I do not sleep more than an hour or two at a stretch...I used to work nights and I'm afraid that (and kidney disease stage 4) precludes getting one of those "sleep all night" dreams; and yes, I am well past menopause. No, I don't take naps. I'm afraid if I did, I'd only sleep for fifteen minutes!

My wonderful German Shepard did the same thing. I complained about it because I felt that was the reason I couldn't sleep good. He died very unexpectedly on Oct. 2nd (massive heart attack) and I miss him so much. I would gladly give up the space to have him back. Enjoy him while you can.

Our German Shepard died 8 yrs ago and it seems like it was only 8 months ago. I would give him our (only a double) bed to have him back. Still missing him.
Enjoy him while you can.

I can't seem to sleep past 6 hrs. with getting up once to go to the restroom. Naps happen when I've had a long day at work. I think for me it started when raising a family & a full time job & my body doesn't know anything different now the kids are gone & it's just me & DH. My DH doesn't have any problem sleeping. My Dr. keeps after me to get more sleep, he saids to start adding 15 mins. to my 6. but it's not happening yet. Also, I might miss something on the QB if I sleep to long.
I know there are millions of people that get alot less, alot of them on this board and so I'm grateful for the 6hrs. I get. I'm praying for long...... pleasant dreams to all!

I can sure relate to this one. Some nights I can be exhausted and fall asleep at 10 PM but at 2:30AM I 'm for the day and feel like a zombie all day. The flip side is I don't get to sleep until 2-3AM, sleep until 6-7 AM and push myself through the day. I might add I also have chronic pain syndrome to add to being post menopausal. If I sleep from 2-8AM I feel like I can whip the world by it's tail, for about 3 hrs. LOL

Ditto! I just made 40 and have an 8 month old...who is sleeping through the night so it is not her fault. Last night I went to sleep about 10:30pm and woke up 3 times before I finally got up at 3:30...really makes you crazy! But, I sewed until 6:30 then back to sleep off and on until I got up for work at 8:00.

My 16 year old son asked me one day, "Mom, what do you think about as you drift off to sleep?" I said, "I think about what I would rather be doing (quilting)." He says with shock and awe, "What would you rather do than sleep?" Oh to be 16, sleep better than a baby, have all the time to do whatever you want and not have a care in the world. :)

Pharmaceuticals are my friend. No matter how little sleep I get at night I don't nap during the day unless I'm sick or coping with one of those wonderful migraine headaches. Seems it makes sleeping at night even harder with some zzzzzz's during the day.

I haven't been able to sleep all night long in years. I take Ambien just to be able to sleep for 5 hours. While I was moving, I forgot to pack my sleeping pills. They were in Columbus and I was an hour drive away. That day I was up for 27 hours before I finally got to my pills to take one. I was exhausted.

When I have sleepless nights, I take 2 regular advil. Hip pain is the culprit.
