I have an LG washer and dryer set. I've been using them for the past 8 years and are both still going strong!

Before that, I had GE. They dryer took quite a while to dry a load and the washer was really noisy.

Thanks, all, for your input. We went shopping and I am quite partial to the Whirlpool in looks, simplicity, and price. Our dryer had a "good day" yesterday and actually dried a load normally. But I think it was a fluke. We'll get by with hanging things up or using my dad's machine tomorrow.

We have an Amana electric dryer. Works great. Purchased this about 3-4 years ago (I think) and it's going strong. It replaced a 20+ yr Kenmore brand. Purchased the new one from our local appliance store who will price match with the big box stores. Different settings/choices for drying. Would definitely recommend.

I hate to do this but my conscience won't let me pass on by.
Amana was bought out from Maytag and is now on the low rung of the ladder.
We bought both washer and dryer and the washer didn't last three years.
Although we do still have the dryer it not only makes noise and takes longer
than I think it should, but it has been repaired a few times already.
I will not be purchasing this brand again.

I replaced my old Whirlpool with a Kenmore a couple years ago. I really like it. It's huge and has a removable rack for drying sweaters, bras, tennis shoes and the steam refresh. The rack is one of the things I really wanted when I bought a new one. They are so handy for drying anything you don't want to tumble.
