Maureen, Love your Sunbonnet Sues, lots of work to do them. Am doing your red ones in colors. Want to put it together with reproduction flour sack material. Always have some type of handwork handy to grab and go. :D

I do and I love it :) right now I'm doing a piece I designed its a primitive basket with pip berries and the basket is all done with satin stitch. I would like to learn how to do crewl work. Do you use wool yarn for that? I have some great old pieces that I have picked up in thrift shops and yard sales they are just beautiful the craftsmanship is awesum. I have a few books on it but I haven't tryed it yet.

While you are looking for your squares, could you find the boxes of floss and blocks I put away in a "safe" place. They will make a bed quilt whenever I find them - maybe for the "great grandkids" That will be a few years down the road. My grandkids are under three years old. :wink: :wink:

My sister would like to do something with embroidery stitches. Not just back, cross , stem, running or satin stitch stuff.

(All she's been able to find is pillowcases at Michaels. She says "I really have no imagination, I need it spelled out.")

I have always enjoyed that particular style of needle work, so when I discovered Sashiko, it was just the next step! I ordered my stencils from Shiboridragon.com, and have been using them as accents for my plain borders on table runners or in blocks of quilts. Some of the stencils are so beautiful that I have combines several and make wall hangings.

I love to embroider and have embroidered pictures throughout our
home. I buy crewel kits at garage sales, rip out the crewel thread and do them over with regular embroidery thread.

About 5 years ago I made a quilt and have been embroidering all of my
favorite sayings on it. It may never be finished as I keep getting new
sayings, but it's my favorite quilt.

Embroidery is alive and well!!!
