First thing!

What is the first things you do in the morning! I usually let out the dog make coffee then sit Dowwith my iPad and look at what's new on the QB!

Sunnie 11-29-2012 04:08 AM

Ditto here, but I have to let 7 dogs out in 3 shifts.

Mary O 11-29-2012 04:09 AM

Bathroom, stoke the fire, make coffee, check e-mails,facebook,and what's new on QB and last chat room.....Dog and DH sleep in since I'm up at 4am......

Plumtree 11-29-2012 04:10 AM

Yep, same for me. Start coffee maker, let out dogs, love on cats and walk in my sewing room to take a visiual of what cats knocked out of place. Then on computer to check out everyones work in the Pictures section.

Mary just noticed you are in Friendship, my inlaws live there. I love that town--we stayed at a cute little hotel right on edge of town with a beautiful veggie garden about 2 yrs ago when we were visiting.

mltquilt 11-29-2012 04:10 AM

No dogs, but coffee, then tablet to check e-mail and quilt board.

Pray, watch Fox news for about 15 minutes. Then get out of bed, greet my sweet hubby then make coffee. Then make breakfast for both of us then get on computer and check my email accounts and my favorite sites. Then greet my two young grandkids as they wake up then I continue to watch the news and pick up my counted cross stitch until I am ready to take my shower. Then my day begins!

Joset 11-29-2012 04:46 AM

ditto here. coffee , dog and quilting board.

lillybeck 11-29-2012 04:50 AM

I am with you on this one. The problem is that by the time I read here and Facebook seeing what my kids had to say and my e mail I may as well go back to bed because I have no time for anything then.

alwayslearning 11-29-2012 04:55 AM

I am with most of you, except I have green tea instead of coffee.

gramajo 11-29-2012 05:16 AM

Feed dog, make coffee, let the dog out, start drinking first cup of coffee. let the dog in, if paper's here, start reading that, if not, start reading on here, let the dog out, continue drinking, reading, let the dog in. Continue doing this until everything is read. Then my day begins and I start accomplishing something. Let the dog out, let the dog in goes on all day long. Whenever he hears anything outside, he has to go out to check it out. :D

Jingle 11-29-2012 05:35 AM

I make the bed take out the dog. My Husband takes her out at 4:30. I come in and get dressed, let cats out of sewing, where they sleep at night and while we work. Take care of bird, eat breakfast, take dog out, leave for work.

joysewer 11-29-2012 08:15 AM

Grab a juice box, take my thyroid pill, read my Bible, then go on Facebook, read email and QB. Eat after that and then my day starts.

barny 11-29-2012 08:23 AM

Gramajo, that is so funny. Dogs require a lot of care don't they? We're too old to have to care for dogs. Takes all of our time to care for ourselves. And cook, and sew, and read on here.

nativetexan 11-29-2012 08:28 AM

I feed my 3 cats, then make coffee and feed my hubby. then i feed myself. then i come here!!!

gramajo 11-29-2012 09:36 AM

I'm lucky; I have a fenced yard so just have to let him out, let him in. I sure will miss the company when he's no longer around.

francie yuhas 11-29-2012 09:44 AM

Up, make coffee, feed the dog, settle down so cat can relaxnon my lap, check out the quilt board and get going so I have time to sew! Christmas presents still look like flat fabric

GrandmaNewt 11-29-2012 11:32 AM

Stumble down hallway to the bathroom, trip over starving cat. Stumble to kitchen, trip over another starving cat. Start coffee if Hubby hasn't beat me to it, trip over all 3 starving cats at the same time. Feed the indoor cats (they are starving you know, its been HOURS since their last meal). Head towards my desk to find my glasses so I can see what I am doing. Listen to the outside cat whine at the door because (you guessed it) she is starving. Back to the kitchen to get more cat food, feed the outside cat. Finally settle in at my desk to check email, QB etc.

CindyA 11-29-2012 03:23 PM

Push start button on coffee (DH sets it up the night before). Watch some t.v. (a taped show or the news), several times a week work on a pieced or appliqued block. Keep drinking coffee til everyone is up, maybe check QB in the morning, always in the evening. Start the day!

Jan in VA 11-29-2012 03:28 PM

First thing I do in the morning - most days?
1. turn off the alarm
2. get up to potty, turn up the heat.
3. go back to bed, fall asleep again.
4. dream crazy, vivid dreams that would make great movies and which I almost always remember.
5. finally wake again, too warm, sweaty
6. shower and dress in comfy clothes
7. sit down at the computer for news, email, facebook, and QB......for hours it seems
8. finally get around to eating something so I can take meds
9. make a list of what I could, I should, be doing today
10. get sleepy from eating, go back to bed "to read"
11. ......and fall asleep again!:D

I LOVE retirement; ain't life grand!!

Wake up, take my 2 pain pills, lay in bed until pills work, then bathroom, coffee, feed the dogs if hubby hasn't already done it, check email, then facebook and then qb while I drink my 2 cups of coffee then shower and on with my day. Never varies; maybe I'm in a rut but I like my morning routine.

I agree with you, Jan. Retirement is wonderful. And I too make lists of what I should do today. Doesn't mean I'll do it.

nivosum 11-29-2012 05:42 PM

Feed the cats, fix something for me to eat and sit down to check email and QB.

momto5 11-29-2012 07:10 PM

Dog kisses and playtime and short prayer BEFORE I get up; then they go out, I fix their ice water and their breakfast; let them back in, fix my breakfast and iced tea, fetch the paper, pray, journal, check blood sugar and weight, eat breakfast, read the paper...etc. Don't hit the QB until later in the day, otherwise I'd be here all day instead of doing my quilting!

