not bad! that wont wash well. just saying. and if you are going to jump into the garment sewing pool-jackets are not the easiest of projects! so good on you! Simplicity has very do-able patterns also. and JoAnns has them on sale several times a year 5 for 5 bucks! usually when the seasons change. like now. good luck and enjoy your new hobby

I know it won't wash well at all as I washed a scrap piece and it shrunk and looked awful. Looked on line and saw beautiful felted wool selling for $60-75 a yard. Out of my price range for a newbie. What type of fabric would you suggest i use instead of felted wool especially when there is no hem or turn over edges to this jacket? I will definetly look at some of the Simplicity patterns. Thanks

You did a great job!! Love the design. And, I just noticed on some clothing sites that this style jacket is going to be "in" for the Fall so you are ahead of the design curve!

I've sewn all my life and I still hesitate at some of the patterns! LOL

It's Nancy Zieman - your device probably autocorrected! :)

Depending on the yardage needed, I would see if I could find a long wool coat or two at the thrift store and felt them. I would make sure that the pattern is for non stretch fabric and if so, I definitely WOULD NOT make it out of fleece. If you want to make something out of fleece, I suggest you get a pattern that is suited for stretchy fabrics.
