I am always truthful but try not to be brutal. A friend once told me you (I) know you could insult a person and it be half an hour later before they realized it.
However, I don't offer opinons unless asked unless I am at work...as QA it is my job to help :) . |
I like honesty and don't sugar coat things, because my friends know I don't sugar coat anything, infact at work because its like this and not sugar coating things I tended to get into trouble oh well its black and white and not a rainbow in my life

[quote=mom-6]I definitely believe in being honest, but I also believe in being tactful with that honesty. The way you say what you say can either be hurtful or helpful. Strive to only be helpful. If it could be hurtful, try to find a way to say it that will take as much of the sting away as possible.]
I agree with this totally! |

If I don't ask for an opinion, I don't want one even from a friend. I don't understand how a "friend" could put you on the defensive....I frankly don't care what anyone thinks of what I've done or going to do unless I ask for their opinion. Unasked for constuctive criticism, in the name of honesty, is for the birds...just my opinion....lol. It's just hurtful and no one wants to be near that person long.
This is making me sound heartless and I'm sorry for that. It's just that I had a MIL who's middle name was Constructive Criticism. She couldn't understand after Dad died why no one came around anymore. I couldn't burst her righteous balloon and tell her. |

Those kinds of friends i DON"T need or want to hear their "honesty" I will be honest when a question is asked. I don't feel obliged to give my opinion when I'm not asked for it. |
There is a difference between being honest and blurting everything out. If something needs to be said then I do not hold back but if it will not do anything and has no purpose I try to bite my tongue. Life is too short to cut people down even if it is the truth.

I believe in being honest but try my best to not be harsh or critical.
