If/when you drink coffee, hot tea or any hot beverage
do you like to use certain cups or mugs depending on
what your drinking?

I do, if I am drinking coffee I use one of four mugs, but
most often it is my mickey mouse mug that I like to use.
When I drink hot tea I like to use my celestial seasonings
mug I have or a clear cobalt blue mug. But when I drink
hot chocolate I will use any mug except the big ones.

What are your preferences (if any)?

i like a bone china cup and saucer for hot tea - it seems to cool off faster so I can drink it right away. Coffee - not too fussy.

Yes I have a certain mug I prefer. Mine is an old thick ceramin mug. It was purchased at a auction. It has the Cummins Engine Co. logo on it. My father retired from there about 20 yrs. ago.

I have 2 favorite mugs a christmas mug for coffee and for hot tea I use my Pug mug

ssgramma 10-08-2011 12:38 PM

(ex)DIL gave me a large pottery mug one Christmas with a black kitty on it. It is for my coffee. For tea, hot toddys, hot chocolate it depends on the drink.

I have a mug from Cornell University (where one of my daughter's attend many moons ago). That I use for coffee. I have a bone china mug I purchased in Harrods several years ago - that's for tea. For hot chocolate I use any of the other mugs in the kitchen. When I have company, I drink from the coffee cups to go with my dinnerware, just like everyone else!

harrold48 10-08-2011 01:15 PM

China teacup and saucer for tea. My genealogy mug for coffee. A large glass mug for hot chocolate. Now I need to make myself drink more water. Maybe a special glass is required.:)

several months ago, my favorite tea mug, which i'd been using for over 10 years, developed a crack. my daughter had given me a mug from her university. it was the right shape, but i couldn't tell how dark the tea was because it was maroon. i looked everywhere for a white straight sided 18oz replacement that didn't require an arm/leg in postage to order. finally, i was in GW one day and saw a large volume mug, but it was polkadots with a yellow inside. for the price, i grabbed it anyway. now it is my new fav. even my 4yo DGD made a comment that she liked it. :)

Granny Quilter 10-08-2011 01:18 PM

My coffee mug is cobalt blue glass with a wolf, (I have 2 of them, so if one is dirty), for tea, adifferent blue one, ceramic, and when I have company, like next Tue. when the knitting club is coming, I wash my collection of mugs from places I've been.
I have about 50 hanging on a wall.

MisDixie 10-08-2011 01:28 PM

I like big mugs for the coffee and china tea cups for the tea. One of my pet peeves is someone using my favorite mug at work. We all bring in our favorite mugs. One person on staff will grab my cup then say "you really don't mind do you?" Drives me up the wall!! So now I take the coffee and tea in a big insulated stainless steel mug and never let it out of my hand.

Judith1005 10-08-2011 01:29 PM

not a general prefrence...but, i go for bright mugs. they cheer me up. i'm not really a morning person anymore and it makes me happy to see something cheery. besides, if i get a favorite...someone always breaks it.

Mad Mimm 10-08-2011 01:34 PM

I have one mug plus a back up that I will use if the other mug is dirty. I am also picky that it must be a clean mug - rinsed just won't cut it! I am a total dork that way!

Oh yes. A couple of years ago my hound Xandy Bear was Grand Marshall of a Waddle(basset hound rescue fundraiser), We rode on the back of a convertible and everything. An artist associated with basset rescue did amazing art work of her riding in a 1958 Corvette, red, of course. Anyway she so captured miss Xandy Bear bearly fitting in the car(she's so vain) holding a bunch of roses, wearing a tiara and waving to her "subjects". I absolutely love the BIG mugs I had made with this artwork and smile every day when I have coffee. It's REALLY fun riding on the back of a convertible.

grammiepamie 10-08-2011 02:31 PM

My mother gave me a set of white mugs from William Sonoma and I have a set of Mikasa Ultima+ (white also) I use one or the other for coffee and for tea I have the Princess house clear crystal tea pot and cupps and saucers for tea. I won the princess house tea set for having an enormous princess house party. I've had them for a long time and guard it with my life.I love to drink chai tea from them.

bearisgray 10-08-2011 02:35 PM

a clean one

brushandthimble 10-08-2011 02:38 PM

I like a large coffee cup, close to 2 cups size. For tea, I like to, one I travel with and use at work, it is spill proof and does not leak. Other than that, almost any cup not to large for tea, or hot chocolate.

leiladylei54 10-08-2011 02:44 PM

I have several favorites and because I would NEVER be able to replace them, I won't use them. How's that???? Hubby uses one that says..."Everything tastes better with dog hair in it."

I would love to see a picture of it!!

I don't drink coffee or tea, and have a hard time keeping a mug because my sister is such a fumble fingers they are constantly being dropped. (We only have corelle dishes.)

luvnquilt 10-08-2011 03:26 PM

Any of my fiesta ware mugs :)

gmaybee 10-08-2011 03:35 PM

My son does pottery and any of the mugs he gives me keeps the coffee hot for a long time. I usually grab those first. I do have a lot of seasonal Lang mugs I like.

Hen3rietta 10-08-2011 03:39 PM

Absolutely! I've my coffee mugs and my tea mugs.

Stitchnripper 10-08-2011 04:04 PM

I like to drink hot things out of a straight sided mug with a handle that will accommodate at least 3 but preferably 4 of my fingers. I don't like drinking out of styrofoam. I like to drink cold things out of a glass or cup without a handle and like to use a straw.

vixen 10-08-2011 10:27 PM

I love my Best Friend's mug, my sister and I have..We feel more connected sipping our tea/coffee out of our matching mugs while chatting on the phone..And I'm a moderator in a group on cafe mom, I was granted my request of getting a cafe mom coffee mug...I'm soooooo excited to get it...That will be my next favorite..Then I want my kitchen in the coffee theme, so I collect coffee mugs with the coffee, tea, cappicino etc on them..It's a work in progress that someday I'll be done with..lol...

lunagrandquilter 10-08-2011 10:42 PM

This is so funny- my favorite mug is a Minnie Mouse mug. The handle broke off and I glued it back on with Gorilla glue so I can continue to use it. Did I mention it is huge? It must hold at least 22 ounces. I hate small cups.

Moonglow 10-08-2011 11:26 PM

I like a large mug for coffee and a fine china cup or mug for tea.

damaquilts 10-09-2011 02:43 AM

I sure do. I have a Beatles Yellow Submarine mug for coffee and an Eyore mug that I use for soup and hot chocolate. No one else EVER uses my mugs. LOL

JHolm 10-09-2011 03:04 AM

I have a large mug that says "Caution, Senior Moment In Progress!" that I use for my coffee. I use a smaller mug for my tea. I prefer mugs to cups, I like to be able to get a good grip on the handle.

jeannie t 10-09-2011 04:56 AM

Always my mug with my shih-tzu's pic

The BIGGER THE BETTER!!!!!

My sister got me a beautiful set of ceramic mugs for my birthday one year. I use those ones all the time. When I use it I think about my sister and how wonderful she is.

mhollifiel 10-09-2011 06:09 AM

My DH and I take "turns" fixing coffee for each other in THE favorite mug. It's become an "I love you" between us! It looks like a short Bavarian mug with a little projection all around the bottom. His first MIL gave it to all the SILs for Christmas eons ago and he loves it. Unbeknownst to me, I chose it to make coffee for myself when we first became a couple which thrilled him. I chipped it the other day just a bit and, though we still use it, I need to find a replacement. Have looked everywhere but no luck~

I will drink from one for a long time until something else comes along. My all time favorites are packed away right now. Will unearth them one of these days.
