Yep, I'd guess it's very cold in your part of the woods... it's just getting dark here & the rain is taking a break so we shall see how many goblins we get at the door!

bakermom 10-31-2011 04:55 PM

we had a lot of cuties! about 90 kids this year. We love seeing the kids and costumes-darn cold though. No rain or snow this year-yea!

Navy Wife 10-31-2011 04:57 PM

I stopped giving out candy last year. We live in a large subdivision on the edge of town. All the families who live in the county bring carloads of kids here and drop them off. The traffic is so bad we have to have policemen directing the cars and kids to keep from having a terrible accident. The last year I gave out treats, I gave out 400 pieces and ran out at 7:30. It's ridiculous.

barny 10-31-2011 04:57 PM

I've had at least 125.

Lindsey 10-31-2011 04:59 PM

WE had ONE.. and then someone who rang the bell and ddn't wait for us to answer.

marymm 10-31-2011 04:59 PM

Several cuties on a beautiful night in southeast Texas. My favorites have been a little girl who said she was a bee and another who announced she wasn't a cowgirl...She was a cowgirl rock star. And then we had two really cute dogs--one dressed as a squirrel and another as a turtle! The squirrel was a little bulldog and the turtle was some sort of a bigger mutt!.

valsma 10-31-2011 05:03 PM

LOL! That's to funny. Smart little guy if he knows it is cold and it is no fun walking in the cold.

I just got my first couple of treaters. Had to go answer door while typing this, poor little ones are all wet. They just got caught in a shower and I hope the only one.

Vicki W 10-31-2011 05:14 PM

We had over 100.

One I will remember, a young man(late teens) as tall as I am came to my door. Knocked and I opened the door. He stuck out his bag. I looked at him and said, 'I'm waiting" He looked at me funny and asked "For What?" I said, "Aren't you suppose to say something?" His friends giggled, and he sheepily said "Trick or Treat" then I tossed his candy into his bag.

Another boy grabbed his bag closed as soon as I dropped his candy in and turned to run, almost knocking over some more kids. I asked him, didn't you have something to say? He asked, "like what?" I replied Thank you to me and excuse me to her. His mother thanked me for correcting him.

Lots of very cute kids and lots of very polite kids.

irishrose 10-31-2011 05:17 PM

About 150 which is down a bit. Our weather was a little cold and clear as can be, so the children were having a ball. I did think 2 weeks old was a little young to be out.

MisDixie 10-31-2011 05:40 PM

LOL Just had a couple of teens at the door with an adult! I opened the door and said "my your getting taller all every year!" They laughed. So happy to see the teens out and knowing that they are having fun.

hobo2000 10-31-2011 05:45 PM

Most of our subdivisions have parties and going door to door is not allowed. I had one, my granddaughter.

jaciqltznok 10-31-2011 05:45 PM

we live in the center of town...NObody brings their kids here...they all go the wealthy side of town...sorta sad really as we LOVE halloween and go out all out to decorate and dress up...we had 6 kids come by tonight..weather is picture perfect..not even a breeze...sigh

Sewfine 10-31-2011 06:00 PM

I got in after 7pm, not a one. The ten grands that live nearby will have a ball this weekend.

mzsooz 10-31-2011 06:01 PM

We have had a fair amount of kids this year. My DD loves handing out the candy but has been pretty stressed out tonight. We are very tight on money this year so we didn't spend a lot on candy. Just couldn't afford those nice snack size candy bars that all the kids seem to want. Anyway.... the trick or treaters are giving DD a hard time about the amount of candy they are getting. Sad. We may have to rethink next year.

LUANNH 10-31-2011 06:02 PM

NOT A ONE But my neighbor and I took our dogs to a few houses so our neighbors could see their costumes. LOL

pocoellie 10-31-2011 06:08 PM

We haven't had trick or treaters in many years. We live out in the country.

beatys9 10-31-2011 06:17 PM

Spoke with FIL earlier... they rarely get any kids at the door as they live out a ways. He said they waited & waited, last night, then when no one came, they ate all the candy. Today they realized they had the wrong night and had to go buy more candy

MisDixie 10-31-2011 06:23 PM

Tee Hee....DH is getting cranky! Apperently I gave out the treats he really likes! LOL didn't help that the last 2 were carrying a back pack for extra treats.

purplemem 10-31-2011 06:29 PM

We have about 15 that live on our cove, all under 10. They came by before dark. The cutest costume was the little boy across the street, he's maybe 2, he was dressed as Bam-Bam, but he brought his spotted pooch, painted purple (with koolaid) and he was Dino.

That was darling!
One of the little girls was a brat and very rude. She kicked at my chihuahua puppy. If her foot had hit her it would have killed her, or at least hurt her badly.

One little girl cried when her mother put a safety pin on her wings to keep them from falling (no, she wasn't stuck) and I thought how immature for a 7 year old.

Joan 10-31-2011 06:31 PM

We used to have 100's before we moved.....

