Hardwood laminate question
Is a protective floor mat necessary for rolling chairs on hardwood floors....Pergo type?
|
I say yes, use one under my chair.
|
With hardwood flooring I would use the mat, with laminate, it's not necessary.

I would use a mat. My son's house has laminate/pergo type flooring in the LR and DR. Their DR chairs are on wheels, and have made marks under all the chairs. They are older barrel type chairs, so I don't know if newer "sewing" chairs have a different type of caster or not.

I use mat for my sewing chair with rollers on my laminate floors.

I have Pergo floors and don't use a mat. I haven't seen any marks so far. I think it depends on the type of wheels on your chair.
|
I use a cut of linoleum, it works great.

My sister has laminate floors and it seems that the chair may leave marks because it's softer than hardwood but I don't have it so I can't say for sure.
|
My son put laminate in his office and the chair marked it up bad in about 2 years. I think a mat would be necessary.

Instructions that comes in the boxes of flooring recommends to either use mats on the floor or rubber rollers on the chairs. I like misspriss' idea using linoleum.
