I can only think that the person who wrote the song "In the Good Old Summertime" did NOT live in Texas.

The triple digit temps. continue, forecast on through the next two weeks.

The AC in our sewing cottage can barely keep up, and in the afternoon, just can't be kept cool enough to really be comfortable.

I, for one, am looking forward to fall.

ssgramma 07-11-2011 09:57 AM

I hear ya loud and clear! It's 93 here with heat index of 107 and DH is mowing his Mom's yard. Whew!

countrycottage 07-11-2011 09:59 AM

The heat index adds a whole dimension to the overall temperature. Our humidity is awful today.

leatheflea 07-11-2011 09:59 AM

Pretty toasty here in indiana also. Heat index is 110. We've only ac in one room thats the bedroom. We try really hard not to use it because when you live in the sticks it really runs up the electric bill. So a fan it is till I cant stand it anymore. Just checked the thermostat and its 83 in the house. Not bad!

It has been in the upper 90's and my neighbor desided she could mow our yards but she finaly conceded that she can't do that any more finaly she agrees with me we are going to have the man mow it at least once a week and we are getting by cheep $25 a mow, and $30 when the leaves fall in the spring

quiltingcandy 07-11-2011 10:07 AM

And to think I was complaining because it was 80 degrees with humidity.

valsma 07-11-2011 10:10 AM

And we complain when it hits mid 90's here. Uck!

cherylynne 07-11-2011 10:27 AM

Great pool weather. The grandkids love it!!

mltquilt 07-11-2011 10:28 AM

In Lewisville, TX it is currently 87 but the high is supposed to be 101 with the low only going down to 81. I hate to see my electric bill for this month. We're getting close to breaking some records for # of days of 100 or above.

It was getting quite hot here in Columbus, but now there is a BIG downpour. If it rains enough it should be somewhat cooler, but if it doesn't clear out the humidity it will just be muggier. No AC at home so I had come to the library, also for better connection (dial up at home).
I think the person who wrote the song was walking in some shade on a day about 79 degrees. ;-)

Painiacs 07-11-2011 10:41 AM

It's in high 80's here which is hot for us in N Michigan but the humidity has been high also which is rare and hard to deal with. Makes it hard for me with asthma to breath. Can't believe ppl r out cutting grass in 90-100 degree weather! Be careful and drink lots of water!

redkimba 07-11-2011 10:44 AM

Yeah - I've stopped looking at the weather forecast because it's the same thing for days and days...

emerald46 07-11-2011 12:15 PM

The pool temperature is 93 at 3pm....we prefer 86 (very refreshing). It is still better than our 100+ air temp. I just want a few days of good, drippy rain!

dtippens 07-11-2011 12:20 PM

I love summer !!!! Sorry But I love the heat and all.
all but the storms that goes along with it.

wolfkitty 07-11-2011 12:29 PM

It is 93 here in NY state, but not too terribly humid today. But my son just moved to Texas. Just arrived today, so I haven't heard anything about the weather yet.

fabrichore 07-11-2011 12:30 PM

I love summertime as well, we had a pretty yucky winter here in new england, so I am trying very hard not to complain about the heat....winter is just around the corner again and I am so not looking forward to it....stay cool my freinds....

I was just thinking of watching the movie, "In The Good Old Summertime" today. It was a sticky, humid heat here in Upstate NY but I think we topped out at 97 today.

Stitchit123 07-11-2011 08:57 PM

Bite your tongue Its been 93-101with 80 & 90% humidity for the last 2wks w/o the heat index-- I don't have or want AC I'm still trying to thaw out from all the below zero crap I waited all w****r for this glorious sunshine In The Good old Summertime--

smagruder 07-12-2011 03:33 AM

Yesterday, heat index was 115 and we were sticky to boot.

Wonnie 07-12-2011 04:06 AM

93 degrees today, high humidity, no air-conditioning (by choice) but there are days I pay for it... I do just love hearing the birds sing in the morning and feeling the breeze ( when there IS some..:-) )through the open windows and all the sounds and smells of summer.

mhansen6 07-12-2011 06:49 AM

Sorry. It is suppose to be 75 here today.

Owllady 07-12-2011 06:56 AM

It has been about 4 weeks of over 100 temps here in central Texas with a couple more weeks atleast in the forecast. The Air Cond. runs a lot. Ready for Fall since we did not have any Spring.

grammysharon 07-12-2011 07:10 AM

It rained all night here and is only suppose to reach about 70 degrees today. It is heading your way!!!

jbj137 07-12-2011 07:11 AM

Upstate SC was over 100 degrees yesterday.
More today with a estimated heat index of 125.

Heat hits you in the face when you open the door.

This is why I love, love, love winter!!! Give me the snow, cold and even the shoveling anytime over heat and humidity. Isn`t it great that we are all individuals with our own idiosyncrasies? Let`s just appreciate this world and the people God blessed our lives with.

grannypat7925 07-12-2011 07:54 AM

Same around here. I will never complain about snow again!!

sammy89 07-12-2011 11:04 AM

central tx here is real nasty hot, we have the air set at 76 and it still feel hot.Pool is like warm bathwater no freshen up there

Barbara77 07-12-2011 11:36 AM

Today is under 70 degrees here in Oregon. We get one day in the high 70's or maybe low 80's and then it is back to cool again. It is July 12th and I am wearing a sweatshirt.

katyquilter 07-12-2011 12:08 PM

It's hot in SW Missouri also...

sammy89 07-12-2011 12:13 PM

i wish for some cool days u always can put on another sweater or so but cant do more then take off everything u wear ooops

alikat110 07-12-2011 02:08 PM

Agreed. I just wilt in the hot summer Texas heat!!!

Sandra in Minnesota 07-12-2011 04:32 PM

Up here in the Frozen Tundra, this weekend is supposed to be in the triple digits! Which brings the humidity that high too. Keep cool, folks!

Brandi 07-12-2011 05:56 PM

I from Arkansas and I have had all the hot 103 + heat index of 110 I want. I am not a summer person anymore. I am so ready for fall. I didn't complain with all the snow we had last winter. You can get cool enough and the air conditioners run and run and tun. Even the stores and houses aren't cool enough.
