I've heard they have emergency brakes but I'm sorry you had to find out first hand! Just think of all the exercise you'll get taking the stairs ...

Yeah, people would have looked at me too - on account of the wet spot on my pants. Oh how scary. Glad you're OK.

Wow! That is some way to jump start your day Leona! Holy Cannolis! Glad that it was a soft landing for you...oh, and have FUN at JoAnn's tonight!

Skeat 05-15-2009 12:23 PM

(My only thoughts were, I hope this is a soft landing, and that the elevator doors open when it does stop. I sure didn't want to be stuck in the elevator!! ) *I would have prob been caught jumping in the mid air as not to feel the impact, or I would think:)LOL Then the doors would open w/me in mid air...

( And when my boyfriend makes fun of me for stopping at the fabric store AGAIN!! I can say, but I had a scary experience and needed something to make me feel better  He of course will say Yeah Right, and then laugh.) *Now you can explain the extra fabric that comes today and for many more days and years is now you just might have another almost emergency and might need cushion!LOL Skeat

Wheeee! Sounds like the Tower of Terror ride at MGM Studios. I HATE that ride! LOL!

Oh, you poor thing! You are describing my worst nightmare, I ride the elevator every day at work and am always listening for creaks or odd sounds. Were you able to get back onto the elevator the next day? I don't think I would be able to do that, I feel so bad for you.

The elevators were closed down for a bit, and I sure wasn't going to climb 19 flights of stairs in my high heel shoes. So I grabbed some Starbucks and waited. Then I took the elevator. It was kinda hard to get on the elevator, but I don't have much of a choice if I want to get to work

OMG! Elevators and bridges are my phobia. Thank goodness you are okay. and you got back on that horse, so to speak. Someone told me if an elevator falls, jump up and down and you have a 50/50 chance of being okay when it lands? I never believed that but...... I worked on the 39th floor of the IDS tower in Minneapolis, and was stressed by the time I got to work. When that bridge fell down in Mpls it took me a while to go see my relatives. I'm glad you're okay.

Actually Myth Busters busted the "jump" theory. Sorry. I would never have gotten back on the elevator. They are my phobia too. I got stuck in one once and my boss laughed at me. I was freaking out. That is just one reason he was a jerk. There were plenty more. I am glad you are ok.
