I don't watch any of the " real life" programs.....and the wind down of some of what were my favs for summer veiwing, like Major Crimes and Rizzoli and Isles, were a bit disappointing....I am hoping the fall will bring some new, somewhat intelligent programs/series.......really hate the canned laughter in sit/cons......wonder if Last Man Standing, is returning. Thank goodness for PBS and English dramas!!!!!

Geri, I HATE canned laughter. My husband doesn't mind, or even doesn't notice. Two Broke Girls has it after every line. And they shout their lines too, which is very annoying. Do they think we re stupid and don't know when to laugh, or do they think their show is so bad, they tell us to laugh. Either way, it's annoying!

I agree with most of your fav movies. Although I'm still a sucker for coming of age movies; Shag, Grease, Sixteen Candles, most 80's movies with the same theme...Can't Buy Me Love and any John Cusak 80's movies! Loved The Green Mile, The Sound of Music, Mary Poppins, Most Disney movies. When I was studying my catechism, the Monsignor kept referencing characters from the Sound of Music. After weeks of him doing so, I had to confess that I had no clue who he was talking about. He lent his copy of the movie to me. I watched it over and over with my girls. I purposefully forgot to bring it back a few times. Finally when I did, he gave it to me! I was touched and have enjoyed it many times over since the late 90's.

Little House on the Prairie is quite different than Carnival! Wow!!! I like both as well, for different reasons...

I've also enjoyed many different books. One that I can't get out of my mind is House of the Scorpion. It's an easy read, but deals with many different issues. Will I be the only one admitting I like 50 Shades of Gray?

I jumped on the band wagon, which i never do about Fifty Shades of Grey. WHat a boring book. I wasted all that time.

i never did read 50 shades....Maybe one day.....

Two Broke Girls ..... To me, is one of the dumbest, most badly acted sitcom(I use that term loosely here) I have ever watched (twice)....that's all I could endure......and one just as bad is the new Odd Couple......it seems all "comedy" is sex based......JMHO

Many of the oldies already mentioned are wonderful. I want to add: John Wayne & Maureen O'Hara in McLintock and The Quiet Man. LOVE John Wayne movies. Flashdance and Dirty Dancing. Those were great dance movies and who didn't love Patrick Swayze.

TV - I don't watch much. I like the crime shows and mysteries. So Criminal Minds and NCIS.

Books - Love Nora Roberts books and her J.D. Robb series. Also like Patricia Cornwell, Tess Geritsen and Iris Johannsen Don't think I have a FAVORITE book. I just love books and I don't get to read enough.

We don't have TV but were on vacation this week and discovered Castle, whatever channel it was on was showing a marathon. LIKE :)

There are many shows like this I think, an outsider (can anyone say Miss Marple?) is brought in to help the police, the plot device being an outsider can say and do things the police are not allowed to say or do.

Loved Castle.

Florence Foster Jenkins Meryl Streep's new film was worth seeing ,it was both funny and sad and the performances were good

I'm a huge sci-fi fan, so ...

Star Trek (any/all)
Firefly / Serenity
The Matrix
Eureka (TV series)
Merlin (TV series)
Flight of the Navigator (older, but really cute)

Others:
Phantom of the Opera (the one with Gerard Butler - yowsa!)
Lord of the Rings Trilogy (didn't care for The Hobbit, though)
Grease (all, including the live one)
Shrek (the first one)
Cars (cute movie!)
Home (another cute one!)

I also like shows where people live in alternative homes, such as tiny houses, buses, campers, churches, old schoolhouses, etc. ... and shows like Fixer Upper where they remodel old/rundown houses. My handy DH doesn't like me watching those, because I get IDEAS! :D
