indoor kitty in a while. So It's been fun. Now I know why she is wobbley. DH looked and her right back foot has a nail that has been pulled out. Ouch....So I know I need special litter so she won't gt an infection. Now the fun starts. Never had a cat declawed so no idea procedure. I will call the vet monday and check it out. Thanks for sharing all. I am going to find her and let her sleep on my lap till I am ready for bed. She is so little. HUGS

Deb, I just finished making my first neck pillow, using the leopard fleece I got from you. I'll post pics tomorrow. I made my own pattern from freezer paper & cutting out a form & taping in sections until I got it where I wanted it. It's looks like a big collar. I took 3 yrs of Home Ec in High School, so I can eyeball most objects that aren't too hard well enough that no one can tell that I didn't buy a pattern. I couldn't find a free one online.

CarrieAnne 10-16-2010 07:34 PM

Aw, you are SO lucky!!!!!!!!! Alot of my friends are gettingkittens latly, I WANT one SO bad!!!!!!!!! She is adorable, and Thank you for helping her!

tlrnhi 10-16-2010 07:48 PM

She's adorable!

Jingle 10-16-2010 08:01 PM

Such a sweetie, she is so lucky to have found her. She also needs a scratching post or posts. Claws are hard on furniture and carpets. Now your DH will have something to keep him company when you are running errands, etc.

Naturalmama 10-16-2010 09:03 PM

How precious! Thank you for taking care of her! :)

debbieumphress 10-17-2010 07:22 AM

Sheila Elaine. post the picture and then tell me where it is. Can't wait.
Ok update on the "cute" little kitty. We all know she was wild when she wandered in on the porch. Well, overnight she hs eat a whole can of kitty food and lovs the dry food, had two bowls of milk and now has used poopy doopy on my carpet twice. Mind you I just had all new carpet put in this house last year. Soooooooooooo I looked for her and she was under the recliner and when I reached for her she slapped the fire out of me and ran away. So I found her again and picked her up, she is strong now. So took her to potty box and sat her in it and put the "other" in there so she will figure it out. Now she ran away again. I think now that she is better, the wild is coming back. Hymmmmmmmmmm? We will see.

dreamer2009 10-17-2010 07:26 AM

poor little kitty...
don't forget to clap you hands when she is done Debbie :)

sweet 10-17-2010 07:54 AM

What an adorable addition! Congratulations on your new family member. Now is that fabric for sale? jk - LOL!!!

mollymct 10-17-2010 07:58 AM

So sweet! So lucky she found you. I rescued a kitten once--out walking my dog and I guess she was left near a dumpster and totally helpless! But, that night I found out that I am allergic to cats! (My family always had dogs). Fortunately, a coworker offered her a great home and she is living it up in style with two doting parents!

Shemjo 10-17-2010 08:10 AM

So sorry for the messes on your new carpets. Praying that she will learn real quick what is appropriate. Hate that she slapped you! The wild one reigns right now. Hope she calms down and loves you back.

Well, slapped me on the hand. Not my face Otherwise we would be having a memorial for her. ROFL. She is hiding pretty good right now. I decided to vacuum while Dh was gone this morning and found more poop by my china cabinet. I don't know if I can take the poop. LOL SO I may get her healthy and out she goes. I have been wanting a munchkin kitty. Havent found one yet. Hope this kitty gets her poop together soon....:)

dreamer2009 10-17-2010 11:55 AM

munchkin kitty...what is this ?

jojosnana 10-17-2010 12:05 PM

Hi Deb,
We had a kitten crawl up on our porch 20 years ago. Sugar was the best cat ever. Never a problem. She lived 18+ years and we enjoyed her for each one of them. Carol

CarrieAnne 10-17-2010 12:14 PM

Debbie, she probaly has the runs. Poor thing. Sometimes when they are starved, and cant eat, then they start eating again, tummys cant take it. I wouldcut down on the food a bit, try some white rice mixed with a bit of chicken baby food. Hope she gets better, and it will probaly be a bit before she is tame, just keep working with her!

