Apparently gray is the new neutral, when it comes to the up-and-coming fabric collections.

And so I'm wondering.... do you have any gray in your house?

amma 06-23-2011 04:36 AM

Not now, I used to have a litte touch of grey in my pink and black bathroom though LOL

It is too grey here 9 months out of the year now... :D:D:D

janRN 06-23-2011 04:38 AM

Yes. Our bedroom is pale grey with burgandies and black. It's actually pretty neutral. That's why I use a lot of grey in my quilts.
Now if you're talking about my hair, I recommend Nice & Easy haircoloring.

I don't have gray in my house but have started using it in quilts... I don't think I'd like gray walls in my house but in quilts I love it.

We're doing some minor remodeling and afterwards will be painting all the downstairs rooms and have been thinking of light gray. It would be a nice change from the beige walls we've had for years, the gray looks so cool when viewed on those TV redecorating shows.

I once rented a furnished apt. that was all done in black, gray and white. Talk about depressing. Even the bathroom fixtures were black. Only good thing, toilet never looked dirty.

Favorite Fabrics 06-23-2011 04:45 AM

Gray hair! I should have known someone would mention it!

Hadn't thought about the cats, though!

Ok, looks like I do have two sources of gray in my house then!

MelodyWB 06-23-2011 04:49 AM

I have a large design wall (White) just read where a grey is a better color..so on my smaller design wall I covered it in light grey..I must say.. I like the effect it gives off..thinking of trying it somewhere else as a neutral !!

Airwick156 06-23-2011 04:49 AM

I have gray hair. But I do have a couple little peices of gray fabric and a gray crayon.

BMP 06-23-2011 04:54 AM

I just got rid of all the gray in my house, it was to depressing during the long winter months !!!

redvette54 06-23-2011 04:59 AM

Just my roots, but I take care of it every month. LOL

dmyers 06-23-2011 05:00 AM

I love using gray in my quilts!

Painiacs 06-23-2011 05:05 AM

Just on my head and hubby's head and beard!!

SparkMonkey 06-23-2011 05:06 AM

We have a gray bathroom and a gray hall. I like it. In my last apartment, my living room was a brownish gray (the paint was called "mushroom" ).

I love neutral and warm grays. I do not care for cool grays. One of my favorite color combinations is gray and citron!

ckcowl 06-23-2011 05:07 AM

i don't but i am ALWAYS SEARCHING for fabrics that read gray---grays seem to be so hard to find- if it is coming out as a new neutral i am excited!
i have so many quilt patterns-ideas that need that gray that i search and search for- and it isn't all that easy to create your own...
yea gray!

mythreesuns 06-23-2011 05:18 AM

No gray in our house either. Some people need to know when enough of a color is enough. I remember way back when we bought our house...everything was a olive green (inside and out)except three rooms (out of 8)one was not painted walls, one was a bedroom and was bright yellow with lime green carpet, and the kitchen was bright yellow with fruit (huge print) wallpaper. The walls were green, carpet was green, curtains were green. We think they got a great deal on a 55 gallon drum of the paint.

virtualbernie 06-23-2011 05:19 AM

My livingroom and dining room are gray

Sallyflymi 06-23-2011 05:19 AM

Have light gray tile on my floors. Love it. color blends with just about anything.

carslo 06-23-2011 05:48 AM

Grey ceramic tile in main bath and kitchen and laundry room.

blueangel 06-23-2011 06:05 AM

Only my hair, but only my hair dresser knows.

lheartsl 06-23-2011 06:24 AM

My couch is charcol gray, and my rug is a light/med grey....

sewcrafty 06-23-2011 07:07 AM

Not in my house now, but I use to have a bathroom that was light grey and navy. It was soo pretty.

Willa 06-23-2011 07:13 AM

Hate gray. If gray is the new color they can keep it.

ontheriver 06-23-2011 07:13 AM

I have some in two places, my stash and my hair.

DogHouseMom 06-23-2011 07:15 AM

yes, one room has grey walls and grey and brown carpet.

I am ACTIVELY looking for grey batiks that don't have a lot of patterning/print to them. IOW - they read as a solid from the galloping horse. Grey batiks are harder to find than red batiks.

My carpeting throughout the house is light gray, my marble is dark gray. I decorate very modern/minimalistic and have always preferred gray over tans or beiges. My colors are red, black, white and gray.

grammiepamie 06-23-2011 08:23 AM

I use grey in my sewing and I sometimes use a light grey quilting thread. I also like to crochet with grey thrread. Weird huh??!!??

sisLH 06-23-2011 09:03 AM

My sister has three pale silver walls and then a very deep red one -striking!

leatheflea 06-23-2011 09:09 AM

Oh gosh yes and I hate it. Honey loves the color, gray paneling in the bedroom, it depresses me to go in there, gray walls and carpet in the den, YUK! I know its the rage right now and I'll be glad when it passes.

collady 06-23-2011 11:37 AM

I have lots of gray in my house, almost all on my head!

JenniePenny 06-23-2011 11:42 AM

In one bedroom, we painted it a very pale grey. It's a Behr paint and the name of the color was Tsunami sky. It really looks very nice, not gloomy at all. The carpet in there is a slate grey, and there is some black and metallic furniture.

grannyQ 06-23-2011 01:37 PM

We had our house painted on the outside with light gray, black shutters, and white trim. Only gray hair on the inside.

maryb119 06-23-2011 02:53 PM

I used to have gray carpet. It was great because it goes with anything.

wanda lou 06-23-2011 11:12 PM

every room in my house is a shade of gray from very light to very dark. we love it.

mmonohon 06-23-2011 11:28 PM

Lots.

Radiana 06-23-2011 11:52 PM

We have grey in the hallway and grey in the bathroom. Our bathroom used to be pink but I much prefer the grey because you have more choice in the accent colors. I have black towels and chocolate brown and rust color towels that I change every few days. Yellow also looks great with grey but I don't dare use yellow towels not with two little grandsons who don't always get all the dirt off their hands when they wash them.

fidgety 06-23-2011 11:52 PM

YEP our living room is light grey with dark brown furnitue. My DH had painted it that color before we married.. Ilikeit.. It has some masculine feel but not enough to make me wanna paint it yet, lol
