Do you have plans for Memorial Day Weekend?

craftybear 05-16-2010 07:03 AM

Hubby and I are going to be cleaning the garage out. He doesn't know it yet, ha ha

Charlee 05-16-2010 07:15 AM

We'll be going camping! :) That's our anniversary weekend, and we haven't gotten to go out yet this year...

montanaquilter 05-16-2010 07:17 AM

taking our new boat to helena. going to visit the inlaws for the entire weekend!! camping, fishing, boating and possibly some shopping--if anything is open!!

Pam 05-16-2010 07:22 AM

Hubby will be working, so I'll be sewing.

Barbm 05-16-2010 07:23 AM

thought we were headed to stepd's in NC, but my work schedule is not permitting me to go. So- DS and DH are going, leaving me behind to care for dogs and work. Please do not tell them I will enjoy the time alone. Although I would love to go, it is the end of the month, my busy time and I really can't go. We are planning to go in July so it's not so far away.

I plan on working (surprise) and then some gardening and if the weather is good- staining the decks. Monday, having a picnic here for those who don't have anywhere else to go.

DMinL's 90th birthday celebration!
Sure hope the weather is nice so we aren't all crammed inside.

edited to add: Boy, I really need to get rid of those snowpeople...

We're leaving Wednesday for the Snake River up by Idaho. We meet 4 other couples yearly for our "fish camp" We'll be there until after Memorial Day weekend. While there, we women take off for Halfway, Oregon to the neatest quilt shop you've ever seen!!! They have a great selection --- they have nothing else to do over there in the winter!!!!

craftybear 05-16-2010 08:41 AM

sounds like a fun trip to the quilt shop

Since I am not working yet, too broke to do anything and now the days seem to blend in. I guess I'll let the boys sleep in and then go on a trip to Lake Champlain...across the street. McDonald's has a nice beach behind (not my idea of a beach, having grwn up in Puerto Rico, but it will do), and get them some ice cream.

oldswimmer 05-16-2010 08:45 AM

Celebrating my babies 25th birthday! And hitting the flea market!

oldswimmer 05-16-2010 08:48 AM

Charlee, Happy Anniversary! (a little early)

You know, camping would be a great idea. My husband and I camped on our wedding day... in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Mellina 05-16-2010 08:52 AM

I'm going to sit on my ass as much as possible.

CarrieAnne 05-16-2010 09:41 AM

We usually have a small cookout with family, DD is getting her associates degree, so we will be celebrating that!

Gramof6 05-16-2010 10:03 AM

DH will be working so I will be sewing & enjoying the QUIET!

Thanks! :)

I don't know that we'll make MD weekend our "Annual Dinner Party at the Lake"....but we'll be taking the dutchovens and using them...we eat better when we're camping than we do at home!

brushandthimble 05-16-2010 10:19 AM

When my son was growing up we always had a good size cookout with family and friends. Also son's birthday.
This year foster daughter and her BF are coming to stay for 4 or so days. We are planning on a Harry Potter LOL

quiltinghere 05-16-2010 10:32 AM

No major plans - probably something off the grill, yard work and naps.

May get lots of sewing time in if it's a rainy weekend.

For all the stay at home doing nothingers - we should have a SEW IN. Just post what we're working on during the day.

BABAREEBA 05-16-2010 02:48 PM

I am driving up to my friends home in Wisconsin, I am taking my machine and projects, we will shop and sew.

SuziC 05-16-2010 03:19 PM

Mellina: Great idea LOL
We are going to open our pool.....finally!

QuiltMania 05-16-2010 03:38 PM

Watching older son march with the band in the parade and then enjoying the peace and quiet.

BellaBoo 05-16-2010 03:41 PM

DH asked me last week if I had any plans made for Memorial weekend. He has tickets to a sport convention type show which I do not have any interest in at all so he'll be gone for two days. I may go to Branson, it's an easy 4 hour drive, to window shop and see a few of the shows.

PALS65 05-16-2010 03:58 PM

I will be camping with friends and horses. We are going to a Wisconsin State Park that is for horses only. It is a beautiful place to camp. My friend's husband nor mine go along so they are home to take care of the other critters.

I am hanging here. There is a wedding on Saturday that my DH is performing, a really small one, so will try and go to that. I have knee surgery on the 25th so plan on being a gimp for a little bit.

Honey 05-16-2010 07:11 PM

Around here, Memorial weekend is the traditional garden planting time. I hope to get all of my flowers out the week before and then on to the veggies. DH is usually in the parade with out local Legion, but his legs are a lot worse this year, so don't know about that. I'm sure I'll sneak some quilting in there, too.

Ahhh - :( it was going to be the first thread started by me...but I didn't know what area to put it under.

Thanks for starting it CraftyBear :)

We are headed up to our cabin. If the weather is nice, we'll do some boating. Bonfires, for sure and definitely relaxing! Maybe some quilting too....

BKinCO 05-17-2010 07:03 AM

Hey Charlee! That's our anniversary weekend too! When did you get married??? We're May 28, 1988.

We are going camping with a group of friends-about 18 of us total including the kids. It always so fun to go camping in groups-the good times to be had are many :-) I am going to take some hand sewing with me as I am in the process of learning needle turn applique and it will be a great way for me to relax.

R & R after this weekend's DD graduation and a houseful of company!!!

Zephyr 05-17-2010 07:48 AM

We are participating in Patriotic Sunday at church with the choir and handbells music honoring our service folks past and present. Then I have two wedding quilts to finish.

Aurora 05-17-2010 08:02 AM

I will spend some quiet time at sun rise to honor those who gave so much of themselves during the Vietnam War. So many of my classmates lost their lives and many more still live that war as part of their daily lives. War is indeed "HELL!"

Quilt4u 05-17-2010 08:04 AM

I took an extar day off. Planing on quilting. It's my Birthday That weekend.

memephyl 05-17-2010 09:52 AM

I too will spend the weekend honoring those who gave their lives for our Freedom. DH is Legion commander and Korean War Veteran and I am proud to have married into a family who gave so much to our country. My BIL was 20 year navy man as is his son. My other BIL is MIA from Korea and my DH gave 6years to Navy.
