Just had some dental work done. Seems when mt arthritis is real painful I grind my teeth. So much so I had no enamel left on my top two front teeth. He filled them & strongly recommended a night guard (again). Used it last night for the first time. It kinda felt odd, had to sleep with a tissue. That thing made me drool. Will I get used to the guard, I can see it spending it's life in a cup.grin.

I used a football mouthpiece that you form to your teeth It took a while but I got used to it, I clench my teeth so tight my jaw hurts in the morning unless I use it. Cost me less than a dollar!

My daughter uses a night guard. It takes a little while to get used to. She has TMJ. She says it makes a difference. Her jaw stays in place and don't hurt.

I can't sleep without one if I want to save my teeth. TMJ and a grinding when in pain is a bad combination. You'll get used to it. I am now using a youth size soccer guard because I refuse to ever have that fitting cr-- in my mouth again. The last time I had it done, it made me sick and the tech wouldn't take it out for a minute. When I came out, I told the dentist never again. Four days later he called to say the lab had broken my mold and I needed to start over. NO!

I've been using an acrylic one that my dentist made for me. I use it religiously every night. I was grinding my teeth so much that I was cracking them. I think I put one of his daughters through college by needing crowns on my back molars. It does take awhile to get used to them, but its worth it in the long run.

I have TMJ and it helps a lot to stop the tension on my jaw. No more morning headaches. Keep at it the drooling will stop once your mouth is used to it :)

Same with me, my dentist takes his staff to Disney World, I was so happy to pay for that...anyways i loved mine until I lost a tooth and couldn't afford to have a crown put in and then the nite guard didn't fit anymore. i guess i will try a sports one, because I was really cracking my teeth. I catch myself doing it in the daytime also when stressed. i wake up with such a sore jaw and neck even headache sometimes...i really didn't thing of using a soccer one....thanks so much.

Thanks for comments. Good to know I'm not the only one. Also, Jade good to know the drooling will stop. That's a big issue for me. I'm also glad to see it is almost invisable. Fits perfectly over my top teeth & snaps into place.I had it done in Mexico. A through cleaning & polishing two fillings & mouth guard for a total $245.Thank goodness for insurance, cause those $$'s could buy lots of fabric.

Keep using it if you can. It takes a while to get used to it but it is worth it. I have worn mine for years and hate to sleep without it. My grinding is so bad at times that I even do it during the day and have broken my teeth and crowns. My first two were soft and I bit right through them. The one I have now is hard and it works better for me.
