Does anyone NOT have a Facebook like me?
Now everyone assumes I have one and are shocked when I tell them I don't. (and don't want one either) Nancy |
Don't have it. Don't want it.
I am on Facebook, it is where my kids and grandchildren are so it is easy to keep in contact, we are in three different states.
Well, I'm addicted!
I have a 20, 18 and 16 year old.....so if I'm gonna be part of their lives I had to get FB. lol They don't even email anymore. Messaging them privately is the way to reach them. (that and texting which I know do as well...even upgraded my phone so it'd be easier on me LOL) |
I have one because I "friended" a niece who asked me to join.
I'm not any too sure about it now because suddenly strangers keep popping up. Finally discovered that one man was an Illinois Step-GD's boy friend. Another lady showed up, she was a letter writer from another forum and I'd never met her, but it gave her name and picture. I'm not at all happy about all these people having access to my email address book, and don't quite know how to get out of it. I'll have to ask my son or one of the teens in the family~~ |
Thank goodness, I thought I was the only one without facebook
I don't do Facebook.
I don't have face book either.
I am on facebook. I rarely write, I just read. It is the only way to keep up with extended family. They stopped e-mailing and started Facebook. I only excess thru my computer not phone.

I have mine set so that people can find me but they can't see much (or so it should be) - just enough to figure out that it's me. I did that because I've actually reconnected with several high school classmates after 25 years - that has been kind of a cool aspect of it. I do get friends of friends requesting friendship and I basically check out their page or see if we have more friends in common (being a Navy wife this actually happens a lot to me) I do not "friend" anyone I do not know or that I do not have mutual friends with unless I do actually know them in real life. I am actually in touch with and "chat" with family I haven't talked to in years - cousins and extended family. It really is nice to be able to reconnect with so many friends from over the years and family that live in other parts of the country (and world!) the games are extremely addicting. One of my 2011 "goals" is going to be to cut back on my FB and computer time in general. Keeping my fingers crossed on that one. ;-) |
I had it because of my son, it soon became annoying to me, I cancelled it.
I have a facebook account but seldom use it. My youngest DD and her boyfriend use it quite often. I have many co-workers who are on it several times daily.
I don't have a facebook account. I'd like to see some of the pics of nieces and nephews and grandson, but I'm a bit of a dinosaur. I don't like putting info out there too much. My life bores me, so I don't think boring everyone I know would be very much fun for them! My DIL says she'll get me into the 21st century yet, but I'm fighting it tooth and nail...while I still have a couple of teeth left.
I have it, read but do not post much. I find it hard to navigate around the site and do what I want.
I dont. I am on dial up, so I would have to go some where else to do any pictures, ect. I do look at BFs to see what all the kids are up to
dont have one either
Wow, I thought I was the only one that doesn't have FB. My 25 yr. old daughter has tried to convince me that I was. lol
I do understand wanting to keep in touch with children, especially out of state. It is a great way of communication. Hey all, thanks for the responses so far. You are all wonderful! |
Don't have it and don't want it. My family and friends are all on it but I do not want any part of it. It gets way to personal for me. To much information given and that sometimes causes trouble.
DH is on facebook, but not me. I have enough trouble just figuring out message boards!
IMO, Facebook access is almost out of control. No way I would feel comfortable putting anything on it. Besides that, the company has the legal right to resell any particular information or 'repackaged' information that anyone posts. The convenience isn't worth it to me. As anything else, I would advise reading the privacy statement in detail, then decide if it's worth the exposure of your life.
I'm on it. Not only am I in contact MORE with our children and grandchildren, but I've connected with friends from WAY back (one I hadn't seen for 42 yrs!!!). I LOVE it!
I signed up because I registered for Lands end drawing. Hoping to win - But I never use it.
i got in it and right back out. if you're not in there every minute, you are ignored. now my best email friend just sent me an invite! her son got her in. sigh!!
I don't!
I have it because it's easier and faster than email, and most of my friends/family use it. I do have privacy settings and I don't put any personal information on there. There are many warnings online regarding the do's and don'ts of FB use and I try to follow those.
No Facebook, no My Space, and no Twitter! This board is where my interests lie!
I have FB.......But I use the "Friends Only" and then I am VERY selective in whom I will "friend". I make comments occassionally and I don't use my married or maiden name. To me, that is just being safer. Never comment on when we are going to be gone, and what little extra's we might have in our house. AND I never let on when my husband is on the road and I am home alone. You just never know. I have had my identity stolen 2x's about 6 years ago (before FB), so I am just alittle extra cautious.
But I do enjoy it. Get to keep track of my grandbabies and how they grow when you are not looking. |
My son set me up on a Facebook account but to tell you the truth, I just don't remember to look at it. I really don't want to be "found" by people I lost touch with. If I did, I wouldn't have lost touch with them in the first place!! Every once in a while I go see what my kids and grandkids are up to but other than that I might as well not be on Facebook
To be honest I used to love Facebook but I stumbled on this site and now all my friends must think I fell off the face of the earth! lol
It's really a nice way to keep in touch though. |
I'm addicted to the games on Facebook....
stay in touch with alot of ppl I had lost touch with, childhood friends and such.... just have to use some common sense and keep tabs on those privacy settings.... |
I had Facebook for a while, but it didn't make any sense to me, since most of the people I know don't have it either. I cancelled it and must say don't miss it at all.

That's one trouble with Facebook - if you decide to "cancel" it, it retains your full accounts of any information you had posted. IOW, your information is not deleted from all servers.
I love Facebook. I can get pictures from my DIL and DGDIL of my grandbabies. I have reconnected with family members I never see anymore. I love being able to talk to a childhood friend who is in the Phillipines as a missionary and I haven't see in 40 years!! I enjoy being apart of a group of friends that I can talk to anytime I want to. Some are family and some are quilting friends or school friends. It is a good thing in my life. I am my DHs care giver 24/7 so it is a way to keep in touch. We don't leave home much.

Note to teens and young people. Many employers are now doing a Facebook background check - which gives them information about your friends, activities, interests, where you've lived, and your political views (should you have one) etc. I've also heard of mortgage lenders doing the same thing. Just saying - beware what you say and what you do.
I love Facebook! Earlier tonight we were having a real windy rainy storm and a neighbor's trash can blew over into my yard. I said something about it on Facebook and he was outside picking it up within a few minutes. I didn't have to call him or email him... he just knew LOL
Don't have one - don't want one. I prefer personal contact if I want someone to know something about me.

I have a fb account- to keep up with my kids mainly. I post often- if I don't I get messages from my "followers"- my friends who read my posts because I do my best to put something positive there. I use it as a motivator for others.
I have my settings set to friends only and friend only people I know. Just remember- whatever is on the internet doesn't die and is public domain. So be careful! |
