The Farmer's Almanac is predicting a very cold winter. It must be true because the squirrels are gathering NUTS. Three of my friends have disappeared!

Are you O.K.?

It has been predicted that we will have a colder and wetter winter this year, which means more snow than we are used to or equipped to deal with... I am going to stock up so I can stay home, warm, well fed and quilting... will buy extra nuts too, can't stand the thought of turning away a hungry squirrel  :D:D:D

We had our wet, cold, hard winter LAST year. This year will be milder with MUCH less snow.

bjnicholson 11-12-2010 02:07 PM

Funnnnnny! It's the other nuts you have to watch out for!

sewgull 11-12-2010 02:41 PM

FACT: If anyone would like to have squirrels I will give you all you want. They are eating our pecans. Squirrels are pest to have around when there pecans for they to steel.

Tink's Mom 11-12-2010 03:41 PM

Well, the squirrels didn't get my husband YET! He just got home...better luck next time...

watterstide 11-12-2010 03:45 PM

oh oh, my husband gets home at 6:20, and he is not here yet..dang squirrel!

he just put a 10 foot x 24 foot addition on the back of the garage..i wonder..maybe my gracie frame will fit?..hmmm

cjaye44 11-13-2010 05:16 AM

A cold winter means lots of soup and piling on the quilts at night. It's also the time for hand quilting...the extra keeps your feet warm. The down side to that is the cats burrowing in the folds on the floor.

Thank you for the laughter this morning. I love these quilters.

SharynE 11-13-2010 06:45 AM

That looked to be a real forecast, until you got to the "friends" SOOOOOOOOO funny, Thanks ! We had our first snow and it is a real doozie.

Mona Marie 11-13-2010 06:59 AM

We have had our first snow fall and it was not suppose to "stay". Well so far I have about an inch on my sidewalk!!
I have had two squirrels visit my bird feeders, the first this year.

pdolls 11-13-2010 07:26 AM

Dawneda 11-13-2010 11:09 AM

Luv Quilts and Cats 11-13-2010 05:47 PM

I'm ok! I sprayed myself with perfume to keep them off my scent. Now, maybe if I bribe them with peanuts, they will leave me alone. I actually feed the squirrels, along with the birds. It's funny, but when the feeders run out, or there are no peanuts left, the Squirrels stare at the house! It's like telepathy. If I am home all of a sudden I think, I need to put out some more food. Sure enough, there is usually a squirrel on the feeder just staring at the house. I crack up every time!

PattyS 11-13-2010 05:49 PM

Send that squirrel this way. Way to funny!!

Pins n' Ndls 11-13-2010 08:29 PM

Too funny !!

I feed squirrels too! Last year, I had a wooden basket at the back door that I would put nuts and seeds in for them. One day I had not gotten to it yet, and I heard my screen door rattling. When I went to check, a squirrel was spread eagle on the screen, claws in the mesh, shaking it, and when he saw me coming, he jumped down and sat next to the wooden basket, while his two buddies stood back a bit more. I got some peanuts out and he stayed very close to the basket as I filled it, and the look on his face was precious. I think he was saying thank you! LOL!

According to the 'pet almanac', at my house we are in for a bad winter. My pets are suddenly getting 'fuzzier' than normal. They have all developed a thick shaggy winter coat. My long haired cat has a bad case of the frizzies! Brrrrrrrrrrr!

haha - I think you ALLsound like nuts! But in this case, that's probably a good thing.

South GA is praying for rain. the Okefenokee Swamp is already burning and causing smoke problems for about 60-75 miles north and west. We just hope it's not a year with swamp fires all over like 3 years ago.
