I am only on Facebook to get a picture of my GreatGranddaughters every so often. also to keep up with a few more.

Well I already have it set so NO ONE sees my activity on FB, so they won't make any money off me. I don't care to have everyone know when I "like" a business or whatever. I mostly lurk.

From the story on the link you would only have to pay if you want your post to have priority. They aren't making enoough on advertisers so this is a way to send you post to the top. So essentially the companies will priority their posts and the unpaid friends will be the posts at the bottom unless they pay too.
It reminds me of the postal situation. Businesses send out high volume of mail so they get discounts because they bring them in zip code order. A person mailing one little envelope pays full price because it has to be scanned. And our mail box is full of offers we didn't even request and a catalogue from every one we ever submitted an order to. Some catalog companies send me their catalog every 2 or 3 weeks, with not that much new if anything new. However, if Facebook starts charging even a penny a post, or a fee to move your post so it can be seen above a billion company posts I will be dropping it. How can a company with their income not be making money? |

If you read down some it says that Facebook will never charge its members. I know "never say never" but this seems like a hoax that comes and goes. |
If facebook comes a knockin', I'm gonna be a droppin'.

Actually it is true but read how it works. It is your choice. http://www.businessinsider.com/faceb...s-2012-10?op=1

I wouldn't pay, but then I seldom post anything. I have posted one comment this year on my site, no pictures. I have it just so I can be friends and check in to see my kid's sites because that's where they put their pictures. No wonder the US Mail is going out of business - nothing is private, everything is on facebook for the skilled hacker to look at. Now I'll get off my soap box and back into this century. LOL

I would not pay fees to belong or get updates - its convenient to keep in touch with my kids and friends but its not an absolute with me.

Frankly my dear, I would not believe anything on Fox (faux) news
LOL....and hugs all around |
I'm on facebook all the time. I joined about 3 years ago, and I play games on it and I post pictures and I keep my out of state family up to date with what's going on and I've met my neighbors and have found my friends from High School. I remember years and years ago joining Classmates and found a few people from school but then they started charging and oh, where are they now?!
On the other hand, I lived a full life before Facebook and I reckon I'd be just fine if it went away. I don't pay for any of the services I use on the internet and I won't make an exception for something as silly as having my post on top of someone else's newsfeed! And if one of my friends was doing that on a regular basis, I think I would end up changing their settings or ignoring them altogether! |
