I was making a puzzle for an upcoming event and I'm finding that some people can see it and other can not. I'm hoping to find out what percentage can solve the puzzle. It works best if you print out the puzzle on paper so that you can play around with it.

something sort of looks like
O H T in the top row

That's all I can "sort of" see besides diagonal lines.

MIJul 08-23-2011 11:50 AM

Are there supposed to be words? I've been trying and can't find them.

alikat110 08-23-2011 11:53 AM

I can make out some letters, but not all, therefore can't understand nescafe

ajonkarl 08-23-2011 11:56 AM

I don't see anything but a neat jelly roll quilt pattern~!!!

DeeBooper 08-23-2011 11:57 AM

Nope...can't figure it out.

scrapngmom 08-23-2011 12:01 PM

I tried printing it out but it is too big and I only get half the puzzle on the page. Sorry, I really want to know what this puzzle is about. Can't see anything but lines

Patty Patches 08-23-2011 12:05 PM

not me makes my eyes cross.lol

Gennynut 08-23-2011 12:06 PM

I can make out a few letters but that is it.

Quiltzilla 08-23-2011 12:11 PM

I'll keep the group guessing until somebody posts the answer.

The message is written backwards but still can't read much of it. Think the 1st word is "The" , I think I see the word "is" and last word ends in ous and has a period. Still working on it.

DogHouseMom 08-23-2011 12:42 PM

The answer is obvious.

Printing it out and holding it in front of a mirror would help.

Here is the answer for those that would like to see it.

Highlighted to show the answer.

Perhaps 5 minutes.

Funny story though. I'm at work right now. I took it out for a smoke break and one of the Engineers was there with me. I gave him his own copy to play with. Smoke break was quickly interrupted by pouring rain!!! When I came in I sat down and immediately it hit me that I needed it in the mirror (the clue was I knew the 2nd two letters of the top line were H and T - and no words end in H & T ... but backwards .... ).

So I walked over to the ladies room which took me past the Engineers desk so I told him "we need a mirror". He followed me ... TO the ladies room!! I had to scoot him out and tell him "Go find your own mirror!!". He was just blindly following me!!

nena 08-23-2011 01:37 PM

Ok just got it , got back on and others have it .

I enjoyed your story immensely. Too funny! Thanks for your comments. They helped me in understanding the solving process.

Even though I've read what the answer is I can't see anything. But the zig zags remind me of what I see when I'm having a migraine. I had to stop looking at it...lol.

It took me about a minute to get the top two lines, and then struggled for a few more minutes with the last line. I had to "hide" the top two lines with my hand to get it.

I hope that wasn't cheating LOL

craftybear 08-23-2011 03:04 PM

wow, that is cool, thanks for sharing

jljack 08-23-2011 03:26 PM

I can't see it at all.

wolfkitty 08-23-2011 03:53 PM

I got as far as 'the answer is'.

MISHNJIM 08-23-2011 03:57 PM

I thought it was a picture of a boat....LOL

amandasgramma 08-23-2011 04:09 PM

Okay -- I had to read to get the answer....BUT did anyone notice that the sentence at the top is wrong???

It says: Reflect on this puzzle and tell me THE WHAT answer is.

should read: Reflect on this puzzle and tell me WHAT THE answer is.

:) :)

Good observation!

QuiltingGrannie 08-23-2011 04:20 PM

My DH got most of it before I did and I guessed at it for the rest. Then I read more of the posts and found that others had the answer already!

You create these?????? WOW!

I did, but I didn't say anything...

MelodyWB 08-23-2011 04:26 PM

That was fun !! I got it when I took off my glasses..lol..!!

mommamac 08-23-2011 04:28 PM

figured out it was a mirror image and got as far as 'the answer is...'

I wonder if someone that is dyslexic would 'see' it right away?

MISHNJIM 08-23-2011 04:34 PM

I showed this to my DH & DD and they couldn't figure it out either. Then I told DD to go to the 2nd page and look and she ran to her bedroom to read it...And still got it wrong....LOL

niizh 08-23-2011 05:03 PM

Did you design it yourself. Great idea. I started looking and was able to get a few letters. After my eyes crossed and started rolling around thought I should stop. lol

Quiltzilla 08-23-2011 06:27 PM

Yep. The spouse and I put together puzzle events. We're always working on the next one. This puzzle was being debated. Its content would be more theme related, but the 'style' of the puzzle would be the same. The puzzle hunt we're working on this week is themed around the seven ancient wonders of the world.

BellaBoo 08-23-2011 07:14 PM

I don't understand ...tell me the what answer... what is a what answer?

Oh, I should have read all the posts. That really threw me, I thought it was part of the puzzle.

Yep...me, too. I get optical migraines and this is exactly what they look like...except that they flash more than these lines did.

Nope. My dyslexic DD just looked at it, no luck. Took to the mirror and got THE right!

Me....I now have a headache. :(
