I have had a Viking Rose for several years. I embroidery for a while and quilt for a while and just sew things for a while. but I do enjoy embroidery for my granddaughters jeans and T-shirts.

I don't have one, I want one, BUT I want a not too expensive one, because at least to start with I only want to make quilt labels! I've looked at the Brother, but not sure it will do what I want on the scale I want. Can't wait to read all these posts to make mental notes!! Thanks for this thread!!

I have a Baby Lock Ellure plus. With all the little extras i spent $1600 I love it. I rarley attach the embroidery arm. I just don't have anything I want to embroider! Plus you have to invest in the thread, Between a fabric stash and a thread stash, I would rather put my money in the fabric stash. The thread just really adds up. $5-$8 a spool.

I am no spring chicken and 3 months ago bought my first Viking SE -- love it and make things all the time! Jump on in the pool and you will be swimming in monogramming and embroidering soon.

i don't have one, but i want one. i can think of so many things to do with one. i'm hoping maybe when i get my taxes, if i get any.

i have the brother innovis 4000 D love it

I have two embroidery machines, a Viking desinger 1 and a Brother innovis4500 I love them both and I bought both of my machines on ebay.My Viking only had 39 hours on it and I gave $2200.00 for it. I bought the Brother for $3300.00 and it is a wonderful machine,self threading, and has so many fancy stitches built in. I've had my viking for about 5 years and my Brother for 2. I use them all the time. In Fact the Quilt featured on the left is one I embroidered the blocks for. I am 78 years young and all I can say is treat yourself to the machine you want and then use it like it was going to be the last chance you would have at doing what you want to do.

You dont need a $10,000 sewing/embroidery machine to do nice work.. I have a Husqvarna designer1 embroidery/sewing machine & new home embroidery /sewing machine. I got them both on sale & it paid for themselves in the first year. I make & sell different thing, Only been quilting since 2006 I have sold some quilts. Go to your sewing store & tell them what you are looking to do . I sew almost everyday during the colder months not so much during the spring & summer.

Well Char I have that 830 and love it and only a few years younger then you! If this is your first embr machine, make sure you have a good dealer and ask lots of questions and take all the learner classes! Yes it is a pricey machine but emb. beautiful and it has a Jumbo hoop to do jacket back and more!

I have a Brother Innov-in 1250D which I paid about $1,800 and I love it. I am now looking at one which uses bigger hoops.
