Fabric District in LA

Hi,

Has anyone gone to the fabric district in LA. I think it's part of the garment district. My DQF wants us to go next week. I'm a little hesitant...

I always go there when I visit my sister in San Diego. We leave San Diego at 8:00. There is a particular parking garage that she always uses. The people are nice and always take good care of the car. There is a restroom. We always take tp! The alley has blaring music. We usually walk through it to get to the fabric part. They really have some good deals, especially "Lucky Lady", where the fabric is 2$ per yard. I bought satin for this price for flower girl's dresses. They really turned out nice! If you are shopping for Bridal fabric they really have a great selection! Get out by 3:00 to avoid the traffic!

I made it my business to check out the garment district, and was very upset with the parking.. I went to one store that had two sections across the street from each other. I was a thrift store of the other.. I got decent thread for .50 huge spool. I don't think I would go again.. I don't think it was worth my time..

It's called the fashion district and has a web site with maps and it can be highlighted for fabric. We went last fall. Some is home dec. What I saw was a lot of glamorous fabric. The prices were great, be sure to dicker. They also had embelishments with great prices. It isn't like going to a mall. The parking is in lots that charge. If you like hunting, it's loads of fun. YES-either leave by 3:00pm or plan to stay after 7:00PM, LA downtown traffic is horrible at rush hour, even on Sunday.

Anyone know of quilting fabric in fashion district?

I used to go all the time when I lived in So Cal. I was not a quilter back then, so I don't remember what there was in the way of cottons. I do remember one place that was HUGE and had some of everythng. I definitely recommend Berger Beads. I could spend hours in there. Even if you are not into beads, it is worth a look. It is on 8th.
Have fun!
