I was just wondering how many of you all play a musical instrument? I keep my violin in the same room as my sewing machine and it's great to every once in a while take a break and fiddle out a tune! :D

CAROLJ 07-30-2010 06:46 PM

Clarinet

CarrieAnne 07-30-2010 06:57 PM

I always wished I had learned to play one!

pstoner 07-30-2010 07:00 PM

Clarinet, saxophone, piano

nursie76 07-30-2010 07:01 PM

Piano and organ and have a guitar that I am trying to learn to play.

grammyp 07-30-2010 07:02 PM

I can barely play the radio. I took guitar lessons many years ago, but the teacher quit.

Beth33 07-30-2010 07:05 PM

Very funny! Were you always such a troublemaker??? ;)

I play the flute and the piccolo. (whole family is musical: DH plays piano & saxophone, kids each play: flute & piccolo for oldest dtr, middle dtr plays trumpet, piano, and is a soprano soloist, youngest plays trombone and also sings) We couldn't live without music!

Linda1 07-30-2010 07:21 PM

Piano but it only the old time gospel.

lilpoohbearie 07-30-2010 07:36 PM

JJs 07-30-2010 07:55 PM

french horn - just played a July 4th concert in a community band and we meet next week to figure out our next program...

play the guitar

can play something on violin, piano, clarinet, sax, flute, trumpet, cello, lap dulcimer, recorder, harmonica - is that all?

jackkip 07-30-2010 08:00 PM

I played French Horn in High School. Now I just stick with the Piano. I play every now and then at church. Used to play every Sunday. Piano is kind of like quilting....Practice, Practice, Practice....

mom-6 07-30-2010 08:05 PM

Took piano lessons growing up. Tried to learn how to play the guitar as a college student. Played handbells in church handbell group for several years (lots of fun!)

I have always wanted to play hand bells. Never attended a church large enough to have a handbell choir. Maybe someday......

Marlys 07-30-2010 08:52 PM

Main instruments are piano & flute. I have also played (in the past) piccolo, oboe, saxaphone, and clarinet. I also do a bit of singing.

Ditter43 07-30-2010 08:54 PM

I play "at" the piano. I can play a harmonica, but not real well. I played the guitar for years, even used to sing and perform. Have written dozens of songs, some have been recorded but no hits.I seldom play now because of my back. My DH says he misses hearing me play and sing.

lalaland 07-31-2010 12:19 AM

played drums as a kid and learned to play piano as an adult, nowadays I sing in a couple groups

raptureready 07-31-2010 12:24 AM

I used to play the organ and the piano but haven't in a long time. Now I'm best at playing CD's. Age, stiff fingers, lack of practice have all taken their toll.

tweetee 07-31-2010 12:51 AM

I used to play Flute, Clarinet and Bass Clarinet when I was in highschool in the school band, in the Western Region Band of my State too. too. Since then, I only play with sewing machines lol.

fliedermaus 07-31-2010 02:29 AM

Piano, guitar, bass guitar, alto recorder. I play recorder in a consort and we've performed publically with very good reviews, but I confess to being the remidial player in the group... I think I hold them back haha!

RevPam 07-31-2010 04:48 AM

I play flute, piccolo, clarinet, trumpet, piano and tag!
The flute is the only thing I own anymore.

Just the radio.

redkimba 07-31-2010 06:23 AM

Learned to play the recorder back in middle school. I want to learn to play the psalter, but that will have to wait until I get the money for one (and the time). (may be next year on that one...)

**example of how it sounds; it's the instrument being played on top of the harp

leatheflea 07-31-2010 06:36 AM

The spoons, and the nose flute, and tamborine(anybody can shake it!) Tinkered with piano until I gave it to my son, he plays guitar, piano, bango, harmonica. I'm his vocalist. Youngest son plays guitar. Daughters a percussionist.

mollymct 07-31-2010 11:06 AM

I played the clarinet in school, and the piano since I was about 7. Nothing now, unfortunately. I would love to have a piano again! Haven't since living at home. I am thinking of trying the guitar. I wish I could sing!

JanetM 07-31-2010 11:32 AM

No..I wish I could play a piano. I can sing...does that count?

pab58 07-31-2010 11:33 AM

I used to play the oboe -- about umpteen years ago!

cattailsquilts 07-31-2010 11:38 AM

I was a music ed major in college, main instrument is the flute. I also play piccolo, french horn, trumpet, clarinet & sax. I can fake it on the piano & oboe, & make noise on the trombone. Stringed & percussion have always eluded me, though.

debbieumphress 07-31-2010 11:58 AM

I play on my piano every chance I get. In igh school played allreed instruments in ALl district so he could move me around. Alto-clarinet, bass clarinet, clarinet, Sax,oboe. Love my piano. It is a black WErlizer my dad bought for me in 1965 when he was in Veitnam. Camr for my 9th birthday. It is still in excellant shape. Keep a humidifier on thek eyboard under. We have a lot of talented people here. If welived closer we could have a QB band. :)

MadQuilter 07-31-2010 12:04 PM

Guitar - many moons ago and it wasn't pretty. I did play on a guitar once that belonged to Elvis. Poor guy probably turned in his grave when he heard me molest the poor thing.

Harmony 07-31-2010 12:12 PM

Played guitar in high school and college. Started playing banjo as an adult--at least until I was about 8 months pregnant with my first daughter, and she just couldn't stand the noise, so she kicked the bejeebers out of me, so I stopped. If I ever get caught up, I'll pick up the banjo again--you can't be sad around a banjo!

quilter1 07-31-2010 01:36 PM

I play the piano. My instrument is a beautiful Heintzman upright grand that was purchased for my mother when she was a teenager. A family heirloom.

ann clare 07-31-2010 01:56 PM

I play the piano. Not an expert, but I like it.

paintstoregirl 07-31-2010 02:06 PM

I play the piano. But now it's only when the regular pianist isn't at church. I've always wanted to learn to play the handbells too.

simplecomforts 07-31-2010 02:18 PM

I played the trumpet in grade school, middle school and high school. I have the same trumpet sitting in the same case and sitting in my spareroom. I cannot play it my lips are to old.

Lostn51 07-31-2010 03:24 PM

Play the Guitar and Bass, and Steve Vai is one of my major influences.

Billy

mamaw 07-31-2010 03:27 PM

I played the clarinet in school; but haven't touched it since.

HeatherQuilts 07-31-2010 04:08 PM

I played percussion (drums :P ) in from age 10 through high school and for a bit afterwords in a community band. I really miss it! I think I may have to find another community band to join....
:D
