Count me in. Anything has to be better than my performance for November - but this keeps me aware. I've told myself no more than a few times.

Pete 11-30-2014 09:17 AM

I am still trying to get some will power so......count me in ....again!

Raggiemom 11-30-2014 11:37 AM

I'm in! I hope I can resist some of the many Christmas cookies!

jeanne49 11-30-2014 12:02 PM

I'm definitely in again for Dec., mostly because I not only still need to lose weight, but I already send in my FQ several weeks ago.

meanmom 11-30-2014 02:02 PM

I was so bad this weekend. I was shocked when I stepped on the scale and was only up 2 pounds. We went to Hocking Hills with my family. There were 43 of us. We had a 12 bedroom cabin and it was lots of fun. The amount of food was amazing. We did have a lot of salads and veggies and fruit. We went on several hikes etc.
On the way home in the car I started out OK with a DIet Coke and pretzels. Not too bad. Them I had cheese popcorn and some candy. Hopefully I am back to behaving myself, it is only about a 3 hour drive. I stopped at Fabric Shack on the way home. I was bad there too. I spent $70.
Everyone remember to sign up and PM me your weight loss!
Pat

I hear you!!!! I already made 12 batches and plan on making even more! Of course I have to taste test them.

Jim's Gem 12-01-2014 10:19 AM

I'm in for December. I will be gone for 2 weeks of it. One week on a Caribbean cruise with my mother. I'm hoping to not gain!

meanmom 12-01-2014 06:06 PM

I am hoping i can maintain for December. They already have food planned for work the last 10 days. I still need to make cookies. I am making 2 purses for my mom for Christmas. I finished one and I am not happy with how it came out .It is easier to start over then to rip it so I am starting over. I also need to come up with a gift for the guild Christmas party next week. We will also have food there. We are having an officers meeting at Bob Evans coming up too. We are planning next years meetings. We still need to come up with an officers challenge for next year. So many things that invilve food. Maybe I need to have my teeth wired shut:-)

bjsmith57 12-04-2014 12:57 PM

Please count me in for December - - I will be out of town most of December - - but will check in when I can. Take care everyone.

meanmom 12-04-2014 03:35 PM

The winner for November is Jeanne49. She lost 8.25 pounds. Congratulations! Awesome job.
Good luck to all of us in December. It is so hard with all of the parties etc. The food etc starts tomorrow at work. They are ordering in food. I am getting a rueben sandwich. Next week they are starting with the cookies and appetizers etc.
I hope I can do well avoiding most of the food.
I am working on making 2 purses for my mom for Christmas. Hopefully I will finish one tonight. I also need a gift for the guild Christmas party by Tuesday. I just am not coming up with a good idea this year.
Pat

yobrosew 12-04-2014 04:27 PM

I weighed myself on the first but forgot to say, "Count me in!" Never did one of these challenges before but hope to lose something.

jeanne49 12-04-2014 05:09 PM

Well, my sister has, so far, baked 3 batches of cookies, and has more planned for tomorrow and the weekend. I'm really not supposed to eat anything made with wheat flour, but I love cookies. So far I've eaten 2 1/2 cookies, one I split with my sister cause I just wanted a taste - it was a chocolate cookie. I have to make pizzelles but probably won't make those for about another week or so. I just have to keep telling myself - no, no, no - when I walk into the kitchen and see those cans filled with cookies. Of course, weighing yourself every morning helps keep you on track. We'll see how this month goes - good luck to everyone.

Leann 12-05-2014 09:52 AM

Hello Ladies,
Congratulations on your super loss Jeanne! That shows dedication - it takes effort to make the numbers on the scale go down. I hope that December is just as successful for you.

I am down 4# for the week as I have been staying with my son and I just don't eat. I am home for the weekend and it seems I"ve done nothing but eat since getting here.

I'm approaching a panic as the days tick away. I've decided to push my remaining 2 quilts to the front and only do the travel pillows if I have time. We will be leaving the Monday or Tuesday of Christmas week, so I gotta have them done before then.

I also have to allow myself enough time to make my batches of banana bread. This is supposed to be a joyous season, not an exhausting one.

Tell yourself no to just one thing today that you wanna eat that takes you away from the goal you have.

meganc731 12-05-2014 02:51 PM

Oh my gosh, it didn't even click with me that it was December and time to start a new month of weight loss. This is such a crazy time of year!! Am I too late to jump on the wagon? My FQ is already sent in and I have a Fitbit scale so I have my December first weight logged.

Congrats Jeanne on a great month!! Fantastic!

I'm not too disappointed with my November numbers considering everything that was happening that month. I think I pretty much stayed the same. The main thing was Halloween. The candy wasn't an issue, it was the double batch of puppy chow I made for our party that nobody touched. It's my weakness ;) I'm ready for a successful December, it seems like it would be a difficult month to get through but I can't foresee too many off diet days.

