Great marketing idea!

babasil 07-02-2011 04:35 AM

Read to grand children and now my great grandaughter, they all love it.

cjr5107 07-02-2011 04:43 AM

I read it to my children and now my grandchildren

Kuusistoquilter 07-02-2011 04:51 AM

I read it to my kids, and it was one of the first books I bought for the grandkids. The quilt looks adorable.

Grandma Peg 07-02-2011 05:23 AM

I have read this book to my grandchildren who are 5, 3, 2 and 4 months. So the book is still out there. How cute.

quiltymom 07-02-2011 05:44 AM

Yes I do and still have from when my boys were young then granddaughter and I would read it together before bed time.

MaryAnnMc 07-02-2011 05:45 AM

Although my kids are all grown now, my brother has a wee one, and it's his boy's favorite book. Maybe I need to make him a quilt with this.

sewmuchlove 07-02-2011 06:10 AM

Yes, Yes, not only are Mothers still reading it, but Nana's and Grandmom's are usually the ones who first buy the book (or quilt) for the little ones.

lizzyq 07-02-2011 06:11 AM

Very much interested! We all love the book here.

smagruder 07-02-2011 06:30 AM

I bought two books, one for each grandbaby! Love this book.

kathyd 07-02-2011 06:30 AM

My 2 year old granddaughter loves this book. I think reading this and singing "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" are part of her bedtime routine.

I owned used bookstores for 15+ years until I got sick three years ago. Goodnight, Moon was always much in demand, purchased by grandparents and parents alike. It was also a comfort book for kids waiting for their adults to make their selections.

peacequiltingnana 07-02-2011 07:16 AM

I don't know if young mothers are still reading it, but we old grandmas sure are!

Lyncat 07-02-2011 07:21 AM

I give a selection of books, including "Goodnight Moon" to every relative who is having a baby. The start of good reading habits from "Teacher Aunt Lynnie"

Rachel111940 07-02-2011 07:30 AM

I read the book to the grandkids, and now to the great-grandsons, 4 of them.

Gatormom3 07-02-2011 07:34 AM

I, too, often give this book as a baby gift. It was my daughters favorite bedtime story!! I would love to make this quilt to give along with the book.

suzm 07-02-2011 07:36 AM

I've read it to my babies and their babies. Have read Goodnight Moon to lots of elem. kiddos also..

kinigenie 07-02-2011 07:58 AM

My step daughter and husband read that to the baby belly every night while she was pregnant....Now the baby is a year and a half...I don't know if they still read that to her...but I would love to make a quilt with the fabric!

traumaRN 07-02-2011 08:02 AM

what a wonderful shower/baby gift this would be for someone special. A quilt and copy of the book wrapped together. I would definately buy the fabrics to make one (or 2). Don't have a grandchild yet, but with 2 daughters in their 20's I'm sure I won't have to wait long!

aggiebears 07-02-2011 08:13 AM

My son is eight and I still read this to him at his request.

blhaines 07-02-2011 08:17 AM

My grandson who is 3 has this book and it read on a regular basis.

KathyKat 07-02-2011 08:20 AM

Yes!! My kids loved this book and my grandkids also. I want to make one of these for my 3yr old grandson. He loves books.

aeble 07-02-2011 08:57 AM

I worked in a book store for several years, and Goodnight Moon was a huge seller. I also have a 5 month old daughter and we already have 2 copies.

pmintpat 07-02-2011 11:14 AM

Yes. I read this book to my children several times. I would love to read it to my granddaughter and make her a quilt to go with it. Thanks for asking. Good memories.

southernmema 07-02-2011 01:07 PM

I read it to my granddaughter many many times...it wasone of her favorite books. I would make a quilt for her to put in her "hope" chest.

wraez 07-02-2011 01:12 PM

Of course, it is a classic!

judykay 07-02-2011 03:06 PM

I use to read it to my two grandsons but they are too old for a quilt of it. Although the youngest one (age 9) has already told me he wants me to make a baby quilt for when he gets married and has children. My next quilt for them will be for graduation ( I hope ).

katcox 07-02-2011 03:40 PM

My daughter got a copy 2 yrs ago at her shower. Brought back great memories.
Thanks you.

Quilting Treasures is coming out with a line of fabrics based on the book, and I was wondering if there would be much interest in it.

Here's a picture of the project that goes with this collection. They don't have instructions available yet, but they say the finished size of the quilt is 41" x 49".

It would be interesting to know if young mothers are still reading this book to their little ones?

My granddaughter LOVES this book. I will definitely make her a quilt from this collection.
Tommie

me too.

Ladyjanedoe 07-02-2011 03:48 PM

Wow!! I wish they had had that about 5 years ago. My son ADORED that book.

noveltyjunkie 07-02-2011 04:26 PM

Yes it is still a goodie!

Since everyone else is being so positive, let me enter one note of caution- the colourway in the book, while totally iconic, and not to be messed with, is not the most soothing to look at, so if I was making something with GNM fabric, I would be thinking something small...

I would not purchase the kit for the example piece you showed. I find it very angular and visually distracting.

When I read this book with my children, they love finding the mouse on every page and if I was making a quilt or hanging/pillow/rabbit cover with it, I would expect to be able to hide mice in there. Also, the passage of the moon from the lower left of the window as it rises is a key feature of the story and I would like to see that reflected as well. So potentially I would be doing a lot of fussy cutting!

I've sure lots of people would like to make it as a cloth book as well.

rnreenie 07-02-2011 04:40 PM

Yes I remember the book and as a matter of fact..Hallmark now has it out in one of those books that your can read and record for your children. I bought one in May and recorded myself reading it for my granddaughter Isabella who was born on June 24th. We live in Florida and they live in NY so Grammy is not going to be around all the time to read to her. I also took a picture of my husband and I and taped it on the inside of the cover. The quilt I made for Isabella is the one my DIL is holdingl up in my profile picture. Candy Land fabric used tomake that one. I for one would buy Goodnight Moon fabric to make a toddler quilt with.

MissJMac 07-02-2011 05:14 PM

Do I remember it???? Bought it for all my grandkids, it was in my grandson's stocking last Christmas, along with The Very Hungry Catapiller. Classics that I've read and presented to all my "babies" over the years.

quilting librarian 07-02-2011 05:16 PM

Goodnight Moon is a classic - one that ALL children should know! I love the project and hope you will post when it is available. :D

janetter 07-02-2011 05:42 PM

ditto

macygma 07-02-2011 05:50 PM

I love it! Kids and now grandkids hear it from me all the time. (They have it memoreized so I can play a little with the rhymes!)

Me too!

I don't know about the young moms, but, I'm a first grade teacher and I read it every year to my class.

BrandyMcCoy 07-02-2011 08:22 PM

Yes I loved that book and read it to my kids..who also love it! I can't wait to make one of these:)

bkayw 07-02-2011 08:43 PM

Yes, my daughter and I read it to the almost three year old and she loves it. We would have her pick out the things and say goodnight to them. She has one of those projectors that you put a disk in and it displays pictures on the ceiling and one of them shows moons and stars and she calls it her Goodnight Moon one.