The wild turkeys, deer, squirrels, skunks and raccoons are our neighbors now and they haven't learned how to ring the doorbell.....you know, I don't think "they" know anything about Halloween at all....

ufoqueen 10-31-2011 06:38 PM

Had a cute little boy who was about three yrs. old and he smiled and said "hello" held out his little pumpkin, so I dropped a candy into it, then he handed me a candy from the pumpkin. I thanked him and tried to return it, he said thank you and ran off.

moonwork42029 10-31-2011 07:28 PM

First time I've been home in several years and actually had something to hand out.... no one showed up.

Oh well, more for me and DH

I had Famous Amos cookies and mmmm they'll keep :)

Peckish 10-31-2011 07:36 PM

Our neighborhood is growing older, most of the homes are owned by retirees. Took my youngest out, and for every house giving away candy, we walked by 3 or 4 that were dark. That's okay with me, he has to work for the candy and he gets pooped out before he accumulates too much.

My DD (who is 16) and her boyfriend went Trick or Treating around our neighborhood tonight. Only 3 people asked them if they were to old. I have to agree with what DD said to me. It is better for teens to be out trick or treating (politely!) than to be partying, doing drugs or who knows what.

Our neighbor laughed and said it was the first time she had a trick or treater with a beard. (stubble actually! LOL)

akrogirl 10-31-2011 07:44 PM

We just had one cute, younger girl who walked up the street with her mother (long, dark street in a horsey neighborhood), and one older, teenaged boy who was being driven around by his parents and who couldn't even be bothered to wear a costume!

skeeter 10-31-2011 07:47 PM

This is the first time in 37 years we were able to celerate holloween. I had a blast. Not really knowing how many kids to expect, I actually ran ot of candy. I pulled out the frozen candy bars, apples, large packages of gum, finaly went to the 100 calorie snack packs and last of all the small caramel packages that you use with apples. I finally had to turn the lights out. I ran out of everything. LOL!!!!!

hannajo 10-31-2011 07:52 PM

The kids I nanny for (18 & 4 months old) didn't dress up or go trick or treating. But I took them out for a walk so they could see the excitement. The best part for the kids was someone dressed as the Cat in the Hat. Also, the older one is learning to count, so we counted pumpkins at all the houses.

luvnquilt 10-31-2011 08:12 PM

I went out with the kids and DH stayed home and handed out candy. I could see my 4 year old telling the candy-giver what kind of candy he wanted. I try to tell him to just accept what they give him but most people don't seem to mind.
My hubby said the cutest was a very little girl who was shy and dressed as a fairy. He asked her what she wanted and she used her fairy wand to point to her candy bucket. It sounded just adorable!!!

lindy 10-31-2011 08:43 PM

Nothing like an honest kid to embarrass a parent!

Diannia 10-31-2011 08:49 PM

We did trunk or treat at our church and had lots of kiddos. Of course I think the cutesy ones were my grandkids! After we came home I handed out some more candy. One little Princess (about 2 yrs old) was adorable. Ias she was leaving I told her she was a cute princess and she toddler away telling me " I'm da princess!"

We had at least 400 kids. Two blocks from us the whole street decorates. They have to block of the street it's so crazy. People start coming to look a week before. If you go to www.terrorontillson.com you can see some pictures. It is awesome. On Halloween we get the overflow of kids cause it takes so long to get down tillson Street. On Saturday they have trick or treating for kids who are ill. We've even made the Detroit Free Press.

MsLoriAnn 11-01-2011 03:34 AM

We had only 19! But we live in an older neighborhood and the houses are farther apart than in the newer housing districts.

I was giving candy away by the handful.

We had about 25, but that is because we were out with our munchkins.

Marilyn1 11-01-2011 04:44 AM

We had no kids as we are out in no where but we did have a young Deer come get an apple. Does that count?

quiltymom 11-01-2011 04:45 AM

We didn't get any!!! Two years in a row!!!

olebat 11-01-2011 05:27 AM

For several years our rural kids came to the houses in golf carts. I dressed in my finest witch attire and held my python over my shoulder. As they rang the front bell, I'd lean over from the side porch and ask, in my creaky witch voice, "Who's that ringing my bell." As they approached, and saw the snake, they'd freeze. I'd ask again, what they wanted, and timid Trick or Treat" would be whispered. "Well, why don't you just come over here and see what you can find in my cauldron," I would advise. As they got closer to me, and the snake, they'd reach blindly into the cauldron, (they were maintaining eye contact with a 12 foot snake, after all). They'd grab their treat and run, posthaste, to the awaiting golf cart.

The treats were probably received with mixed emotions. Candy was not on my agenda. Instead I always grouped several strands of Mardi Gras beads together and attached a little sign, It read, "Genuine New Orleans Voodoo beads. Great to wear to ward off evil or to trade for other charms."

Business dropped off, the kids got older. Now, no one comes. We don't even turn the light on. The snake died last November, after spending 23 years with me. She was about 18 feet long. Many kids were entertained by that snake. I took her to schools for programs. I do miss her, but a woman my age has no business with a constrictor that size.

DebsShelties 11-01-2011 05:29 AM

None here - have not had them for years now, stopped buying candy as I don't need a ton of leftover.
