Ok ladies and gents.....it's that time of year again....time for me to take a great and wonderful trip!
I'm headed to Brisbane and then on to Sydney, Australia. Will be a fabulous 2 week holiday!

Why am I telling you all this? Well, last year when I did my Hong Kong trip, I put out to the board for anyone wanting postcards. I'm doing it again this year. If you think I already have your addy, just PM me letting me know you would like one...you'd probably get one anyway. lol
For those of you who KNOW I don't have your addy, just PM it to me.
If you would like, I can send a card on to your little ones. We all know how kids LOVE to get mail and a pretty postcard with Sydney Opera House or Koala or Kangaroo on it just might be the thing they would like to receive.

Before anyone asks....NO, I probably won't be visiting any fabric shops. They are wanting $25/metre for fabric there and I don't want to visit one and then be sad and not buy anything because of the price, but, then again, you never know!

We leave on the 18th and will be back on the 31st.

Terri, have a wonderful trip!!!

woody 10-11-2009 01:16 AM

Have a great time and I hope the weather will be kind to you.

tlrnhi 10-11-2009 01:41 AM

Thanks Gai and Woody.
BTW Woody, when I was in the Canberra area visiting, I remember seeing those bright colored birds in my friends yard. I couldn't get over how beautiful they were.

Keep you eyes open for the rainbow lorikeets in Queensland and near the coast in NSW, They are even brighter and more colourful.

I think they are just beautiful!
I'll have my camera ready for them!
We don't have birds here on Guam.
Well, we have some doves and some brown sparrows. Oh yea, and some of the white egrets too, but that's about it. Nothing else.
I miss my pretty birds that used to grace my bird feeders!

barnbum 10-11-2009 04:24 AM

Oh my gosh, what a beautiful bird!!

Terri--I can not WAIT to see photos of this trip. I'll even show them to my students (you usually take rated G ones. ).

Terri already offered to send each of my students a postcard--how sweet is that?

AND they received a box from her with Japan and Guam treats in it last week!! I'm thinking these kids are glad they got stuck in my room!

Back to your trip--I remember someone from the horse forum telling about the terrible fires that were there last year--and the drought. Are things better with that? Has tourism been effected? Woody--maybe you'd know more?

NorBanaquilts 10-11-2009 04:33 AM

Have a great trip!

Knot Sew 10-11-2009 04:46 AM

my first thought is Kangroo....do the boys have pouchs and how much stuff will fit....they could replace the post office.

think what you could do if you traded your round tummy for a pouch. You could visit friends and snitch stach he he he ....or carry keys or snacks

Any way I'm green again...visit the opera and a bilabong and Alice Springs :D

Terri, I am very happy for you. My son was in Brisbane and Sydney in the summer of 2008. He was 14 at the time and went with a group called People to People. It was the first time he went anywhere without us. He also went to New Zealand and his favorite part was meeting the Maoris.

Make sure you have your picture taken with a Koala. We treasure his picture. I know there are probably tons of places to do that.

You may not want to go to a shop because of their prices, but they have a completely different concept when it comes to art quilts. I have seen many in the Down Under Quilts magazine, and would love to see some of those in person. They are incredible.

Have a great time.

Maria

Have a great trip, and make lots of memories to bring back to the states with you!!

tlrnhi 10-11-2009 05:18 AM

I"ve already had my picture taken with a koala, but I'm going to do it again. A friend of mine in Canberra has a friend who works very closely with the koalas at Lone Pine. We are hoping she will be around so we can get "behind the scenes" with her. We just need to call when we get there and check on her schedule. This lady does alot with the Koala Foundation.

We will only be going to Brisbane and Sydney. I've been to Sydney before, but not Brisbane. I'm not the one who wanted to go, I got outvoted 2-1. I wanted to go to Viet Nam, but the other 2 didn't want to go. Oh well.......I do know where there are some good pubs in Sydney! :)

I'd love to be able to trade my tummy for a pouch, but I guess I'll just have to settle for my backpack. lol

Bevanger 10-11-2009 05:53 AM

ooooooooo that sounds fun except for no fabric :(
i'd love a card :D

Ooh, I'd love to get a post card... You used to have my address, but I'm not sure if you kept it, so I'll PM you again. That's really awesome of you!

I went to the zoo a month ago, and there was a bird place with dozens of birds like that, sooooo pretty!

ETA: well, the pics are showing up really grainy here, I'm not sure why. They're spectacularly coloured in real life.

tlrnhi 10-11-2009 06:35 AM

Gotcha Bev and Mel!

I love birds with beautiful colors!
Ok, I love all birds. Cannot wait to get my bird feeders back up!

Bevanger 10-11-2009 08:11 AM

I envy you. I always thought visiting Australia would be fun. I can listen to them talk all day

beachlady 10-11-2009 08:36 AM

I want one -- actually I want two things - a postcard AND one of those bright colored birds - would go so nice with my two parrots.

Will PM you my new addy.

k3n 10-11-2009 11:53 AM

Terri - if it's not too much trouble, I'm sure Joey would love a postcard of a kangaroo! His nickname (he's really Joseph) comes from when he was in my 'pouch'! :D

But the main thing is that you have a GREAT trip! :D

MadQuilter 10-11-2009 02:51 PM

Terri,

wishing you loads of fun. Can't wait for the report. (Living vicariously through other people's adventures at the moment. Hope you don't mind.)

sewjoyce 10-11-2009 04:42 PM

Oh, lucky you!!! Go and have a wonderful time (and a nice drink for me in one of those "pubs") and don't forget my postcard!! :D :D

Well, if I send one to Joey, then Lily needs one too, right?? :)

I know I'll have a great time!
FINALLY got hotels booked. Dang are they expensive! Oh well....this is another one of those "once in a lifetime" trips for us.

k3n 10-11-2009 05:51 PM

They won't mind sharing, T! Hope you're practising walking on your head! :D

Share? OH NO!! They CANNOT share! It's on thing about sharing with a goodie box, but when it comes to postcards, no, cannot share.

k3n 10-11-2009 05:59 PM

You're too kind T! But Joey could have the front and Lily the back, or wouldn't that work? LOL Honestly, they'll be thrilled to bits. They love wearing their T shirts 'from the lady in Guam'!

littlehud 10-11-2009 06:52 PM

Have a wonderful time.

Sheila Elaine 10-11-2009 07:06 PM

Hi Terri, I'm going to PM you my addy. My gkids are 17 & 14, but both would love a postcard from the other side of the world. Thanks so much. Sheila Elaine

Terri I am soooo jealous!!! I would love to see Australia some day. Actually I really want to see New Zealand. I have a good friend that lives just outside Wellington.

Have a wonderful time!!! I remember you sent me a postcard last year and I just loved it! If you do have the time and postage money, yes please add me to your list again!

Cheers
Andrea
