You can see the mom on her nest, and over the next weeks can watch the eggs hatch, and the babies grow and fledge. It is so cool. I watched one last year and was hooked. So what is your sugar to water ratio? My mother does a 50/50 mix up in Canada. In the retirement apartment she lives in their is a competition between residents to see who can lure the most birds in. Mother has always had the most. I know the recommendation is 1 part sugar to 4 parts water. I am in East TN and I think this year I have only one little guy around. Last year I had 4 of them fighting for space. Ann in TN

I'm in Alabama and I had a few hummingbirds showing up two weeks ago, but haven't seen any since the tornado blew thru. Hope the little fellas had the sense to leave before it happened, but I hope they come back soon. Feeders all ready and waiting for them. You have many more than I've been able to attract yet. My best guestimate would be around 15 in one season.

We thought we were doing our share until I opened this site.
We have 5 feeders plus an oriole feeder. The Oriole feeds out of the hummer feeder and so do the gold finch |
These pictures are great. I don't have much luck feeding hummingbirds. I buy the stuff that is already made up an I have also made my own but they just don't seem to like it can someone tell me what I might be doing wrong?

Do you have cover for them in case a preditor is near. Putting red flowers around help too.

I have never seen an Oriole. It would be great if they would get down this way. This year the hummingbirds don't seem to be as numerous as they have been in the past. I would love to have as many as some of you do. There only seem to be 1 female and one male here now. Ann in TN