Megan

Pat

jeanne49 12-05-2014 07:05 PM

Well I ate several cookies again today. My sister bought a cookie mix - Salted Caramel - and are they delicious. I only had half of one, but I ate 3 lemon cookies. I asked her to stash those tins somewhere that wasn't accessible to me. But I, so far, haven't gained back any of what I lost last month, so I will really have to watch myself. Been trying to get on the eliptical an extra 15 min. each day. I generally do 15 min. in the AM and 15 min in the PM, so I am trying to get on for 15 min. sometime during the afternoon.

CindyA 12-06-2014 04:17 AM

I'm back in, Pat. I'll send FQ asap.

We've already had our work party, so I don't need to worry about that. We have our family parties coming up. I think I'll go with the 'take a small bite of everything I want to try, but not overdo it' strategy. :)

Raggiemom 12-06-2014 12:11 PM

I haven't been on the scale yet but am feeling pretty good. I've been doing much better about snacking in the afternoon (not doing it, I should say!). Of course, I haven't baked cookies yet. That's on the agenda for next weekend :).

Jeanne, congratulations, that's fantastic.

Pat, how did the purses come out? What did you decide to make for your guild party gift? Someone on this board shared a link for a log cabin Santa which looked pretty cool. I might try making that in the new year.

meganc731 12-06-2014 03:49 PM

So much for not having any off diet days!! I had the scariest day yesterday, we really don't know what happened yet, but my 15 year old son was standing on the stairs talking to my daughter and she said it looked like he fell asleep while they were talking and then he fell down. When I got to him seconds later it looked like he was having a seizure, but I don't know if that's what it was as his movements weren't too wild. When he came to he was disoriented and had amnesia. We were at the ER from 5:30pm until 1:30am. He has a concussion, a broken cheek bone, and a huge fat lip and is still a little out of it. We'll know more this week when we can have some tests run. When I left with the paramedics my 13 year old daughter stayed home with my 8 year old daughter and then our friend came and took the girls for the evening. She was so sweet and brought us a bag of cookies from Panera, but as we hadn't had dinner yet and nothing else was available to eat my husband and I shared the bag of cookies. I was so thankful for them!!! I'm just so glad he wasn't hurt any worse than he was. I'm anxious to get him to the doctor Monday morning. He's been sleeping most of the day but is in good spirits when he's awake. My 13 year old was amazing, she jumped right into action and stayed calm and collected and kept her little sister calm through the whole ordeal.

Pam H 12-06-2014 06:19 PM

Wow, Megan, that sounds so scary. I hope your son heals quickly and it's nothing too seriously wrong with him. I think a few cookies were in order with a day like that.
Pat, I would love to see the purses you are making. I am making 2 purses to give as gifts to friends. I got 1 cut out and then the 2nd clue came out for the mystery quilt so it is sitting there quietly waiting for me. I will be doing the same pattern for both. It is a combination of 3 different patterns I have made.
I have to do something to get myself back on track. I have not lost any weight since July. In fact, I have gained 10 lbs since then.

PenniF 12-06-2014 09:11 PM

Scary hardly seems to describe it....it's a miracle he was not hurt worse in the fall. You will be in my thoughts, with hopes that whatever the issue, it is minor and resolved quickly.

Congratulations Jeanne49 - that is a great weight loss at any time - but especially awesome based on the fact that Thanksgiving was in there.

Good luck in December everyone !!

meganc731 12-07-2014 05:57 PM

Update on my boy, he's feeling pretty good now, we have an appointment in the morning with our family physician. Can't wait to get him in. I haven't been on the scale since Friday morning so I don't know where I'm at, but since Friday I've been back on track.

My friend invited me to share a table at a craft fair at an elementary school next weekend so I'll be working on something for that this week.

That's good to hear, Megan. Please let us know what they find. Hope he continues to feel well.

I had book club last night and didn't do great, but didn't do as poorly as I normally do. That's something, right? ;)

Pat, my FQ is going in the mail this morning.

meanmom 12-08-2014 04:44 PM

Meagan that is a scary thing. I hope everything checks out OK> Tomorrow is cookie day at work. Everyone is supposed to bring their favorite cookie to share. Then we are going out to dinner before my quilt guild meeting. It is our Christmas party there so there will be lots of goodies to eat. I hope I can behave myself. I need to finish my purses tonight so I can bring them for show and tell tomorrow. I also want to make one of those log cabin Santa ornaments. I will try to post pictures tomorrow. I still can't figure out how to get the pictures from my iPhone onto the board.
Pat

Pam H 12-08-2014 09:54 PM

I haven't tried to load pics from my iphone. I only do them from my ipad and sometimes it won't let me. No idea why.