Darlene 10-17-2010 02:01 PM

I would only give the dry cat food. Mixing the two causes stomach upset.

dyer804 10-17-2010 02:12 PM

You may need to confine her to a room with a hard surface floor until her tummy gets adjusted and she learns about the potty box. We used a Kiddie gate to pin ours into the kitchen - our only room with a hard floor other than small bathrooms. We fed her on one end and had the potty box in a far corner. We took her out for play and cuddles but while we were at work, she was in her corral. It really didn't take long for her to figure things out! Good luck with the little one.

Jingle 10-17-2010 04:44 PM

She is too old for milk, that will give kitties and puppies the runs. After they are weaned - six weeks or so they don't need milk. A good complete dry cat food should be all she needs. Probably has worms also as most kitties and puppies do. A vet check up with a poop sample will tell the story. I have all newcomers tested for feline luekemia and the other one, name won't come to me right now. Good luck.

dutchie 10-17-2010 07:02 PM

Deb, stop feeding her milk. Cats don't have the enzymes needed to digest cow's milk. Keep her to cat food and water. The popsies should pass in a day or so.

Give her time to acclimate to you and her new surroundings. Soft voices, don't grab for her - just be mellow while she figures out which end is up. She'll come around if you give her time.

I have 2 the neighbor dropped in my lap, because I had Mom's cats. I sttarted them off in a large tote lined with a throw away bed liner and a washable bedliner, left over from my mom. And a small litter pan, which I cavered with a fireplace screen to contain them , to keep the dogs and other cats from them. I handle everyday and let them run with the house supervised. They are Tazmanian devils and getting big. I now have an area in the living fenced off, as I am still trying to get the devil out of them. They are on everything and biting the dogs tails. And bullying mom's old cat is blind in one eye.1 is male and 1 is female. I have tried to find at least a home for 1. But no luck. So for now I play zoo keeper. Good luck Debbie. If you cut down her space , I beleive she will calm down, because she will depend on you for her freedom. I have no problems with these 2 being affectionate now. How ever , the youngest dog does!! Awww, the world of jealously amongst the 4 legged children!!

debbieumphress 10-18-2010 05:09 AM

They are all so cute. This morning I took away the milk and left water,. She doesn't have the runs, Just poops in the wrong places., If I can catch her, gently, I will put her in the bathroom with her litter box and all. She gets a few more days to come out and be part of the family. Thanks everyone for the posts and sharing. HUGS

Hey Debbie, I am glad to see the picture of Bella, I wish I could have seen her yesterday when I was there, she is so cute, I am sure she will be happy there with you, and she will learn where the litter box is before to long. Take care and let me hear from you soon. Hugs Grannyp

debbieumphress 10-18-2010 07:53 PM

Still hasn't learned but she is out of hiding now and literally follows me around right at my feet. Have to watch her. I keep putting her in the box so maybe soon. Thank goodness she doesn't have the runs. LOL. Wish you could have seen her too, she was hiding under the fridge. Now sheis on Tony's lap asleep. So cute.

twistedsheets 10-18-2010 08:06 PM

Looks like you got a keeper now!! Enjoy!

SueKitten1 10-18-2010 09:08 PM

Bella is so lucky to have found you and you DH. My last find only weighed 2 pounds when my DH found her. Did the same as you Debbie, and she has turned out to be the sweetest cat!

SueKitten1 10-18-2010 09:09 PM

Cats are such a comfort and so intuned to your feelings.

grannyp70 10-19-2010 04:19 AM

Hi Debbie, it is a good idea to put her in a room by herself with her litter box and in a day or two she will learn to go in her box, that is what the vet told me to do and it works. If she is following you around you are on the good side now. I sure hope that she will make you a good pet, most of them do. I have some that was thrown away and they are really sweet little things, they have adopted Bandit when I take him out they are all over him, he likes them to. So take care and hope things work out with Bella so she will be a good pet for you. Hope you will have a great day, talk to you soon. Great big HUGS to you, give me a call when you have time.

litacats 10-19-2010 04:26 AM

make sure you give her kitten milk as they cannot tolerate lactose. she could get the runs from cows milk,
to train her to use a litter tray after you feed her put her in the litter box and if you see her doing it in the wronge place pick her up at once and put her in the litter box, and clean the area with vinegar where she has been so she doesn't go back to it. good luck with her she is a cutie pie that is for sure

debbieumphress 10-19-2010 06:25 AM

Thanks for the advise on vinegar. Good idea. I have some too. This morning I haven't found any yet but going to look. I came here first. LOL.
