Blossom - Thank you for the tips on growing these plants. I see you live in Hawaii where you can grow them outside. When I lived in Florida some of my neighbors had them in various colors and I admired them. Maybe I can nurture these to bloom again indoors.

Beautiful!! I have that one outside my sewing room. Yes, they only bloom once, then die, but they put out a new pup. I buy them on the clearance rack at Home Depot when the bloom dies. Nobody wants them, but I know what to expect, so they are a bargain.

The bromeliads need lots and lots of sun. The old plant will only bloom one time but the new babies are the next to bloom but ony once. I was instructed to keep the center of the plants full of water and use regular plant food. I feed mine when feeding my african violets. They are so beautiful and the bloom on mine last's a long time. I keep mine in the house in an east window in the winter but put it outside when the weather warms up.

Isn't nature wonderful. The colours are just right for a quilt. Well done for your achievement. I was given a Vanda Orchid by daughter at her wedding and it has bloomed several times. It's such a joy to when it happens and evocks fond thoughts of the person who gifted it to you. My grandson calls them Nan'a Awkwards :lol:
