Just the other day DH made a comment about a rat scurrying across his office floor. Looked kind of big then he caught one the next day. He said the fur was really thick on that thing. He took it outside and let nature take it's course. The last time that happened it was a sign of a long winter for South Texas. Also doesn't help his office backs up to a field.

I would love a cold day or two. It's still hot and very humid in Florida.

We visited the Cascades on our honeymoon ages ago. Such a beautiful place. I hope to get back there some day but not when there's icy conditions. Great photo...thanks for posting it.

We live near the base of the Cascade Mountains here in Central Oregon. Winters here are cold (like -20 below wind chills),
snowfalls varies from year to year. We are in our Fall weather pattern, days are in the mid 70's and night hit freezing (32 degrees) or hover just above that. Snow could fly as early as Halloween and last till who knows when..lol Or we could have hardly any snow at all then get hammered with several feet in a few days. |

[/QUOTE] That's exactly the weather pattern we now have here in Eastern Canada. We have a frost warning for tonight. I love where I live but winters usually start way too early and go on way too long. |
Still running the "money-machine" here on the "cool" side of the thermostat.

Wow! You have your own stalagmite (''reaching up with all it's might" -that's how I was taught the difference between
stalagmites and stalagtites ("holding on tight" to the ceiling). Cool picture. |

Our winter bill usually doubles because we have 3 heated dog houses as well as running a heater in the shop to keep the pipes from freezing. And the dog water buckets are heated also. |
