Pat Conroy! Just love his characters and descriptions. I've read everything he has written multiple times and look forward to reading through them again in the future! Francine Rivers is one of my favorite Christian writers, also. I'll stop at two since you only asked for one and I could get really carried away on this topic. :)

I have sooo many. I too have the Bennie Harper books, I like Janet Evanovich, mystery/ thrillers- dean koontz, Lisa Jackson, ECt. Just started reading Joanne fluke they r light hearted food mysteries. She owns a cookie Shop, it includes all the recipes!! Can't wait for holidays to make them! Also like Debbie macomer and womans murder club by James Patterson! I read almost anything! Don't care for most harlequins or westerns.
I go to paperbackswap.com to get a lot of books. U trade or get credits that cost 3.25 a book!!!!!

Anything by Nora Roberts especially writing as JD Robb, I just finished New York to Dallas (her latest) and now I'm reading Catherine Coulter's Split Second. Jonathan & Faye Kellerman, John Sandford, Lisa Jackson, Iris Johansen's Eve Duncan series, Dick Francis and on and on. I've even read all of Louis L'Amour's books.

For older reads, Mark Twain, for newer reads, it is John Grisham. Love all his books.

Right now my favorite is Emilie Richards. She writes about a place in the Shenandoah Valley and features a quilt in each book. I like Debbie MacComber very much too.

I read alot and I have to say the BEST book ever is Karen Kingsbury's "One Tuesday Morning" It is not based on a true story about the 9/11 twin towers, but its a story that takes place in that setting. Love that book :)

Luanne Rice -- have read all her books started with "Follow the Stars Home" and of course Mary Higgins Clark, Lillian Jackson Braun, Sue Grafton. This week I am reading Jennifer Chiaverini's "The Winding Ways Quilts"...I read one or two books a weeks and find that I enjoy searching the library for books....my authors choices are as varied as my quilts. :-D
