Facebook is worse than a peeping Tom
 

I found this really creepy, I don't even have an account. Although I do sometimes click a link that takes me to a Facebook page I leave immediately, Facebook isn't appealing to me at all.

That Is creepy! I remember why I don't have a FB account, but geez, they can even track you if don't. That's pretty invasive but I guess if you grease the right palms everyone looks the other way.

If you read the whole article, they are keeping track of what you do on Facebook, not on the whole web. But rest assured, every website you visit uses cookies to track you. And remember, when something on the internet is free, You are the product that is being sold.

I really dislike social media...for many reasons. One in particular...I treat children in therapy who are so socially retarded due to social media fixation. They literally have no idea how to converse and interact socially. So sad. Plus, I prefer just picking up the phone or writing a letter. Old-fashioned letter writing has gone by the wayside. The other day, as I was sorting a trunk in preparation of moving this year, I discovered hand-written letters from grandparents and from my father written so long ago. These are precious! The things people post on social media are forgotten within an hour.

Facebook is not alone. So does your internet provider.

The Daily Mail isn't a reliable source it is the Brittian's equivalent to our National Enquirer.

Sadly, in this case the Mail is probably pretty accurate. There have been problems like this before with Fakebook.

Try Amazon for this 'problem'. Sometime ago someone on this board referenced head lamps that had magnifiers. She said it was a helpful device for her quilting and added a link to Amazon. I clicked the link and looked at the device. The very next day ads for that device and similar ones popped up on my Kindle Fire every time I opened it. Coincidence? Don't think so! I am not sure what I think of all this intrusion; I don't like it, but, shopping the old fashioned was has become increasingly difficult.

I agree Teen. It has ruined their spelling too! I still love a letter and a phone call..texting isn't my favorite thing. I want to hear that voice!

This happens to me all the time too, no matter what I was looking at on Amazon.

In the Mail article it mentions FB can tell if a user is planning to move, etc. I don't have FB. But the other week I was on the Penseke moving website, just browsing at what options of rental trucks they have for moving. For at least a week I got Penseke moving ads. Its not just FB. Everyone does it.
