Because of my Multiple Chemical Sensitivities, I use Seventh Generation Free and Clear Automatic Dishwashing Detergent. I use white vinegar as a rinsing agent. My dishes look great, there is no smell in the house, my dishwasher stays clean and it is very inexpensive to use these environmentally safe products.

I just had a dishwasher installed and the guy told me that liquid dishwasher soap was clogging the lines, GE recommends Cascade gel packs, so far I've not had any problems with it.

Wow - what a surprise to find my favorite hometown TV station on this link.

We are having the same problem, so I guess I pick up dishwasher cleaner at the store today.

we have an arobic sewer system and the mfg. recomends to use all liquid soaps, i figured once it gets wet it's all liquids, lol, maybe not

Have another hint for you...........I was having a problem with scum on everything. Found out that you should run dishwasher through a cycle with a product called "Dishwasher Magic"- cleaner and disinfectant. I was using the liquid at the time.
Everything came out sparkling. I do it about every 4 months or so depending on use(family size, etc...) I bought the first bottle at Walmart in the disherwasher soap area, and this last time at Lowes in one of those center aisle quick sale promotions sets.

This has been an issue with my dishwasher. That and I have really hard water here.
It has helped to use a little Lemishine in the dishwasher with the detergent.