I'm newly retired and I'd better watch out... this is pretty much how my days go!!! I'm not accomplishing NEARLY as much as I'd hoped!!! But I am MUCH more relaxed!!!

alabam49 11-29-2012 08:17 PM

Running1-I'm with you---I recently retired and haven't marked many things off my to-do list I made before quitting work!!! I keep telling myself that I am resting up from all those stressful years of working and that I will get started on all those projects soon. Now the holidays are here those projects will have to wait cuz I have to rest up!

Dolphyngyrl 11-29-2012 10:27 PM

hit the snooze button twice.

earthwalker 11-29-2012 10:33 PM

Dogs out...make coffee...pack husband's lunch bag...see him off to work...more coffee....no QB 'til the afternoon (if I make time). Don't know about anyone else, but I need a whole lot more hours in a day to do all I want to get done!

Retired Fire Chief 11-30-2012 04:48 AM

After bathroom and getting dressed, I let out our 5 dogs, make coffee, clean kitty-litter then let dogs in, feed 4 cats, feed the 5 dogs, drink a couple of cups of coffee while checking emails, and on the rare instance it is 6:30, look at QB while finishing coffee, then it is off to the barn with barking, wrestling dogs to feed 6 horses and 2 mini donkeys, put out a bale of hay, give one horse with heaves her steriod shot, then let the horses and donkeys out. Walk back to the house and now with sleeping dogs, thoroughly enjoy the pictures and comments on QB!

KwiltyKahy 11-30-2012 05:11 AM

Make the coffee, let the dog out, settle into QB, go chase the dog who is hysterically barking at the rabbit that lives in the yard behind us, settle into QB, fend off the dog who wants to go back out and bark at the silly rabbit.

Sue Wagley-Thompson 11-30-2012 05:39 AM

I go to the bathroom, make coffee, turn on GMA and then, get my notebook and check to see what is new on QB!

MamaHen 11-30-2012 06:35 AM

Get up, make bed, feed dogs, let one out, clean litter box (husband gets up early feeds cats & makes coffee) take pills, get coffee head to sewing room for quick scan of QB & FB- then husband, I & dogs go for walk, I walk two miles each morning, come home get another cup of coffee sit down here for another hour or so and look through all things on QB.

captlynhall 11-30-2012 08:06 PM

Each of my two cats must have their brushing, then I empty litter, sweep the floor, give them fresh water, wash their dishes and provide fresh food. The I go to the back door where they are waiting impatiently to be let out. Now, I can take my shower. Then to the kitchen to make a quick breakfast, my husband usually fixes his own, so I can have whatever I'm in the mood for. Then it is time to get ready for work. If I am efficient with my time, I may have 10-15 minutes to quilt before leaving for work. I envy you gals who are retired or don't work outside the home. I imagine I would get more quilting done if I didn't work, but then again, I would probably wind up doing so many other things and still wonder why I don't have time to quilt as much as I want.

barri1 12-01-2012 04:47 AM

I get up before the alarm, as I can't bare to get startled. Dog is still sleeping.. Hit the bathroom for everything, and turn the computer on, on the way to the kitchen to prepare coffee to turn on ten minutes before I leave. Then the dog crawls out of bed, and sits patiently for me to go out with him. I stand on the steps while he lifts his leg to the tree, and it's back in to watch t.v., and read the newspaper. Read emails, start coffee, and then it's out the door to drop dog, and paper at mom's.. I do all that, and get into the office by 7:30.. It's a good thing my staff doesn't come in until 9:00..

romanojg 12-01-2012 05:09 AM

Bathroom, make my bed, get clothes out (if I'm working that day) so that I don't have to go back upstairs, go downstairs with dogs, turn bathroom heater on, go let dogs out, make coffee and then sit down at 530, watch a cooking show on Create and then a sewing sew show at 6 then out the door at 630 if I'm working; if not, I just relax for the most part. I'm on the pc everyday at work so I don't worry about it so much on my days off. Then eventually I'll get up and start cleaning or on Fridays my 2yr old granddaughter comes to spend the day with me. It helps save her mom money on babysitting so I watch her kids (1 is in school most of the time) on my days off. Except for Thursdays, we both have that day off. I told her it was mandatory for me to have one day each week that I could plan what ever I wanted so since she got to pick what days she gets off at work that was one of them.

BeverlyJo 12-01-2012 06:59 AM

First get coffee, then go to QB. I love reading this board. I learn so much and it makes me smile. A great way to start my day!

JANICE E. 12-01-2012 07:35 AM

Dog out and give him treats, Feed 5 feral cats outside( I got all fixed) , feed Husband & me (leave hub to clean kitchen) and THAN QB read.

luvstoquilt 12-01-2012 09:33 AM

Get up at 5:30...dress in walking clothes, feed the cat, make coffee, grab the newspaper, turn on ABC, sit for about 45 minutes...work my puzzle and go meet the 3 ladies I walk with at 7am..we go 5 + Miles every day...back home, another coffee, shower, dress check computer, etc and head out for whatever the day brings.

Roberta 12-01-2012 10:53 AM

1. Let dog out. 2. Give the cat fresh water and then the dog. Cat drinks ONLY out of the dogs bowl now. 3. Walk down the drive and get the paper. 4. Feet up, drink coffee and catch up on the news.

mcar 12-01-2012 02:22 PM

To have a good day I have to begin right...so disciplined of me! Well I do hate routine but I like to feel as well as can be. I take all my allergy meds in the bathroom first, then take my weights and do arm and neck stretches in the dressing room, then move on to make the bed and lie down to do my leg exercies for my center core. Maybe it takes 30 minutes total.

katesnanna 12-01-2012 07:19 PM

Turn on computer, make tea, check emails then QB. That takes care of first couple of hours. Also eat breakfast among these (and maybe put on a load of washing , but only one day a week).
