Some of you may remember me coming here to tell you about our black german shephard, Serena, who at the time was having severe skin problems and a list of others. Well, we had to put her down at the end of July due to uterine cancer which came on very quickly and took her quality of life just as quickly.

Well, in September, we got a new member to the family, Winchester, who is now a 6 month old Basset Hound. I'd like to make him a bed for his crate (he is crate trained) but he chews everything up and would destroy it if I didn't make it right. What would make a good sturdy quilt for him, any ideas?

He was small then, that was a few months ago. I have a very hard time getting pictures of him because he won't sit still!!

He's so cute!! Look at his ears!! :) What a sweetie he is!! :)

I would buy a canvas paint tarp, they're pretty inexpensive at Home Depot, etc... wash and dry it they soften up nicely, and they're a nice neutral color, like oatmeal. I did that for curtains in my living room with some embelishments, people loved them. With a zipper, or velcro closure... for that matter, you could even forget the hardware, and make it like a big pillow sham, you know the two sides overlap in the back?.. if he tears it up, so what, you could make another. You can buy an insert for it, or foam, or stuff it with straw.

OMG he is too cute. We had a Dalmatian that ate everything--I could have made his quilt out of stainless steel and he'd chew it up!! The canvas paint tarp VJ suggested would work really well and would be inexpensive to replace.
Good luck-show us more pictures!!

How about (I think it is called duckcloth?) I have some of it in a neutral color I would be more than willing to send to you if you are interested. It is a very touch material when you pull on it-not sure how it would wash but...
He is adorable! And I am very sorry for the loss of Serena. It is never easy to loose a pet.
