My hair started going gray in my mid 40's and I colored it until about 4 years ago. I got so tired of doing it every 3 weeks to keep that stripe from showing! So now it's half gray and natural at 52. The front is grayer than the back. I get people stopping me all the time and telling me they love my hair.

I used Nice and Easy for years, when I went natural I tried washing it out, didn't work so I let it grow out. it lightened overtime. The last time I cut it I had pink tips. I went to a wedding for my cousins daughter and got compliments, they couldn't figure out how I got it that way. It took a year but I'm so glad I went natural. I now have wash and wear hair and it is silver. Good luck with letting your hair grow out. I don't know of a product that you wouldn't have to let grow out with time. It is worth it.

Interesting that this thread is still going. I like the tea idea. I may try it on my silver roots as I wait for my dyed color to grow out. I saw my hairdresser at yoga class - she offered to dye it gray after she got over the shock of my letting it go gray. No - that would only dry it out more and that's why I'm stopping hair coloring. It also wouldn't be "my" gray. My best bet is let it grow until I have a few inches of gray, then get it cut very short.
