OMG, WTF?????????? Did these happen to you??????????

Baren*eh*ked_canadian 11-04-2009 07:12 AM

lol, I vote kids, but if you're irresponsible enough to leave an open can of paint around your kids, you're asking for trouble.
I've seen the paint pic before, but that couch with the dog, wow!

No, the kids thing didn't happen. The cats were allergic, so I had to get rid of the kids. But I've had a dog who did that to my mattress!!

Esqmommy 11-04-2009 07:18 AM

BNCanadian - yes, irresponsible, but life does happen when you have kids. I don't know, but once you've spent day after day with little ones, sometimes you lose your ability to by vigilent...a quick trip to the potty, forgetting about that can in the corner...kids can do some damage fast. I'll be the mom could hear them laughing, having a good time, so she wasn't worrying about them. It's silence that's scary with kids...

HAH! Knowing kids, that paint can was completely sealed and sitting safely on a counter in the laundry room!!

Either that, or dad just had to run to the bathroom for a second. LOL. Hey Esq. would you consider it justifiable homicide? LOL

Shemjo 11-04-2009 07:22 AM

OMG!

gaigai 11-04-2009 07:22 AM

Wonder what dad said when he saw his flat screen TV? ROFLMBO

And I wonder if it was latex paint!! PMSL!!

littlehud 11-04-2009 07:33 AM

Ouch. Looking at those pictures......neither.

Oh Ninnie! I can just see Carson painting Mortimer like that in a couple of years! ROFLMBO

Mousie 11-04-2009 07:48 AM

kind of makes you wonder if you left the pets and the kids in the same room...would you have any house left?
Yeee-iiikes...run...run now, while you still can!

I can remember my son using about 6 galons of paint to paint the back of the porch...i was sitting on the front porch he was playing in the back yard. he had some on his hands jacket and sneakers...he was quite neat for 2 1/2...the mailman was going by and saw him i the gap between houses. he got a screwdriver and opened the cans. he remembers parts of it mostly that he had to throw away his baseball jacket...he really liked it

k3n 11-04-2009 09:12 AM

OMG! Did that teeny little pup do all that damage on his own?

Oh Mel - you've got so much to look forward too! Even the most responsible parents in the world don't have eyes in the back of their heads. And kids are a lot smarter than you'd give them credit for, plus they, unlike adults, have NOTHING else to think about except what trouble to get into next!

Quilt4u 11-04-2009 10:34 AM

I'm not commenting. I had and have both.

Sandy1951 11-04-2009 12:31 PM

Well, I never had my dogs do quite that much damage to a couch, but I had kids do that! Seriously, it looked much the same as the one in the picture. And they weren't even my kids!

I was babysitting for 4 or 5 preschoolers and had to answer the phone. I could still see the living room where the kids were playing, but they were just out of sight. They seemed to be having a good time though, laughing and giggling together. The couch already had some nasty tears in it, due to a puppy that we only kept for a short time (not because he ripped the couch, but because he bit me rather badly). During the short time I was on the phone, those little "angels" ripped much of the upholstering off and pulled most of the cushioning out of the couch. I walked into the living room and stood there in shock. The mother of two of them came to pick her darlings up at that point and of course thought I hadn't been watching them closely enough. I tried to explain, but it sounded lame even to me. Oh well, we needed a different couch anyway.

Mine never got into paint like that, but our son did try to build a bomb in the playhouse. His little cousin got scared and tattled on him (thankfully).

Oh yeah, and my daughter and her little friend (the older brother of two of the couch-ripping fiends) started a fire upstairs. We saw him come running down the stairs and dash out the door to go home. So we called upstairs and asked Sara if everything was okay. She said yes, rather frantically, then ran down the steps herself and into the bathroom. She got a pitcher of water and ran back up the stairs. What are you doing, Sara? Nothing, Mom! Hmmm...time to check. Ooops, more water needed. Thankfully, it was very minor.

Kids! Ya gotta love 'em, but you also have to watch them every second!

cutebuns 11-04-2009 01:07 PM

THat is so funny, we have never had a dog do that kind of damage before, a few corners have gotten it especially with the cats, The kids are another story, yup, it is amazing what they can get up to in very short order, and all it takes is a trip tot he bathroom, switching the laundry, phone call, something and before you know it, they are knee deep into it. There is very few parents out there that hasn't had something like this happen, even a diaper change on a younger sibling, it happens, my mom came into the kitchen on day from something and there we were, sitting on the table flour everywhere, mom the day before had made up playdough, and we were just making more. Or the time that she had me and my older sis in the bathroom while she put the two younger ones into their jammies, we had gotten out of the tub and when she opened the door a big cloud floated out, we had gotten in to the babypower and it was everywhere, including pasted to us as we were still wet from the tub.

kwhite 11-04-2009 03:01 PM

Oh DH's dog ate a couch down to the frame and then chewed on the frame too. DD painted with Pooh three times until the last time when I made her little two year old self sit in a chair and watch me clean the room for two hours removing the Pooh from walls and windows and curtains and furniture and carpet and..........

Yes K3n I agree our friend has quite an awakening comming. It is all in fun though.

bearisgray 11-04-2009 05:31 PM

I had great theories about how to raise kids until I had some.

kwhite 11-04-2009 06:57 PM

Aint it the truth!!!

zyxquilts 11-04-2009 07:42 PM

I choose....a cat.