I tried to upload pics yesterday and for the first time ever I couldn't. I don't know why, either. I had moved them from my phone onto my computer, which is how I've always done it, but kept getting an error message. I think it said "invalid" or something to that effect. Very frustrating!

Just tried to do it again. The message says "upload of file has failed"

Pete 12-09-2014 07:59 AM

I think I have finally found some will power. Had a luncheon yesterday and when I looked at a few of my college friends, that I have not seen in years, I was in awe. They not only maintained over the years but probably also lost! Granted, I cannot exercise like they do --- but I could zip my lip. Had oatmeal and tea for brkfast and planning on a pear and cheese stick for lunch. Keep fingers crossed.

meanmom 12-10-2014 03:58 PM

Cindy when I upload photos from my camera and I get the upload failed message it is because the file size it too big. You need to make the picture a smaller file. I don't know how to do it. WHen I try to load a photo from my phone it never even gives me the option to upload. I guess I will have to find my camera and do it that way.

Leann 12-10-2014 09:04 PM

I am headed home tomorrow after my 2nd week at my son's apartment. While I did bring stuff to sew on, it just isn't the same as being home. I guess I joined this challenge so that I could reduce my fabric pile. I'm sure not doing anything to drop any fat. Too bad sewing doesn't burn calories - I've sewn like a fiend all year; I'm almost ready for Christmas.

jeanne49 12-10-2014 09:14 PM

Thank you everyone. I have been trying to lose the addl. weight for several years now. I initially lost 88 lbs. about 4 1/2 years ago. I gain a few lbs. several couple of months, but if I knuckle down I lose those few lbs. I still need to lose about 40 lbs. and I it really hard, but then I'm not getting the exercise that I really need, mostly because of knee and hip problems. But I stick with it, but every once in a while I stray but get right back on track. I appreciate the words of encouragement. Good luck to you all.

And to Megan, so sorry to year about your son. Hope all goes well for him.

Thanks, Pat. When I have time I'll play around with that. It is annoying!

meanmom 12-14-2014 10:49 AM

I received a FQ yesterday from Cindy A. I went to an ornament party last night. I was babysitting my 2 GS so I took them with me. It was really fun. The food was disappointing. Not much yummy stuff so I did behave myself. I am hoping to get my tree up today. I just can't get motivated to do it.

Pete 12-14-2014 07:18 PM

5 parties this past week...the food was great at all of them. Only 2 more parties to go.
Even with my sinuses bothering me, was able to enjoy , and then hate, the food for being so good.
Only 10 more days until Christmas!!! HAve to get the gifts wrapped.

meganc731 12-15-2014 10:22 AM

Hey all! My son is doing really well. He has a cardiology appointment on Wednesday but at this point we've pretty much narrowed down the reason for his fall to dehydration. He's back at school for half days for the next three days and then he can go back full-time.

This weekend I went to a craft fair but I was disappointed in my sales. I made minky taggies for babies and a minky quilt but the only thing I sold were felt flower rings I made last year and a pin cushion ring. I'm not sure anyone was really selling anything although there were a lot of people that came to look. At least they were fun items to experiment with and I have gifts stocked up now ;)

Raggiemom 12-16-2014 01:41 PM

megan731, glad your son is doing well. That's too bad about the craft fair.

I feel for those of you who've been attending parties. I baked cookies for my husband's work but then unfortunately that left too many leftovers here. I've been misbehaving some this week :( Hopefully I'll get back on track VERY soon.

meanmom 12-16-2014 07:05 PM

Megan,so glad to hear your son i doing well. There has been food at work all week. Tomorrow we get to wear our PJ's to school. The teachers were all getting a little bit crazy at lunch today discussing whether we have to wear a bra with our PJ's. It was fun. The kids are really wound up. Our last day is Friday. Several of the teachers have the flu. The idiots on the school board lowered the pay for substitute teachers in our district so we can't find subs. I had to be the sub on Friday, not that they will give me sub pay. Our district has the lowest pay in the area.
I have tons of Christmas shopping to finish. I am just not inspired this year or motivated to get it finished. I need a $15 dollar gift for Thursday, no idea what to get. It is for another teacher. I also need a $15 gift for my family exchange.
My eating has been awful. I need to get it back under control.
Pat

meanmom 12-17-2014 07:51 PM

I feel like I am doomed to get sick. The teacher was out most of last week, first one of her kids had the flu, then she got it. The Dr told her to stay home until Thursday. She came back Tuesday. She felt awful and was exhausted so I taught most of the day. Today she felt so nauseous and chilled she went home at 10:30. 3 of the 4 kids I was working with had various sick complaints all day. My throat is a little bit sore. I'm not sure if it is from talking too much. I am not used to teaching all day, which I did the last couple of days. I am an aide, I don't normally teach all day. I guess I will see how I feel in the morning.
