As long as your envelope can seal on its own before you tape it then it costs the flat rate of 4.95. It can be lumpy, lopsided, whatever, as long as you can close it properly and you didn't open the sides of the envelope to make it bigger. If you don't get satisfaction from the postmaster, then go to USPS.com and file a complaint and ask for it to be excalated to consumer affairs since you already spoke to the postmaster. The new padded envelopes are available on the webside also. Sorry for your bad experience, you shouldn't be treated that way.

Thank you. I know parcel envelopes like manilla ones, have to fit thru a slot on in the office, or it has to go parcel.

They cost the same.
Thanks.

I am not sure I have seen these?

I was told that this is TOO THICK :( I had one that was this size and had it denied as well. It does not lay flat, flat. Thanks for the pics!

All mine close on their own. I add two tiny pieces of tape to hold down the tear flap. Tape wasn't the issue :(

Thank you for the info! It wasn't one post office but several in the area. They all had this print out that said LIKE THIS then a picture of the envelope flat, then it said NOT THIS and had a big black X through the one that wasn't flat. All of mine sealed on their own. I used two very small pieces of tape to close down the sides to prevent them from opening. The gaps on the side always make me worry that they will catch and open even with just documents on them. Thanks I will try to speak with the postmaster.

Boy, my PO person told me to cram as much as I could and as long as I could tape the flap down that was OK...I do allot of mailing since I sell on ebay...I've never had a problem in NY or RI or CT and that baby is stuffed.

What about the bubble FRE's? Someone on here posted a link to them. I hadn't seen them before? What are the rules on those? Thanks for the inside help!

I just sent one out from my post office in Alabama yesterday and they accepted it. Hope it makes it to its destination ok.

Wow I was told a couple of months ago that absolutely NO tape is to be used on the front. I could use a small portion on the sides but nothing on the front. I was told that taping on the front allows for the shape to change too much and they cannot accept it. I'm in WA

The bubble flat rate envelopes are new. They just came out a couple of weeks ago. The rules are the same. If your stuff fits inside with the flap stuck down in the place it belongs then it should go at the flat rate price. Tape is fine as long as it isn't excessive.
