And to think when my boys were little they use to catch garter snakes and bring them in our house. But not that many.

Actually if you were to hold a snake they are dry and the way they move can be soothing we are taught that they are icky but they really arn't. My husband says I'm a little kookie but in a good way. I think snakes are cool.

I agree. They do not prey on people, except maybe very rarely, some of the immense constrictors in the tropics, so unless you carelessly threaten one by sitting on it, cornering it or stepping on it, even a venomous snake is not much of a threat. You are far more likely to be hurt or killed by a car, and you don't go "EEeeeek!" every time you see a car! Snakes are our friends in that they eat some of the worst vermin. Besides that, many of them are quite beautiful, once you put aside some silly prejudice that you learned as a child. The scales often look like quilt patterns!
