Do you fold your sheets?
I like to fold them right out of the dryer. I worked in a retail linen store for six years. Part of my job was to repackage opened and returned items.

bluteddi 06-06-2011 08:41 AM

I fold my sheets.... I wasn't aware there were ppl that may not fold sheets... if u do not fold ur sheets how do u get them to sit on the shelf in the linen closet???

sgardner 06-06-2011 08:45 AM

I fold sheets for what was mentioned in the 2nd post- for stacking in the closet.

But, this begs the question- is there a fancy way to do it that we should be aware of?

I just fold in half, fold in half again, etc, until it's square enough to fit my shelf.

valsma 06-06-2011 08:47 AM

I fold them for stacking in the closet and to keep the wrinkles to the minimal. My husband he rolls them in a ball and throws them in the closet.

lheartsl 06-06-2011 08:48 AM

they get folded as best as I can get them... the fitted sheet is such a PITA!

LoriEl 06-06-2011 08:49 AM

I fold and love it when they are line dried!

gunny148 06-06-2011 08:52 AM

My wife and i both fold our sheets. But when i was a youngster, my grand mother ironed her sheets the folded them, and i helped...

lisainmo 06-06-2011 09:10 AM

I fold and put them all in a pillow case and stack in the closet..that way everything is together when you are ready to use them.

My Grandmother ironed sheets too. She ironed everything! I remember the bottle she used with the holes poked on top of it. She'd be appalled to know I just hang my jeans up when they come out of the dryer and wear them un-ironed  :-P

Yes, I fold my sheets.

ssgramma 06-06-2011 09:35 AM

I fold only when changing for seasons otherwise I just pull them from the dryer and put right back on the bed most of the time. Sometimes I do need to go for a color change though ;-)

BETTY62 06-06-2011 09:38 AM

Yes, but my I don't do well with the fitted ones.

Great idea. Why didn't I think of that.

emerald46 06-06-2011 09:43 AM

Yep, I fold and place in pillow case.

Bonnie22 06-06-2011 09:47 AM

I like to put them right back on the bed out of the dryer! or off the clothesline now the weather is good

Painiacs 06-06-2011 09:48 AM

Yep I. Fold and pillowcase them too! Learned easiest way to fold fitted sheets from Martha Stewart.

BrendaY 06-06-2011 09:52 AM

My sheets get folded. I never knew there was another way..

Leota 06-06-2011 10:02 AM

Folding helps keep the wrinkles at bay besides keeping the sheets on the shelf... you don't have to duck when opening the linen closet.

redquilter 06-06-2011 10:33 AM

I fold and put in pillowcase also. See if I can explain this way of folding the fitted sheets - take the two shorter ends (top & bottom) and tuck one end inside the other; then fold the sides in to make a rectangle and then fold as usual. Make any sense?

Becka 06-06-2011 11:11 AM

Ours go right back on the bed.

neeng 06-06-2011 11:39 AM

I do this too, for the spare ones. But for the ones I use, really, I take them off, wash and dry, and put them right back on the bed. No folding required!

Yes, I fold my sheets and pillowcases. I remember ironing them when I was a lot younger. Lucky for me they had invented permanent press by the time I got married. No more ironing sheets and pillowcases.

leiladylei54 06-06-2011 12:28 PM

Mine are always folded otherwise I could never fit them into my small linen shelf.

ann31039 06-06-2011 03:33 PM

straight from bed to washer and back. i do have an extra set i dont use much. it is folded neatly and put in the pillow case. keeps the majority clean and then i only wash one pillowcase.

quiltmouse 06-06-2011 03:40 PM

How I fold fitted:

slip a corner pocket, right side out, over my right hand. (because I start making the bed with this corner)

with the left hand, bring an adjacent pocket, slip it over the one on the right hand. repeat twice more, moving the same direction on the sheet.

fold down the sheets sides, the same sides as the group of pockets.

You now have a basic rectangle. Procede with folding as needed.

lsmft 06-07-2011 02:54 AM

I iron and fold and I'm a grandma!

janjj 06-07-2011 03:26 AM

Ditto to quiltmouse. I always fold if they are not going back on the bed. Sure like my microfiber ones for winter. toasty warm even when getting into bed on cold nights.

So do I! Thought I might be the only one left with a clothesline in my backyard. My neighbors think I'm loony.

mythreesuns 06-07-2011 04:23 AM

I am so excited..I watched the video that Cottage Dee posted..and when I fold my sheets...thats how I do mine. So I am actually doing something right. ha ha ha. I normally just take my sheets off..wash..dry...and right back on the bed. As I love that nice fresh smell and if they are placed in the closet, by the time I use them, that awesome smell is gone.

sandpat 06-07-2011 05:44 AM

yup, I fold them and swap out sets just about every time I change the bed. I just LOVE "fresh sheet night"! I admit to not doing a great job with the fitted one, so now I'm off to watch the video.

My SIL still irons her sheets. When I do laundry for her, I tell her that I'm a good SIL, but NOT that good! She has to suffer with un-ironed. LOL!

Edditted to say:....cool, thats how I do them, just not as neatly as he does...but did ya'll notice the quilt on the bed??

I fold mine and like my linen c,oset very neat

Stitchit123 06-07-2011 06:06 AM

Believe it or not Bluteddy there are people who don't fold laundry.I help my Aunt clean her house The first time I opened her linen closet I had one of those mini-strokes as it all avalanched on top of me.She wollered things into balls and pushed it in I was horrified by the mess I spent hours folding and arranging and pitching things On her next laundry day I was there to show her how easy it is to fold sheets into sets for easy stacking I can't imagine getting into a bed where the sheets are all crinkled and wrinkled

mhansen6 06-07-2011 06:40 AM

Nope! I take them out of the dryer and put them right back on my bed.
