Downton Abbey- The Movie

Omg I can't wait!! It's coming out September 20.

I absolutely loved that series. Have already watched it twice.

juliasb 09-05-2019 04:16 AM

I too am excited about the movie coming out! As far as the series I have watched it way more than twice (I humbly admit). The series is great for binge watching.

SusieQOH 09-05-2019 04:57 AM

I loved everything about the series but especially the relationships among the staff. What a series! Oh I'll be watching it again for sure, Juliasb :)

Chasing Hawk 09-05-2019 05:30 AM

I can't wait either. On anther positive note....Poldark starts it's final season on the 29th here in the States.

I haven't heard of this one. Is it on Netflix or Prime? Looked it up and it sounds good.

sprice 09-05-2019 06:05 AM

I believe Poldark is on PBS.

Doggramma 09-05-2019 09:09 AM

It took me the longest time to get on the DA train. But then I watched one show and was hooked! Then I binge watched them, some episodes multiple times. I’m looking forward to the movie, but I’ll wait until it comes on our premium channels.

SusieQOH 09-05-2019 09:58 AM

I don't go to the movies much but we're going to go for this one.

Crqltr 09-05-2019 10:20 AM

Our local library (very small town) is having a Downton Abbey English tea/ trivia night in honor of the movie.

Mkotch 09-06-2019 02:38 AM

DH wanted to go to the new Quentin Tarantino movie (violent), and I said I would go along. In exchange, he promised to go to the Downton Abbey movie. Fair is fair!

luvstoquilt 09-06-2019 04:17 AM

Going with another avid friend. We have advanced tickets for the 23rd. I can’t wait!

Snooze2978 09-06-2019 05:01 AM

I also have all the seasons of DVDs and can't wait for it to show up. I'm sure to pick up the DVD when it comes out too. Like the fact that all the regulars or at least most of them will be playing their same parts.

SusieQOH 09-06-2019 12:14 PM

I bought the DVD's as well. I just had to own that series!

magpie 09-06-2019 01:12 PM

NBC has a program the 19th, hosted by Dereck Hough ftom dancing with the stars, etc.

PBS check your local PBS channel.

quiltingshorttimer 09-06-2019 05:08 PM

I can't wait either! We didn't start watching DA until I had my first knee replacement and DH got the DVD's and we binged watched and were totally hooked.

cashs_mom 09-06-2019 06:03 PM

I love Downton Abbey, too. I'll probably be watching the movie.

Poldark is on my local PBS station

Robin Ellis played the part of Poldark in the first 1975. production he was the judge in this latest version, I have Poldark on DVD with the 1975, think I will get this new one too. I have all DA and as soon as the movie comes out on DVD you can bet I will be ordering my copy, I binge watch it at least once a year, some times more. Have to see Ballykissangle and Monarch of the glen every year too just too good not to watch them again and again.

Snooze2978 09-07-2019 05:53 AM

Chasing Hawk, I have all the Poldark seasons on DVD too including the original one from back in the 70's. My sister likes that one best. Been trying to collect the books for Poldark but that's been more iffy than I want to explain. But good to know about Poldark, will have to start checking it on the TV guide but think I have my Tivo set to record any new ones anyway.

Mariposa 09-07-2019 06:59 AM

I'm looking forward to seeing the movie! We have all the DVD's, and binge watch them a few times a year. :)

charley26 09-07-2019 11:31 AM

Going to see it at the cinema next Wednesday!

Moira in N.E. England 09-10-2019 03:51 AM

I must be unique as I am not a Downton Abbey fan. I watched the first episode but put it off about half way through, even though I like many of the actors in it. I don’t watch Poldark either because I missed the first series and just couldn’t pick the story up when the second series started.
I do like ‘Call the Midwife’ though, especially as the events happen in my lifetime.

It’s good to know that so many of you enjoy UK TV!

quiltingshorttimer 09-10-2019 07:47 PM

we love Call the Midwife at our house too--have watched all seasons!

tohkatz68 09-11-2019 02:23 AM

We have tickets to an advance showing of Downton Abbey tomorrow evening, can't wait. Also a huge fan of "Call the Midwife".

Betty J 09-11-2019 03:21 AM

I too am very much a Downton Abbey and Poldark fan. I have the DVD's of both and the current season is now on our ABC TV here. I am currently reading the Poldark series, I am on book 4, 8 to go. I will keep an eye out for the Downton Abbey movie.

SusieQOH 09-12-2019 03:29 AM

My sister told me that Poldark is on Prime. That will probably be my next binge :)

tohkatz68 09-13-2019 06:28 AM

Saw Downton last night at an advanced showing at our local cinema. Excellent, excellent, Maggie Smith was sharp as always. A do not miss if you're a fan.

I have been reading the Poldark novels also. I am on book 10 with 2 left to go.

tranum 09-15-2019 03:14 PM

Downtown Abbey fans ....

Not watched any of it, but it’s on “my bucket list”.

I see there is a Downtown Abbey film coming to theaters in a few days.
Is this the TV one all rolled into one film or is it a continuation of the TV series ?
I want to see it in the proper order.

noahscats7 09-15-2019 03:37 PM

No, it's a continuation from where the tv series left off but is written by the same person. The tv series is fabulous!!!

thanks, then I’ll refrain from going until I can see the 1st part

SusieQOH 09-16-2019 05:11 AM

tranum, it's a fantastic series but I believe the movie is a continuation of the series.

charley26 09-18-2019 01:02 PM

Well, that is 2+ hours of my life I won't get back, a totally sugar coated confection of nonsense. I should have listened to the critics, but my sister wanted to see it - she did enjoy it.

too funny. If you go in with the attitude that it is fiction but pretty fiction, and not an accurate representation, then to me, it is a fine way to pass time. I really enjoyed the series, clothes, locations, some of the story lines, etc. but I like to have an easy diversion.

Betty J 09-18-2019 09:36 PM

I too am reading the Poldark novels, I am on book 4 so I still have a way to go. I have the whole Downton Abbey series on DVD and I have just ordered the movie. Looking forward to seeing it very much.

Stitchnripper 09-20-2019 01:36 PM

I saw the Downton Abbey movie today. Thoroughly enjoyed. Nice seeing all the regulars, and yes, some silliness in the middle, tears at the end, but, pretty, and very satisfying.

Chasing Hawk 09-20-2019 04:16 PM

My husband asked if I wanted to go see the Downton Abbey movie. I told him I will wait until it comes out on on of our steaming channels of PPV. So I said take me to another "Chick flick" soon, he agreed so we are going to go see "Rambo: the Last Blood". Oh, how I love a good action flick, sorry I meant chick flick :)

SusieQOH 09-21-2019 04:05 AM

My husband and I went to see it last night and loved it. The only problem was because it was only 2 hours the characters didn't get much time as they did on the series. How I've missed them!! :) Can't wait to watch the series again.

nativetexan 09-21-2019 09:09 AM

Oh my friend in England just saw the movie or is about to. Wish I could. Will have to wait for it to be available online somehow.