Sandy1951 11-05-2009 01:50 AM

Ah, but cats have their moments, too.

Kittens at Christmas are so much fun, especially when they climb up the Christmas tree, tiptoe out to the ends of the branches, and gently bat the ornaments until they fall and break. (Unless they're quilted ornaments, of course.) And those are the nice kittens. We had some that used to play tag on the Christmas tree. I have to say we didn't have many ornaments to put away that year. :(

Another cat we had spent most of her time leaping onto the loosely woven curtains we had then, dig her nails in, then swing back and forth. She loved doing that. The curtains didn't hold up very well.

Not to mention the cat that got stuck in our kitchen wall. We were remodeling, but we still couldn't figure out how she got inside the wall. She cried and cried, so finally my DH chopped into the plaster until he got her out. What a mess. We didn't even like that cat, but no way could we leave it in the wall to die. A few days later she was under our bed when the bed broke. It was an old bed and the slats were thin and I guess they couldn't take it. Anyway, the poor cat got hit so hard in the head that she died. I guess she was just doomed, poor thing. (I think my DH felt bad; he fixed the bed up so it was nice and solid.)

Maybe a pet rock would be safest?http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-signs002.gif

marsye 11-05-2009 04:37 AM

I would get 2 of each.

quiltwoman 11-05-2009 03:09 PM

I say get one of each!

MadQuilter 11-05-2009 03:38 PM

We have a picture of my brother (when he was about 3) where he is wearing one of those paper coffee filters. Also documented is the aftermath of his forray through the kitchen cabinet where he found the flour and the molasses. I'll take dogs any day. Ar least they can be tied up. CPS tends to frown on that with kids. (Don't know why)

Me too, now I'm into grandchildren. Both my children and pets did stuff, but nothing like those pictures.

Boston1954 11-05-2009 04:31 PM

That is a tough one............dogs only last so long, but then kids grow up and move away.

And bring more. This hasn't happened to me, but it happened to my friend several times. She solved the problem by buying houses for her kids to rent.

Well.........still laughing............all I can say is.........been there and done that with the kids.........having my grands around is sooooo much easier......much easier to keep an eye on them for a few days than their parents full time LMBO..... I do get very tickled hearing about their escapades when their mommy's call me and the first thing I hear is..."Do you KNOW What your grand----- DID!!!!" I just bust out laughing....what goes around......comes around

These are funny stories, I had a dob and a cat once and they moved the recliner to the middle of the living room (right in fromt of a huge window) any way they tore it up stuffing all over the living room looked like it snowed in there. Then a couple of months later my daughter made a make shift ladder (age 1 1/2) and climbed up to get 3 packages of diapers down, (she was to be napping) and tore all three packages of diapers up in her bedroom, again looked like it snowed in that room. HUMMMMMMMMM I wonder if it was the house. It snowed alot in that house.

And sometimes when they come back they bring dogs and/or cats with them. :(

Our daughter moved back home for a short time when she was 20, which was 10 years ago. She brought her two cats with her. She moved back out. The cats are still here.

Our son moved back home for a couple of years when he was about 30, which was five years ago. He brought his dog, a Newfoundland/Great Pyrenees mix and a HUGE fish tank, complete with fish. Thankfully he took the dog when he finally moved out, but he left the fish behind until I threatened to kill them if he didn't get them. I really wouldn't have killed them, but I wanted the fish tank gone. It was much too large for our small dining room. He finally got them about a year ago. Finally!

For all young mothers and mothers to be........

Head line in Rochester NY newspaper - "Mother lets child loose on St Paul Blvd."
I was 3 1/2 and had to have a bath everynight BEFORE dinner. We lived in a neighborhood and played outside all day long - I was a tomboy. I came home for my bath - stripped to my undies and My Mom said it will be just a minute....so off I went and got Ricky and told him we should go down the street and meet our Dads at the bus stop. Off we went.... to St Paul Blvd......(me in my undies) I saw a bus coming and ran out in the street and was hit by a car.....Ricky ran home and told my mother what had happened and that I was dead! My poor mother!!! I think the car ran over me and I was tumbled underneath, but I did not make contact with the tires. Did not break anything - tons of scrapes and bruises and I had a concussion. When ever I came home for my bath after that my mother stopped what she was doing and gave it to me!! And I was never allowed to go near St. Paul Blvd again!!! And my father wasn't even on the bus I was running to meet!

If that happened today - a dirty child in undies - hit by a car because Mother wasn't watching her .... I would have been raised in a foster home.

Another time I decided to climb out my bedroom window which was on the second floor, over a driveway - I was about 2 - I took the screen off and climbed out and was hanging when the neighbor called my Mom and told her what I was doing..... I was climbing back in when my Mom arrived back upstairs!

bearisgray 11-06-2009 07:38 AM

Even when one thinks one is doing due vigilance with kids - bad stuff happens.

pojeda 11-07-2009 05:11 PM

After seeing these pictures.....I just had to show you what my adorable little puppy did to my loveseat, after I had left the house to run some errands. Mind you, I was only gone for 1.5 hours!!!!!
Koda had already torn the cushions, so I had taken them off and put them in the spare bedroom thinking that I could take them to be fixed....

At first I was in shock.....then I was laughing when I grabbed the camera! The look on his face when I came in the door!!!!! Priceless!
